Man I don't wanna go to no Best Buy :(

fuckIN' one-horse town that my school is in
Even Best Buy's probably a no go. I was there today and there's no pre-order available for the Collector's Editions of either Resident Evil 5 or Street Fighter IV. They did have the regular editions available for pre-order. Best Buy preorders generally differentiate between the two and will have both versions available if they're getting them in.

Bestbuy.com does have it for preorder, so maybe I'm wrong. Well, either that or they're only getting a stock of them for online orders (like the TE stick).
hand dancing!
sum of it is hand/finger tutting.

sum of the finger stuff was done on ABDC too by Tony Tran, who was freakin teaching TWICE this past week...

I wish I lived closer to the action
I want the PS3 one.

hope I can still get a CE since i want the blu. then again someone will prob upload it online with I will "not" watch.
You listen to Retroforce GO!, don't you?:lol::lol:

It looks like EB is still taking pre-orders on the CE on their website, if you still want it.
:cool::cool::cool:

Retroforce

GO!

I love that podcast. Sometimes.

This is the worst!

Also, the director's commentary on Street Fighter:The Movie is appalling.

It's painfully obvious the director got his business degree before his film degree (or maybe instead)

He mentions that they did well despite the "bastard" source material and talks about Street Fighter the movie:the game. Except he calls it Street Fighter 3.

lol.

There's a couple of Gamestops in my area (which is weird, since there's always at least a pair of them everywhere I go), so I'm gonna find out which one of them is holding the SFIV tournament, if at all. Anyone know if there's any Sacramento guys I should know about before I start practicing my win pose?

There's like 20 gamestops in driving distance of me that are holding the tourney. A bunch of us Seattle players are trying to split up the stores haha.

MM do u happen to know how the horizonal faceplate/skin look on a 360 elite? im thinkin bout pickin one up just not sure how well itll translate onto my elite
Anyone know if there's any Sacramento guys I should know about before I start practicing my win pose?
Have a feeling if any of the Sacto Gamestops run an SFIV tourney, it will draw out the guys that play at Fairfield Tilt (Tyram, tharimrattler, tekdaddy, etc..)

I could probably clean up at a local SF4 tourney, everyone around here sucks.

I played like 2 hours of Melee in my life before the brawl tourney, and won my stores tourney when brawl came out.

I think I want to get the Chun-Li Fight Pad.

Asked this question earlier but will ask again. Anyone know if the Street Fighter IV Fight Sticks (not the tournament one) are going to be easy to find down the road? I have a tournament stick pre ordered but was going to buy the regular one as well. If they are goign to be easy to find down the road I might hold off. Same goes for the pads. Are they going to be limited to a certain amount?

Maybe MarkMan can shed some light?

Also, are Gamestop and Amazon the only places to get the Stick and pads?

Thanks in advance for any info.

I have a question... I don't own a PS3 so I don't know how that works but with 360 I have it set to always output at 1080p. I guess it's upscaling from 720p? So what does that mean for things like "dynamic resolution switching". If your PS3 is set to output at 1080p, it'll be one moment upscaling from 720p and the other from 630p? Is that right?

The 360 has a built in scaler whereas the ps3 does not.

The PS3 can change resolution on something to make it run better.

The 360 can stay constant because its less work on the CPU to scale the stuff.

If that makes sense.

The game is natively running at 720p and then slammed up to 1080p by the scaler that is built into the end of the Xenos pipeline.
I'm not a freak about picture, more about sound to be honest.
This. Its why I have over 1500 invested in Sound.

So this is what happens when MarkMan loses at a fighting game?

I'm a freak about gameplay.

I just want a SFIV Fight Pad that's entirely black, no stickers on it. Maybe just call it the Mad Catz Fight Pad.

I'm even more decided on the 360 version of SFIV now.

I think it's funny that a few years ago, if you said that, people would laugh at you.

Yeah they would. When I first heard about it, I pictured this. :)

I had one of those. Destroyed my tumb on it with alpha 3.

So what is the best console version of Alpha 3?

Oh man, a buddy of mine had a controller just like that one, but with a rubber d-pad. We ended up ripping the rubber off, and the d-pad worked 100x better.
So what is the best console version of Alpha 3?
Saturn version is the best console version. But the SFA3 Upper that's on the Alpha Anthology is my personal pick, if you don't mind not having some modes like World Tour mode.

I really liked World Tour mode BTW.

I played a fuck ton of world tour mode on the ps1 version.

I have the dreamcast version somewhere.

World Tour mode was brilliant. It was how you unlocked Guile, if I remember correctly. You needed to be a certain level by the end. Also, hidden matches against Shin Akuma and Evil Ryu.
I played tons of world tour also. Dreamcast version doesn't save high scores (oh noes), has mono music, and just feels off to me.
Huh, did not realize that. I bought the DC version as kind of a "why not?" purchase when I saw it on clearance years ago (already had it on PS1).

Never got around to spending much time with it, but it kinda bugged me how the extra modes were unlocked from the start. Was there actually anything to unlock in that version?

Speaking of Alpha 3... that's actually the game that convinced me to buy a PS1 in the first place! I was years behind the gaming curve (got a used SNES in '97), but I distinctly remember the moment when I read about Alpha 3 in a game magazine at the Broadway Mall and though "whoa, guess I'll be buying a PlayStation!"

Mono Music?
Dreamcast=Wii

so... here's a rough moc up what I can make realistically of a main hero for the soon to be awesome FGT movie:

ranger.png

the face is going to be a scarf... scarf on neck. lycra body suit, along with lycra gloves and boots with gold rimming.

still have yet to decide on the weapon. any ideas would be superb.

Also, most likely the main character will be called Reroh (spelling undecided)

Yeah, they changed the resolution or something but forgot to compensate for the difference, which is why it feels off. From what I hear, the Saturn version is definitely the best in that it's arcade perfect and has all the modes. I can't say for sure whether or not it is the best, but give me a week or two and my copy'll be here, and then I can say "hellz yeah it's tha best."

Yep. It definitely feels off. The PS2 AA version feels fine though. I'm interested in your take on the Saturn A3. :) I've heard it's the best.
I hated trying to unlock Shin M.Bison. HATED IT.
Wasn't Shin Bison just an X-ism Bison? I can't remember quite right. I don't think you ever unlock the end boss with the Super Amazing Invincible Full Screen PsychoCRUSHER(tm).
