The PS3 version is better in the same minute ways the 360 versions of other games. (slightly higher resolution, slightly more 'objects', etc)
plus the obvious video and audio compression
The same differences that cause you to completely shit past PS3 games for.
oh shit, revenge time!

FFXIII avatars spamming sum 360 shots and tearing them apart, it's a bloodbath!

Just funny that now it doesn't matter.
Everyone should be buying the superior Yakuza 3 anyway.

Has anyone here even played Tropico 3?

Oh yeah, you can compare lists.....
Heh, I think I've done that once on 360 and twice on PS3 since I've had them.
Overall trophy count or gamerscore I notice though.
I have no real-life friends who own a PS3 to compare trophies with, while I know tons of people with XBL.
Its the exact opposite for me. Not a single friend or family member in real life has a xbox 360 (they laugh when they learn you have to pay to play online) and all own PS3s. Im the only 360 owner i know.

I compare achievements all the time, I'm really interested in what games my friends are better than me in on 360.

Trophies I don't compare except when my friends text me and insult my PS3 gaming prowess for my lack of Platinums.

Only thing trophies/achievements are good for is to see how much of a game someone has played when they talk shit about it. Sure, they can play it at a friends house or something, but that's just bullshit half the time.
I just like fully unlocking that list of trophies/achievements, doesn't matter what system.
That stuff is marketing genius.

I've always loved unlocking stuff in games.
Yep. I just wish there was more actual unlocking stuff in game (characters, weapons, levels, power ups, whatever) vs. just getting pointless points added to gamer score or a trophy etc.

Play the Uncharted games.

Comparing achievements/trophies is good for seeing what games my friends own or play.

No PS3, and don't game enough to justify picking one up.

I would like to play those games though. Really the only PS3 exclusives I really wish I could play.
You love iCarly but you hate Miyazaki.... Oooooookaaaaay. :p
Why's it so strange to like the superior piece of entertainment? Sam is awesome!

Also is iCook the one with Ricky Flame? If so, who was Jack?

you actually COMPARE achievements to other people?

besides, ninja gaiden sigma 2 (vs. ninja gaiden 2) is there a multiplatform game without the same trophy/achievement set?

Not compare as in "go through each of my friend's profiles to see which ones I have and they don't and then gloat", but compare as in "check what the gamerscores of my close gaming friends are once in a while", yes.
I compare cheez a lot.

Although I fully admit I have a cheez addiction. From the second I unlocked one in Project Gotham 3 I was hooked.

yeah I like going into the guide to check scores with people on specific games. I always thought that achievements were more important for the individual game scores versus your big overall score. Good ways to spend loading screens or while waiting for games to install. Plus I actually have a friends list with people I know versus just some random people who I'm not sure who is who on PSN.

Honestly it wasn't much of a thought between 360 and PS3. I just default to 360 because I play it more and care more about achievements (note: this doesn't mean I live and die for them it means I care at all vs not caring at all about trophies) Honestly, with trophies they might as well not be there for me. Some people might like them but I have zero interest.

If it comes out that there's technical advantages to the PS3 version I might switch to that. I have a few weeks to decide yet. I'd be most interested in better texture quality or less compressed sound. Those would be two really important things to me picking the PS3 version.

hmm that's pretty nice. The pendulum is swinging.

I'll keep my eyes out for further impressions as release draws near. That is impressive, though.

Maybe not unbiased, coming from a guy with a heavy rain avatar who proudly proclaims "1 scratch proof blu ray"

That field shot with the pop-in foliage is a lot closer in the PS3 shot than the 360 one too.. I think someone's out to prove something..

Uncompressed audio and video would be nice.. I might go PS3. I should.

So Jer, when are you switching that preorder?
hmm that's pretty nice. The pendulum is swinging..

Funny part is if this was reversed you'd be shitting on the PS3 for it, whereas now it's just a "well maybe I'll switch my preorder..."

nope, I'm just looking to spend my money on the best product for me. Sorry. I'm not biased, however much you want it to be that way.

Square Enix PR, what the fuck too? Sending out doctored PS3 shots with 360 buttons on them, then these fucked up shots? Who knows what to believe.

We'll see. The 1080p quality video is probably enough of a dealbreaker.

They're the same damn thing!!
You do the thing, you hear a sound, you get a popup, and boom, it's associated with your tag.

No, because I can't compare trophies with the same friends I have on 360 in the same games. They're not the same, but it's a more personal rather than qualitative stance on it. On paper, they're pretty much the same, but they're not for me.
nope, I'm just looking to spend my money on the best product for me.
Ok, cool. Just wanted to make sure you were getting the PS3 version. Looks like you are.

yep, looks like I am. Kinda feels more right getting it on Playstation, history and all.

Yakuza 3 demo is a lot of fun. I'm not so great at the fighting, though.

And pertaining to the discussion, I think I'm going to be getting my FF13 copy on 360 because I need a new 360 and I want the 250 gig HDD. I may just try to exchange it for the PS3 version, though.

I'm leaning towards the 360 version. I think I'll enjoy it more because it's in English.

I truly hope you don't actually believe this. Everytime i see a douchebag-esqe post from a 100% xbot on Neogaf, i look at the avatar to see if its the usual suspects, and you're always up there representing your doucheness.

Jer was my nickname in high school and with my first girlfirend, nobody really calls me that now, though.

Just bought airline tickets to PAX east!

nope. I'm not biased for or against any system. I may be biased against genres or publishers, but I'm not biased against or for any system.

That doesn't mean i don't like one more than the other, but that's my own personal preference. I am allowed to have preferences, or is that too hurtful to your own perceptions of how people should discuss electronic devices?
Were girls stampeding towards Kazuma?
No, I didn't notice an actual difference, sadly. I pretended that was the case, though.

Especially at the Karaoke club.
I can see why people might think the numbers associated with Achievements are "more meaningful" than a Trophy, but they're both the same to me. I like getting them, but ultimately, they're just for giggles. In any case, I don't use them to make my purchasing decisions.
Its funny, I'd rather have an achievement than a trophy, but I'd rather have a platinum than 1000/1000. With 1000 GS I don't feel like I've gotten anything special.
Not that I've actually gotten 1000 in anything.

I watched The Tester. I feel like I deserve a platinum for that.

Yo Jer, I heard when you buy two PS3 copies of the game, you get a nice DLC patch that gives the characters nice, normal American names as a bonus, none of that weird Japanese shit, or cheesy weather names.

Lightning = Linda

Snow = Steve

Osaka Whore = Oprah Wilma

I much enjoyed the 7th page of this GGT. The character of Jer is getting very interesting... I may just do his loyalty mission.

Uh, I'm not sure. I don't watch iCarly, I just think Carly is hot. But in the iCook episode she plays one of the judges, judging some food competition. She has like three lines (from what I saw). I just have this weird thing where I like to see characters I'm familiar with in other shows or movies. Like when Nolan North was on Modern Family - sounded exactly like Drake. Was epic.

lol yeah yeah, i'm not biting on that low hanging trolling morsel.

Square Enix's character names have always been silly just because they're silly, not because of any cultural barriers.
