I was going to post that Tranquility Lane was where I really got into the game. You find Dogmeat in the Scrapyard, northeast of Vault 101, south of Minefield.
I'm not sure if the perk will cause him to respawn if he has died before you get it, but you may want to wait until you get the Puppies! perk before finding him. It'll cause a new dog to spawn outside 101 should he die.
So Modern Warfare 2 is comin in from gamefly this week. Never finished a CoD game ever so I'll make it a point this time.
I'm actually getting it to blast through and then use it as training wheels for my dad to transition from PC FPSs to console FPSs. Any recommended titles that help twin stick newbies?
Who was needing a code for RF earlier? I've got two extras that may work.
I do!
If you would happen to still have them and want to part with one. I'd adore you forever, Dallow.
Yea, it's a bummer. I'll still try playing more though. I enjoyed exploring creepy ass places while listening to some old timey music. But, I think from that type of game I want more good loot, it seems like 98% of the stuff you pick up is junk or stuff you already have. If the game had a balance between Fallout 3 and Borderlands I'd like it better. And I hate that feeling of being too weak (like you should not be here) and having to slowly run away (there is no run button) while 6 guys are shooting you in the back... it's just frustrating.
What level are you? I was level 17 by the time I got to Rivet City and didn't really feel weak at all. And for a follower you should really find Fawkes and use him, he is seriously badass. He kills tons of stuff.
You're right about the stuff you pick up, you rarely get anything that's truly different. Which reminds me, have you been collecting the bobbleheads? You can miss one or two of them so remember to look for them in
I forgot you get a dog in Fallout 3. I think mine died or something.
Never got one.
So now I keep like 150 poultices on hand at a time, put the difficulty back to normal, and I enjoy Dragon Age again. Thanks GGT. Doesn't look like I'm going to finish it by Heavy Rain-time, though.
Why would you play on anything other than normal?

Raven Rock and when you return to Vault 101.

I never had a companion, rolled solo, and by the time I hit level 14, everything was a joke. By the time I hit 20, the game ceased to be fun, because there was NO reward for combat.

No reward? Did you not play the expansions? I really enjoyed the trek to level 30 for all the extra perks.
And it never ceased to be cool when the Mysterious Stranger showed up.
I rarely used companions except for a couple of times with Fawkes. He was a lot of fun.

He respawns even if he died before you get the perk.
Fawkes pretty much breaks the game, but is still awesome - especially when I don't feel like fighting Giant Radscorpions anymore. Deathclaws are the only enemy that really pose a problem after that.
Fawkes is female.
Actually, according to the Fallout wiki the game's lead designer said that he was male and that's explained by one of the terminals in that area of the game, too, I believe.

You assume I played through the game with Broken Steel. You assume wrong. I played and completed F3 long before any of the expansions were released. I was capped at 20 before I even started the final set of missions and it was just aggravating everytime I'd have to go somewhere and level the opposition with no little "hey, I got XP or neat items or SOMETHING" for it.
It was the same when I finally got ahold of the expansions and played through all of them. I hit 30 long before I was done (probably in DLC 4/5) and then I relived my boredom and aggravation at getting nothing for the annoyance of blowing everyone's head off. :S
By activating the Terminal by the door of Fawkes room in Vault 87, and using the 'Identify Specimen' function, you will find that the cell's inhabitant is called 'Specimen D164'. A different terminal in a room close to Fawkes' cell contains data on 5 specimen, stating that D164 was a female. After the FEV is introduced to a human they shift into a being with no sexual organs and thus, no gender. However, it is unknown whether Fawkes actually is Specimen D164 or whether he (got) moved into the cell after the original inhabitant had died. In any case, since Bethesda had to identify every NPC's gender (and nongender wasn't an option), Fawkes has been confirmed to be male.

I didn't assume, I asked if you played with the expansions. I, too, passed 20 long before the final mission and I ended up stopping at around level 29 midway through Zeta (the third DLC for me). While it was fun to keep leveling up past 20 (I can't imagine being stuck at 20 in that game) it sucks that you peak so early in that game. That is actually really sad, though.. You didn't find anything fun to do after that? I just loved running around killing Deathclaws. Radscorps I hated killing, though.
Yeah, I haven't played Fallout 3 yet (on the shelf) but I loved Oblivion.
I didn't give a shit about the combat (just put the difficulty a few clicks to the left) nor the leveling. It was just a blast to explore the world, do all the guild quests etc. and get immersed in the world.

My bad. I saw the "no reward" and skimmed to the "level 30" comment afterwards, making me think you'd assumed I should've gotten the broken steel DLC in the least. Hell, once it came out, I highly recommended ANYONE buy that, regardless of whether or not they planned on playing the rest of the DLC... cause if you put ANY time into the main game and do a majority of the sidequests/explore, you'll hit 20... and that just sucked the life out of the game for me.
For me, the combat became boring. I had no *reason* to get into fights at that point. None. I needed no equipment. I'd done all the quests and found all the bobble heads. Luckily, when I started the DLC, I'd already done EVERYTHING in F3 core. And Zeta is definitely the experience giver of the 5 DLCs. So I played them in order, I think, minus the "brotherhood" quests... I was 30 by the time I walked off the mothership.
Exploring was more fun than leveling. I didn't give a shit about leveling. I just liked roaming the wasteland.
To me, exploring was average. How many times can you go through the same vault or the same ruined factory or whatever? I felt that a large portion of the world was just bland and repetitive to me -- which is what combat became when (a) it wasn't a challenge and (b) I no longer had any reason to engage in it, other than the game telling me I should get off my ass and shoot people because they were attacking me. :\
Anyone going to Anime Boston? I was going to go to PAX as well, but that would involve getting someone to watch the kids or even worse trusting my wife to watch them by herself the entire weekend... So I don't think that's going to happen. AB is different since I already had arrangements in order months ago.
I would love to go to Anime Boston but that's way too far with my current funds. Ohayocon in Ohio was really cool though.
Microsoft finally got me a new console finally that works lol. Bastards only gave me a month for all these problems when they ate 3/12 months of my live I had just bought in November before it died.

Well, one goes to CaptainJoel, as he was the one who needed one earlier in the thread and the reason I checked for an extra.
The second to Sean he asked first.
If I get more, I'll let you guys know.
Hope I'm still your fave Preston, haha.

I couldn't kill anything because I gave away the last of my poultices, and didn't know where to buy more Elfroot.
I remember the reviews talking about high difficulty, and saying that it was very rewarding to perfect a strategy that ends in success, but I'm finding neither to be true. In every case where I succeed after a long string of failure, it's never after changing strategy. It's after using the same strategy I used 3 times in a row, except this time I got a little luckier and/or the AI was a little less stuipd.

that sounds about right.
i like my games to be challenging to a point, depending on the genre -- with dragon age, i probably would've been okay with playing on easy even. i played/beat on normal though. and that last fight... i ended up kind of glitching it, because it wasn't playing fair and the AI was being stupid. partially my fault because i never used the whole "gambit" system (whatever it's called) to fix my people's actions.
Benjamouth, if you're around, you gotta get the new Rifftrax shorts dvd .. they're hilarious. I highly recommend. Also, now that zune plays avi files I can watch my mst3k collection from the Digital Archive project. I'm watching Alien from LA (featuring a young Kathy Ireland ) today.

Hey Mak
Yeah I bought those two new Rifftrax shorts DVDs from Amazon, haven't watched them both yet. The Alcohol one with the three completely unrelated stories was hilarious, I was laughing my ass off at "The Ride - the Paris Hilton story".
Stuck in Albany wanting to play Hills and Rivers Remain on my iPhone - but since I put my charge cable in my checked luggage and may get stuck here or in NYC overnight, I gotta use that battery sparingly. Guess I'll do that weird "read a book" thing.
