Oh, by the way, the moderators scared away MarkMan. Thanks.

We had someone who worked at a decent level publisher posting here regularly and he might have left because linkin decided to make the General Gaming Board his own Yahtzee cup.

That might not be the case, actually. I just wanted to end a sentence with "Yahtzee Cup"

I agree. It seems like CAG is losing the main reason I started posting, the great community. I lurked for years before I started contributing, if you can call it that. Now I see everything turning to shit and the people I respect and like leaving because of some stupid shit? It sucks, and I may just end up going back to lurking, or not visiting this site for more than deals.

I don't want to, but CAG isn't fun anymore.

I can't give my impression of games until their release date.
---

This would legitimately be helpful to answer your question, but I can't because people don't know how to read polls.

It seems like LP causes a lot of problems. I can't recall how many threads or replies have blamed LP for something, whether it's editing post, closing posts, merging topics, etc.. MarkMan needs to come back.. if you're reading this MM, PM me!

To keep this on topic with the GGT, Cheapy and I played Saints Row 2 for like an hour today.. it was awesome. I love Saints Row so much more than GTA.

This is a man of wisdom.

Did MarkMan actually post he was leaving? If so, that sucks big time...
edit: After some creative searching, I did find his post where he said he would leave if shit doesn't change. :whistle2:( He's a cool dude, I hope he changes his mind.

I'm with you on that. And I can't believe I'm considering going back to just keeping up on deals and some news. This is insane.

And I'm fucking exhausted. After my doctor's apt. I'm skipping my class today to nap. I

Really? that sucks. MM was a pretty cool guy.

Anyone in here do the buy PixelJunk: Eden and get a code to d/l PixelJunk: Monsters (Encore) for free thing? If so, how long does it take to get the code for PJ:ME?

GTA4 is the next evolution of the series, in a sense. They tried to innovate and re-imagine things, to make things new and fresh and more... epic, i guess? It probably belongs in the drama genre, if something existed for games.

SR and SR2 are like the crass/over-the-top offspring spawned from GTA: SA. To me, SR2 feels like a next gen San Andreas, and that's not a bad thing. I still loathe the respect system, as I'm not happy when a game forces me to play it's minigames, whether I enjoy them or not. I don't have as much of a problem with this in SR2, as they've added more variety, dropped the number of levels per occurrence, and dropped the number of occurrences. Nothing frustrated me more about SR than trying to complete all the activities. I got so pissed, I started trying to do all of one activity just to close them out, and my frustration grew enough that I immediately sold the game. SR2 also adds the element of rewarding you for every 3 activities completed, so that makes it better as well.

Yeah, that could be it. I read that they check to see if you have used a 20 GB on it. Guess mine is under their radar or something. My first one would probably have been rejected.

I didn't enjoy GTAIV. I think because I didn't feel like I could get my $60 out of it. It was neat, but I know I didn't give it a fair chance, but I know I'll purchase it again later on when it's cheaper.

Saints Row's respect system isn't that much of an annoyance to me. For me it really helps build my attitude towards my gang and gang members. I get all in to it, and I really don't feel that way with many games. I think it adds a 4th dimension, making you want to tag where you can and kill other gang members on site and add as much new turf as you can. I think it just makes it more immersive. But I can see how it would be a pain in the ass too. But I mean, answering cell phone calls and going on dates could be considered a pain as well

I forgot to get a doctor's note after my apt, so I need to go back there before I head back to school. So tired... Ugh.

I find it the opposite, as it has nothing to do with the story. And nothing is worse to me than getting into the story missions, and wanting to do the next one, but having to stop to go off and play insurance fraud or some other BS. (Especially crowd control level 6... that one is pissing me off currently... :\)

With GTA4, if someone called me, I could hang up on them. I could skip dating. In fact, I did most of the time. And when someone called me to hang out? "I'm busy, numb nuts, don't call me, I'll call you." Click.
MarkMan's on a trip in Hong Kong, I would think that's why he's not here.
Correct. MM posted in the arcade stick thread today that he has no internet unless he's at the hotel or work and pretty sure he's enjoying the trip then being on the internet all the time heh.

OT: Sucks so far with Socom that I haven't been able to play a single round yet. After fighting with it to sign me in, I had a half gig patch to download (with my slow crappy 512k connection that sucks). Now I can't get past the annoying network initialization screen. What was beta even for if they didn't stress the servers some to make sure they could handle the load. :bomb: :bomb:
How did people misread the poll?
A large majority of the people who put their .02 worth of shit into that thread treated it more as "is piracy ok?" rather than "is talking about games you've played early because of piracy ok?".

I'd forgotten about that, that poll got derailed real quick.

Tried the Brothers in Arms demo on Live last night, didn't like it at all. I thought it would be like a WWII version of R6 Vegas, but it wasn't. I was bored with it after about 10 mins.

I'm sure lots of people like it but it wasn't for me.

Speaking of demos, I played the Eternal Sonata demo on PSN last night. I thought it was very well done for an RPG demo. I died at the boss though. I am really impressed with the art and combat. I didn't know what to expect since I don't read up much on 360 games. But now I am adding it to my list of PS3 games to get.

The combat in the Eternal Sonata demo on the 360 was the bee's knees. Was like a refined star ocean 3... which I loved. And the art was good. I just wasn't quite into the village portion of the demo. :\ Puts me on the fence about whether I'd like the story enough to play through.

Anyone in the COD5 beta? I played a few rounds last night and I'm amazed at how the quality seems to have dropped from COD4... though I'm partial to the modern warfare angle, it just seemed like COD4 with lots of bugs and really bad skinning. (The environments looked pretty good though...) I haven't gotten to try the flamethrower yet... Maybe that will spark some interest... though the bugs in the nazi trainyard... :bomb:

Inference =/= proof

What proof do you have, how can you count something that isn't there?
How did people misread the poll?
Because of the way the poll topic was worded. Morans just saw 'Game Piracy' and clicked no without reading the post.

I just wanna play the silly *ss ghetto story missions.

The respect system is nothing more the filler to make the game play longer than it needs to.

I've been playing the beta and bugs aside, I think it is pretty good. It definitely isn't as appealing to me as CoD4 is, but for people who have been playing CoD4 since launch, it is probably enough of a change to warrant a purchase. I only bought CoD4 used a few months ago so it is still relatively fresh to me.

That being said, playing the War mode has been pretty fun but I absolutely suck with any weapon but the Thompson. I've gotten the aperture sight for it and it makes a huge difference.

The gas grenades are cool and I like that they have perks to negate (or tone down) the effects of most of the different grenades (gas mask, flak jacket, shades). I also like the perk that allows you to revive fallen team members but I haven't actually used it yet.

I don't think I will get World at War simply because I prefer a modern setting and modern weaponry and I'm still playing CoD4 pretty regularly at this point, but I think it is a pretty solid game thus far.

I really need to beat Gta 4 one of these days.

LBP for 45 on Circuit city=I'm buying.

I'll also buy a copy new at walmart on release day, and do the old switcheroo when the CC copy comes in.

Eh. I understand the gripes with SR, and I do agree that it is really just filler, but to look at it another way, it's just another way to make your gang seem that much more feared or whatever. The fact that you need to dip in to other things to advance reads out to me as "gain more respect so you can get to the missions that let you become the best". But it is totally a filler system, just in my case, it's filler I don't mind wading through.

Ah eff, it doesn't work. Slickdeals lied!

Anyone know of a way to move the credit I have on my none prime account to my prime account?

I abused the hell out of the respect system, knowing it's flaws...
I maxed out my style ASAP and have a style level of 6 or 7, so I currently have something like 50x respect and like 10 missions left (without the prologue).

At least the perks/unlockables make it worth it. I'm sailing through the game with the perk I got from finishing my first hitman list.

What level do the filler missions max out at?

I didn't know they maxed out/got you perks...

Had I known, I would've kept at the ones I was at Level 4-5 at, maybe...

Truth be told after a round or two, I just get bored with them...

Only one I found enjoyable was spraying sh*t on the whores/pimps...

No activity location goes past 6.
Things unlock at the halfway point and at completion.
Examples:
First mayhem location: after 3 - 5% off crib upgrades; after 6 - 15% off crib upgrades
Fight Club by Ultor Dome: after 3 - 15% more melee damage; after 6 - 30% more melee damage
Hitman: 1 list - super auto shotgun w/ unlimited ammo, 3 lists - satchel charges at home, 5 lists ... I forget.

oh it was mostly a joke.. mostly sarcasm based on the way most of these kids act when moderators do anything to the GGT.

I'm personally glad we got rid of the customized titles because most of them were just stupid, or had some faux-ghetto crap going on.

In other news, if you're considering SOCOM: Confrontation (I was) you might want to wait it out for a while.

Seems it doesn't really work. The online game doesn't let you play online. Fun. See guys.. FREE online is BETTAR

I don't see anything wrong with my post...what I can't defend myself because I'm a mod?

To answer your question:
Ok here's an idea....here's my main gripe with the threads. You guys change them to some silly ridiculous title every 500posts. There's no need for this as CAG can currently handle more than 500posts. How about we have the following threads:

General Gaming: Fighters
General Gaming: RPG's
General Gaming: Shootem Ups

this way as new users show up, there wont be any confusion since they won't see threads like "Yo bitch I Kicked your moms ass last night while she was giving me a BJ at Fighting Thread #XVII"

Keep them going for as long as you want, or keep them numbered but keep the same title to avoid confusion.
Ah...I see...no harm done jer7583.

Yeah sorry I thought calling your actions shaking a Yahtzee Cup was absurd enough, but sarcasm doesn't work in writing as easily.

Carry on!

I do really thank you for stopping those custom thread titles. They really were jeuvenile. I guess it reminds me of how many of the posters in the GGT are around 13. Why do I post here again?

Bioshock 2 trailer...hmmmm. No Ken Levine, no faith. but I hope they prove me wrong.

well, at least 1 person who actually reads and posts in the threads complained about it.

you know, besides the people who have nothing to do with it and who get easily confused while reading thread titles.

Linkin's example was completely valid.

Thread titles like "IM DAT BISON AND I HATE YO COUCH" don't make any sense and just make the site look dumb. or there's the tasteful and intelligent "GGT80 RAPED YO MAMMA WITH A ROOFI" type stuff.

I agree with the custom titles thing. It could get annoying at times.

So, I think we can make a new thread lol.

I called amazon to switch my credit over to my prime account. Of course they couldn't do it because my non prime account was under my mother's name. I just called back and talked in a girly voice, and it's completely obvious that I'm not a chick. That shit was easier when I was 12. I'm on hold right now.

I, for one, prefer the continuation of a thread, unless it's getting too cluttered, like some of the clearance threads in the deal forums.

My lazy ass would prefer to stay in a thread until I have a reason to change, rather than "oh, we hit 500, let's move on."

I agree that some of the titles were dumb and embarrassing, but most of the titles were fine. it makes things a little more interesting, but no, it's not really a huge deal.

Of course, the thread linkin actually posts in, the OTT, has had retarded thread titles forever. "LOL Darthbudge something something is fat blah caqui pants and that one girl has huge tits and its funny blah OTT." Yet its immune.

anyway, the issue is how he decided to just merge everything instead without discussing anything and the embarrassing logic he used to justify it. Just goes to show he sucks at modding/controlling people and I'm probably gonna get an infraction for saying that, but it doesn't make it any less true.

NES.

edit: my vote is to keep this one going. If there is something important enough to look for, then you just search this one thread instead of the whole forum.

I think we should just keep this one going, maybe lose the number.

Things will look a lot neater then.

I understand your point Ninja Dog, but this isn't the OTT. If we want to post nonsense we can do it there. There's no need for the GGT to become the faux OTT.

noice.

I have two pre-orders for LBP so I got the codes for DLC and yet I'm not really interested in it after watching all those youtube videos and hearing people complain about the controls.
I saw a grand total of 1 level that kicked ass. But Preston hasn't posted a video of On Like Donkey Kong yet, so maybe there's 2.
I'll probably pick up my BB pre-order, though I'm unsure what I'll do with it... Trying to figure out what to move my $5 GS preorder to... is there anything with awesome pre-order bonuses coming out soon?

Speaking of, when does Castlevania: OoE come out for the DS?
