Yeah, I love MVC2. I have no clue how to play, but damn it's fun.

If I could get nulldc to display fullscreen it would be even better.
Change the video plugin, I don't remember which one it is but I can fullscreen it.

I figured it out. Wasn't playing nice with 1440x900 so I dropped it to 1024x768 and it worked like a charm.

I'm using Ryu, Cpt. America, and Cyclops. I'm sure that's a bad team but it's fun.

I have to find a good place to put my stick. fucker is as big as the PS3!

'Clops is good cause of his Anti-Air assist.

Here is a pretty good fighting game related read you guys might want to check out. I only skimmed it, I haven't sat down to read it all yet.

Seems like the guy has never played Def Jam: FFNY, because it has what he's looking for: story, interactive arenas, and body injuries.
I play just about everyone in Marvel. i fucking love that game.

The team is play competitively with is Sentinel, Cable and Captain Commando.
I remember that I was obsessed, making themed teams and figuring out good hyper chains. This was all before I really really knew how to play, but I would have so much fun switching between different teams. I just really liked the idea of such an enormous crossover. I played pretty much everyone. Hell, I'd play as Roll against a friend in order to have a severe handicap.

God, that game was so much fun. It was a cross between a wrestling game and a MMA game, but it was just really well done. Conceptually, it sounds stupid, but when they put it together, they really went all out on it. It's not a competent competitive fighter or whatever, but it was accessible to any type of gamer and it was so much damn fun. Perhaps most importantly, it was incredibly refined/polished. I still have fond memories of it.

Once he made the argument that shooter's have evolved more than fighters, in that fighter's were at the core gameplay exactly the same and just prettier, I stopped reading
Lies. There's always more to get. Start on that Korean stick collection. ;)
I have a sticknara, Saulabi, custom Taeyoung, custom Crown, custom Fanta.

I have the stick that MaDDoGJiN (Tekken player) used when he competed.

I have the first custom Korean stick finkle did.

I think I'm set. ;)

I also have a Korean stick made out of a PS2 case.
Which?
Funny thing about this stick I bought. I have some history with it.

This stick is extremely limited. It has never been on eBay and has probably been on Yahoo Auctions Japan a handful of times(it always ends around $240+).

Hori originally released both a Hori Real Arcade Special Addition (SAnwa) and Hori Real Arcade Pro Special Edition (SEimitsu) shortly after the launch of the Hori Real Arcade Pro (original one).

At E3 2005 in Kentia Hall, Hori had one on display. By this time, the stick was already sold out/long gone from its one time release (Horistore.com exclusive; was never on Play-Asia or NCSX; I kept hoping it would be though)... I tried LONG and HARD to get the US Hori reps to sell me that stick. They weren't budging saying it is a Japan only limited edition/only one they have/etc etc.

So time goes on. I still look for it. Never found it.

I find out via Hori that less than 400 or so were made. Many of which were used for press/marketing.

Famitsu poll had this controller voted for/nominated as one of the greatest controllers of all time.

The legend continues...

Fast forward to first week of 2009.

Someone tipped me off on the deal. I contact the seller.

Guess who it was? Mr. Hori US rep. Awesome. Deal done.

Happy MarkMan.

:)

In a few days I'll give it my FULLLLLLL REVIEW!!!!!!! (it'll probably be after CES..)

I still have to do my detailed writeup on the SFIV arcade sticks lol.

It seriously always bugged me that the game wasn't backwards compatible on the 360. Now that it's dirt cheap, maybe I should snag a copy on the PS2. I'd be buying it more for sentimental value, considering that I'm not sure I feel like starting characters from scratch again.

Also, I've never EVER seen a game let you so meticulously design your own fighting style without forcing you to go through the drudgery of choosing movesets. When you picked primary and secondary fighting styles, there was an obvious blend that was unique for you. Did you guys know that there were about six or so specific styles available depending on which combo of Martial Arts and secondary style you chose? Like, you could get Drunken Master, Kung fu, Tiger Claw, Crane... it was really ridiculous. Even more ridiculous that it was in a game featuring rappers beating the crap out of each other.

Sounds like a sweet Korean stick collection. :)

What you don't have would be an easier question to answer.

Also, that's a hell of a snag on that HRAP SE.
Loved killin' Danny Trejo via subway.
And throwing the ugly chick out of the penthouse window was hilarious.
I threw him in front of the subway train too. It was hilarious. :)

Which version was the best one? I heard that the PS2's load times were worse than the GC's, and I know that you couldn't edit voices in the GC, either.

I heard Xbox, due to 480p and slightly better graphics. Only played the PS2 version.

My dude was 400 pounds, black, and fought in his undies and a headband.

why do people always bring up bodily injuries as a way to evolve fighters? seems like a step towards realism, which is not what fighters need to become more fun.

I only played XBox, and I imagine it looked/sounded better than the other versions.

lol. I made an assortment of joke characters and then tried to make one look like me. My friend made a pretty convincing Abraham Lincoln.

I think you just answered your own question. Oftentimes people forget that realism does not necessarily mean fun or a good game, and is sometimes a crutch that developers use to not have to come up with genuinely innovative gameplay mechanics. Sometimes realism works and sometimes it doesn't, but most people consider it "advancing gaming."
I am curious if MM will actually play that ultra rare stick regularly?
Probably not as much as I use my Namco arcade sticks... There's a reason why I have so many of them. They're SO GOOD!

But as far as bigger sized arcade sticks go. I kind of like the HRAP1 ver. A.... or the SFIV stick...

Hell yeah, Namco sticks are so good. I wish I would've bought all of them when Walmart had 4 of them for $15 bucks. I only bought one.
no takers on making me a blog heading?

you'll be my next interview if you do ;)
you implying me?

if so, shoot me a PM early afternoon tomorrow and I'll get something done quick at school. :)

I promise no big eyebrows ;)
When will Madcatz let you divulge? ;)
CES starts on Thursday.

I won't be back until Friday night.

So, if I'm lazy, you'll have to wait until Monday :p
What's wrong with big eyebrows!!!!

If it hasn't been posted here yet, Scorch announced that the Gamecrazy preorder bonus for SF4 will be a Medallion/Coin with Ryu engraved on one side and a 20th annivesary on the other.

I like to think that it's a shoutout to when people would put coins on the arcade machine to reserve a spot, but maybe that's just wishful thinking.

It would be nice, but I know you Rolentos tend to be a lazy bunch ;)
What's a blog heading? And what do you want in it?
it's the image that appears at the top of many CAGs blogs. and I want sweet Street Fighter artwork in it.

 lazy? more like forgetful >_< everytime I have money, I forget to send you EX3, and everytime I don't have money I remember >_<

I have a special corner in my room dedicated to EX3

One nice thing about the English/Japanese SFIV voiceovers is that you can take people more seriously who play it in Japanese, and have fun with people who play in english.

dag yo, my idea woulda been to have Usagi Yojimbo holding a katana...
I was just ball-busting ReRo.
I know :bomb:

I was just bustin my own balls as well >_<

still wish Rolento was in SFIV, even though he's never been my main.

It's silly how I hate military games, but in fighters I always like the military/police/security based characters...

Styker, Kevin Rain, Ralf Clark, Heidern, Rolento, Bryan Fury, Dragunov, etc...
I don't know how comfortable you'd be driving up to Sacto, mang.
We'll see dude. I've driven farther to hang out with friends and even get some FG hangouts in. For a month I drove 1.5 hours to play SFIV in San Jose.

Do you live in Sacto near the edge of the city (near Elk Grove), Downtown or the crappy side near Orangevale?

I'll be working less starting next week, but I'm taking on 3 sections of Art History TA'ing as well as my own classes soon. Hopefully I'll be less stressed.

On a random note, it just hit me today that SFIV is a little over a month away. Wow
