Yeah.. everyone praises 2k2 and 989898989898989, but 99 was my favorite. Kyo-2 ftw.
There's a reason for that. Amongst the many, 2K2 ditched the Strikers idea. Character assists work for other games in the genre but not KOF.

That video was AMAZING! Was I the only one who thought 'Steamboat Mickey' for some reason? Must have been the black and white animation.

I'm thinking of picking up a XBL Points card soon for HD Remix and some Rock Band DLC. Good Idea or bad idea?
A cookie goes to all who just had an Animaniacs flashback.
Like I don't already know the answer:lol:
Too much arcade stick chatter lately. Everyone is an arcade stick expert/connoisseur nowadays. lol.

BACK TO GAMES

There is a huge fighting game surprise(or should I say, it might be something that makes people mad?)... Look out for it in 2009.
capcom related?
Whatever it is, It's gotta be something exclusive to the Wii.

yeah, it's probably the best thing I've seen in months that really made me happy.

KOF '98 is great, but I do like the later ones too. I need my K'. I should play some 98 UM later this week. I'm looking forward to 2k2 UM too.

Played some HD Remix after I haven't played in it a while. So good. I just need that SFIV TE stick badly.

nothing would make me more happier if sega announces vf5r for u.s. release this year.

but then they'd probably only make it for ds with only touch screen controls and no wifi, then i'd be so pissed i'd pppk an innocent bystander in the balls.

I want VF5R so badly. But what I want, Sega doesn't want. So I don't want VF5R, Yakuza Kenzan US, Yakuza 3 US, or a real Shining Force sequel. Ever. Oh, and IF somehow, YK and Y3 come stateside, I want them dubbed. You listening, Sega? ;)
:) :) :) :)
Damnit.

Are there any halfway decent controllers for the Wii? After all the money I'm spending on SF4, I can't really afford to buy another stick.

So what is everyone getting SF4 on?
Im going 360, and probably the normal version.

Might get it at CC, its 10 dollars cheaper and you get a 10 dollar giftcard.

Okay I am thinking about making a MAME cabinet. I would like to make a back to back cabinet, but I have no idea where I start and what I buy first.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm getting the 360 version and I just pre-ordered the Tournament Edition stick. It's on like Donkey Kong. I won't have much time to play games once work starts (and even less once law school starts), so small sessions of SFIV are going to tide me over for the next long while :)

and FloodsAreUponUs, PM me your gamer tag.

Is the soundtrack you get in the Collectors Edition a CD, or just some kinda download gimmick? I'm a sucker for soundtrack CDs.

I'm still on the fence about CE vs. regular edition... pity we get the gimped movie format on 360 (although this is technically the only version I'd be able to watch, it's still annoying to know there's a better version out there). The other extras are nice... and Street Fighter is one of those franchises that I'm willing to shell out extra cash for.
:) :) :) :)
At least I know if those smiley faces mean anything, I'll be ready for it.

Getting the Joybox converters for my Wii and being able to run a legit copy of TvC, hell I'm ready for any zany fighter decision Capcom makes this year.

?? ninjadog, MM should 'asplain 'cause I thought the sticks were ready and just waitin' on Capcom to release the game.

Also, I'm going both systems for SFIV. PS3 CE and regular 360. Gettin' a TE stick for 360 and a pad for PS3.

Screw VF5R.

I want the second season of the Virtua Fighter anime.

English dubbed.

I'll see that, and raise you Virtua Quest 2 for 360/PS3, with a huge budget and Hollywood voice acting.

Johnny Young Bosh is Akira.

 at VF anime.. it's a great fighting game but the characters are completely lifeless. They don't even have endings.

That's why the anime is a testament to creative skill, because they took those lifeless dolls and made them into characters.

Virtua Quest was a decent action platforming game as well, for a fighting game spin-off.

I've never played Virtua Quest. I almost bought it for like 6 bucks, but the reviews scared me away.

It's funny how I'd rather go eat a good meal than buy cheap games anymore.

when I was in the middle of a VF4evo craze, I saw the listing for Virtua Quest (pre-u.s. release) on gamefaqs and thought "another great game not coming to the U.S."
Damn, I'll be out of town this weekend.

Any word on who is reppin' NorCal at regionals? I've heard talk but nothing really concrete. Are we just going to wing it? :)
i heard for norcal vs. socal team tourney they will do a qualifier down there to pick the norcal team for sf4. but i know like a_rival, andry, haunts, and a bunch of ks2 guys will be going, couple of the sjsu sf4 players, dunno much else since i've been kind of out of the loop on this when i decided i wasn't gonna go. i bet all the regulars for other games will go like ricky for 3s and chunksta for mvc2, dunno if choi will show since i heard he will be busy with school or something.

other than haunts, andry, and a_rival i dunno who really plays sf4 regularly. haha i'm actually kind of worried for them since they haven't had much practice since the schools have been closed.

a_rival said he is gonna go to sfc then straight to socal haha.

Awesome.

I'm playing this Gief in HD Remix, and I burn through him round 1, then he does the same round 2. Then round 3, I manage to get Hawk's super on him for the game! :whee:

I get a message from him after the game, and I'm thinking, "great, this guy is a whiner," but he totally congratulated me. Awesome.

Rival is crazy like that. Wonder if Rival will get in on 3S. Dude is crazy good at that game.

Also I played Crizzle in SF4 a couple months back and he has a really good Sagat/Vega.

so i'm gonna being running the console gaming room at anime expo this year, which is in july.

i don't follow the scene as i once did, but what's popular? i think i can have 2 tourneys per day, for 3 days.

sf4, sf:hd, brawl, and probably guilty gear are locks. and since it's gonna run thursday - saturday, the bigger events will probably be on saturday.

what else is good? sc4? tvc?

also i have no idea how to run a tournament. there's bracketing software, right?

i kinda wanna make the tournaments bigger and more exciting and something people actually look forward to during the tournament instead of the "whatever, i'm here and it's free" kinda thing. i'm toying with the idea of quals on thursday and friday and semi-finals on saturday during a main event, but i don't know if just fighting game peoples would show up for all 3 days. meh.

Cool, I might see you there.

Brawl always brings people, and TvC = $$. For bracketing software, there's TIO.
whoa, are the PS3 Tournament Edition sticks are delayed???
http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=5953540&postcount=2168

Are the 360 ones delayed too? Is it just this guy's site or is this nationwide?

Shit.
What the fuck. Seriously. It seems like the PS3 always gets shafted.

Now I want to change my preorder to the 360 version, but I'm afraid that if I cancel my preorder I'll get my new order backordered. That's retarded.

Speak of the devil. Gamestop.com lists the stick as "currently unavailable."

i went to street fighter club when it was in LA, and it was filled with scrubs and a couple top people. i think they had like, 4 setups and like, 80+ people. it's not really worth it if you already have SF4 to play.

markman: i'll hit you up later tonight.

beef: here's the problem with brawl. every year smash has been expanding and since entry has been free (which may change this year, at my discretion), the tournaments have regularly been huge for that. last year it was 256 with a 100+ waiting list, so we normally run FFAs until we get it down to 16. so just warning you, it probably won't be typically tournament quality.
