As a pad scrub, I can't fathom playing on a stick. But I guess that's mainly because I never really did any kind of arcade-hopping in my youth.
So I got back home about an hour ago, and I was hoping that my Saturn S-video cables would've shown up, but they're not here. Bummer. I was totally gonna play some Mega Man 8. So I'm like "dang, what should I do now?" Well, I grabbed that copy of Marvel Vs Capcom 1 off the shelf, cracked it open, and started playing it. Now, I was expecting something that was different from MVC2, but holy shit - this is like completely different. I mean, it's got the same signature zaniness that MVC2 has, but I dunno... it just plays way different, and I really like it. I don't like using the Tekken stick, because I've become accustomed to nicer buttons and I hate this stick, but whatcha gonna do? Good enough.

Now I just need some pizza and I'll lather my Tekken stick in grease, for that authentic arcade experience.
wut? You've never played MvC1??????????????/

I've always like it a million times better than MvC2. finally someone agrees with me.

oh and more MM awesome:

Sticks, mang. Love 'em. Playing in the arcades growing up, I always wanted a good console stick. I've used so many shitty ass ones that I basically went pad only for a long time. I always wanted a Mas stick because it used real arcade quality parts and not the cheap shit we always ended up receiving. So I used pads for the longest time, until the Namco stick for PS1 came out and I snagged one. It was really excellent quality, but I sucked on it, since I used pads for so long. It wasn't until I got a Dreamcast and MvC that I realized I needed a stick, so I got the green goblin Agetec stick. I used it so much that I plain wore it out. I got a PS to DC adapter after that and put my Namco stick to work some more.

Now, I can use a pad to play still, but I much prefer a stick. :)

One of these days, I'll finish my DC Green Goblin mod. It still needs a paint thinner bath to remove all of the fucked up paint on it. Other than that, it's ready to go.

Looks like we're going to have to pay extra for ANY alt, costumes for SFIV.:roll::roll:

Make it cheap, Capcom and I'll consider it.

Also, a rumor going around is that the C.E. will have credits to download your choice of any five alt. costumes.

fuck that.

fuck that as well, but I honestly don't mind too much. It's something I'd actually pay for though I don't see the point.

I will though be wasting a ton of money on DLC for Tekken 6.

I did play it a couple times when I was at Pizza Hut like... a decade ago. But yeah, I really do think I prefer MVC 1 based on what little I've played so far. But I'm just really impressed that these are totally different games... I was expecting like a SFA to SFA2 sort of progression, but it's more dramatic than that (well, and unlike the SFA series, MVC1 is good...)

Also, Mad Catz needs to send one of those sticks to Honestgamers so I can review it. Bah, whatever.

I just hate being ass fucked by DLC. I already paid $60 for the game, don't nickel and dime me.

ready to get your mind blown? pick Ryu, and do a HCB with medium or hard punch....

Well I'd rather just pay them $70 and not have to download anything.
Well I'd rather just pay them $70 and not have to download anything.
You wont have to download anything, all the content is already on the disc.

And this is really meaningless DLC, who cares for alternate costumes, they wont affect how the game is played at all so its just all fan service fluff. If you really want it, buy it, if not then just ignore it like i will be doing.
Well I'd rather just pay them $70 and not have to download anything.
I'd rather them say "Hey, you are supporting our game, here's some cool shit. Thank you." instead of, "Hey you, 60 bucks isn't enough! You are a fan. You want this shit. You pay us and we'll give it to you!!" (pun intended)

I'm all for supporting a company, but I'm getting tired of this. I know "You don't have to buy it." But I'm a fan. I want those costumes. I'm just tired of it.

Sigh, I'll probably end up buying them too.

9.0 for performance. So it's not the best performing stick then.

8.8 for build quality. Not bad for a stick manufactured in a Chinese sweat shop.

9.4 for features. I thought you said this would be the most feature packed stick ever, Markman?

9.8 for ease of use. You mean it doesn't plug itself in?

9.0 for value. So it's a $150 stick that's only worth maybe $135.

9.3 for comfort. Needs some padding for my poor carpal tunnel affected wrists.

9.6 for longevity. It might last long enough.

9.7 overall. Not bad. I might keep my preorder. ;)

In all seriousness, I just love IGN's review numbers. It's like, how do they come up with these numbers? Is there a formula or something? It's just so laughable.

At least it's getting great reviews everywhere.

I was wondering that as well. If it lasts longer than my pets or whatever the stupid line they used was, then why wouldn't it get a 10 for longevity?

They're so ridiculous lol.

Review has unsold me. Stick clearly has issues :nottalking:

Also, I tried the HCB + MP or FP shit, and I turned into evil Ryu and was like "daaaaayyyyuuummmm." That's fuckin' awesome.

It's crazy how mushy the Tekken stick feels, though. It's weird - it's just sorta difficult to tell if I'm hitting a direction or not. I haven't used my modded HRAP 3 that much, but man... it has clearly had an impact on how I view other shit.

Any word on which version of SF IV is superior yet?

I don't think I have $150 to dish out on the Tournament Stick (which I think they're raping us and making it $189.99 here) but I'll probably pick up the less expensive stick.

Gratz MM!

Looks like I'm canceling my TE preorder. I told myself years ago that anything less than a 10 for the TE stick in all categories at IGN wouldn't be satisfactory :bouncy:

SF4 dlc doesn't bother me bc it's optional and we're getting extra characters and a ton more stuff on console.

I hope chun has some badass ones tho.

now...i know this has been answered millions of times but i forgot: will i be fine with the $30 Hori ps3 stick (PS3 Fighting Stick 3) from gamestop? i have the TE stick preordered but $150 is rly making me double think this.

I've used that stick and I don't like it, but it's functional. There's buttons, there's a stick, and I've seen worse. But how into fighting games are you? Like, are you gonna be picking up blaz blue and KOF XII, etc.? If you are, then it might be worth the price for a good piece of hardware, just because if you're playing a lot of fighters, you're gonna start to notice those qualitative differences.

If you're not gonna get the TE I'd say at least get the regular stick, as already it appears to be lightyears beyond the FS3 in terms of quality and modablity.

yeep im picking up BB, KoF, and much more..ill also be playing guilty gear with it also...i heard the button layout is weird for this stick but $30 > $150...idk, i gotta think about it some more and see if i can get the cash in time

Good games in HD Remix, FGT. Tony Hawk just wasn't cutting it for me today. That, and I still can't figure out how to beat E. Gordo Honda. He just answers everything I have for him, it's so bizarre.

I also heard that Justin Wong, that magnificent bastard, also uses Tony Hawk in HD Remix. He's also (apparently) undefeated. He just can't let me have anything, can he?

Good games suko, axc, and beef. That was a lot of games.

I loved the T.Hawk (beef) vs Honda (axc) battles. They were so funny to look at yet epic at the same time.

GG's to my hommie Mr. Beef and Suko/Option.

Beef.....Honda loves you. Very very much.

hugs_graphics_04.gif

I have to agree, Honda indeed loves you Beef.

Also, you can lash out at me when SFIV comes out if I get the PS3 version, because I'll be trying to learn how to use a stick seriously for the first time in my life.
I really wish Honda would stop hugging me.

It hurts. So badly.
Ah! So Ochio Throws are okay? GREAT! :)

im not sure if im gonna get any other fighters but im thinkin the TE will be worth it since it seems like the only arcade stick i'll need

that and i strangely want to be good or at least not a scrub for SFIV

I can't believe I'm up so early.. anyone wanna play Remix?

So, does everyone here prefer fighting games on the 360? I need to know if I have to put in a preorder for a MadCatz stick. I assume there is no decent PS3 to 360 controller adapter, if one at all.

Also, I've never played Street Fighter 2's. Shame on me!

The online play is always better on the 360, so yeah, that's generally the version people spring for. The PS3 versions also seem to always have minor glitches that the 360 version doesn't. Point is, you're better off just assuming that if it's a fighter, you'll be playing it on 360.

I prefer the 360 even though I rarely play fighters online.

Just got done playing some Vampire Saviour. Something about BB Hood/Bulleta that gets me going. Who knew that Little Red Riding Hood packed a Mac-10?

I don't have (nor want) a PS3 so... yeah.
Anyone have impressions of Fate Unlimited Codes (or whatever it's called)? Worth importing or nah?
I really dig it. It's pretty fun. I can't really comment on balance yet. I'll get more in depth later, once I've played it more.

I got into an argument about this on the deals forum about this about a month ago
I still hate that asshole I got into it with. I confuse "drivel" with "dribble" and suddenly he's on a high horse?:wall:... Why am I bitching about this here, anyways?:whistle2:k
. Basically, if you compare the 360 verses the PS3 when it comes to U.S. released, retail fighting games, the 360 wins out because of exclusives like DOA4 & Battle Fantasia, as well as the online updated revision of Virtua Fighter 5. If you're a fan of the fighting genre as a whole and you want to play online, the 360 is king.

Did you guys see where GameStop might be holding SFIV in-store tournaments where the grand prize winner takes home a SFIV arcade unit? If my local store does have a tourney, I'll enter it while wearing a homemade "CAG FGT" wristband.;)
The GameStop tournaments are gonna be fierce!

EVO ppl are running it... gonna be nuts.
OH, CRAP!!!

*Tucks "CAG FGT" wristband in pocket and pretends he didn't say anything*
Triple post, but post up some questions for Mr. Beef's Punching Bag. I have some spare time tomorrow so I'll send the interview his way.
Dear Mr. Beefington, what are your favorite and least favorite fighting game bosses to fight against and why?
