What's the difference between writing an MP3 with Constant or Variable BitRate?
Use constant bitrate when you want to limit the file size. Use variable bitrate when you don't care about file size and want higher quality.

I'm so tempted to get Red Faction from gogamer....argh.
What's your field of work? (Only answer if it's something other than graphic design).
Electronic intermedia....

it's basically motion graphics + computer design + programming + film + 3D sculpting + alot of other things...

it's basically like majoring in painting except your tools are a computer and software instead of paint and a brush...

it may sound like graphic design but it's nothing like it if you look at what needs to be taken.

Macs are great but they're really overpriced and you're kinda throwing money away. Color management on modern PCs is almost as good as mac computers and the persistence of them in art fields is somewhat exaggerated. The preference in digital art has more to do with tradition than practicality. Especially if you're doing 3D. That's more of a PC area.

That $2k macbook really isn't going to do a whole lot more than my $800 ASUS. It's a bit faster with the bump in the type of ram and processor, and I'm pretty sure the graphics card is almost equivalent. But not worth $1,200.00 more. But that's just me.

If price is not an issue, that's what macbooks exist for, I suppose. If I were you'd I'd get a good quality $1,000.00 PC and spend the other grand on the software you need. Cause that shit isn't cheap either.

One thing that mac does have over PC in terms of what I work with is some programs that are pretty much essential to what I do that's not available on PC or if something is similar on PC it's nowhere as good.

I want a powerful PC, but at the same time I need something I can actually work on. Yeah, macs are expensive as fuck, I agree, but if I do get one it's going to save me alot of headaches down the road.

oh, and I barely do 3d stuff... it's mostly video work, and less 3D.

Well for video you're going to want a fuckton of ram, as much processor as you can afford, and the same with hard drive space. You're going to spend more time waiting on things to render with a laptop than an equivalently priced desktop, but that's just a preference.

I'd get a desktop, but right now based off how I'm living and what I do mostly, a laptop is more needed. Plus I'm very patient with computer editing work so it's nothing new to me. I know it takes alot of time.

Believe me, I've edited 3 seconds of footage for 5 hours (not including rendering time), so I know what it's like.

From the looks of it I'll prob get a macbook pro unless I'm impressed with a PC laptop that's too good to pass up.

Macs are retardedly expensive, but the unibodies have the best build quality of any laptop I've used. Also, the new macbook pros don't have removable batteries, something to keep in mind.

One other thing, is Apple itself is offering discounts to students (on its website at least) and you can get up to $229 off towards an iPod when you buy it with a mac computer.

I just finished case 7 in Dead Rising, so I'll probably actually beat it. Where's this difficulty that everyone was complaining about? There's a cheap boss or 2, but if I can do it, it can't be that bad. I guess people just gave up on understanding the save system.

Fight the true last boss. I forgot how to get the true ending, but go for it. That boss suuuuuuuuucks.
Eat Lead: Return of Matt Hazard.

Worth $15 new?
Without even having played it I'm going to say probably not. $10 maybe but it would probably be just fine as a rental. If you can get it for $15 , beat it , then resell it/trade it to recoup most/all of your cost though then sure go for it. Have it on my gamefly list but haven't gotten it yet.

Well, looks like I can buy a second game along wiith it that's also on clearance and flip that one on ebay to get it for essentially free. (local store deals)
Hmm, I might just try it that way.

I almost want it just for Will Arnett, and hope it's at least a little funny.

Well, yeah, Capcom final bosses are rarely much fun. I read about it a bit, looks like you have to go hand-to-hand the whole time. Which is bad.

I rented it and i really liked it. Hardly worth 60, but it was funny and voice acting kicked booty. I thought the achievements were fun as well and kept you playing till the end. Well worth a play through for sure.

I'm doing a good job of collecting sealed games. First Persona 4 and Valkyria Chronicles, both sealed, now Tales of Vesperia soon. Sealed RPGs FTW.

Oh, and Battle Fantasia is fun.

The Military Consume missions in Prototype are pretty annoying... I think I'm ready to put the game down. Just in time for Uncharted to arrive from Goozex.

Lost Odyssey continues to Impress me. I'm 12 hours in on Disc 2. I think this might be the first RPG I've played that doesn't have a single character that doesn't annoy me
even the chillen aren't too obnoxious
.

You might be the only one who feels that way.
Where is that at?
it was last week just got my cash cards in a few days ago so thats why im so late on ordering

Just got back from my stepsister's birthday party at Applebee's.
I thought about Talladega Nights the entire time.

It feels weird playing BoFIV. Not in a bad way, though. It's just all of these memories rushing back into my head about how I didn't know jack shit about the intracicies of the combat system back then.

I think BoFIV is probably my favorite of the series as far as gameplay and such, but the story was a little wonky, especially the switching back and forth between playing the main hero and main villain. The ending wasn't too great either.

Still got BoF Dragon Quarter on the backlog to get around to eventually. Wasn't it made by the same team that did that Mega Man RPG? I thought that Mega Man RPG wasn't too bad, if a bit simplistic.

I still keep hoping Capcom will do a current-gen Breath of Fire RPG.

Prototype's story is awful. But it's really fun to play. In a ninja gaiden sort of way.
Spoilers please.
I think the main thing was that
The end boss isn't anything special. It's an enemy you've fought before. Also yeah, the story sucks, everyone backstabs everyone. Anyone can see it coming from 2 miles away, across the block, and two towns over. Also no conclusion to the story. I hate it when that happens. Infamous did it too...but at least that has an interesting story.

Very fun game though. I may or may not go back to it.

Next up is Red Faction Guerilla. Also been playing Crimson Gem Saga on PSP.

Crap, with all this talk of people loving prototype, I may have to give it another try. The delayed attacks were so painful to tolerate but maybe I was just having an off day.
Prototype is solid. Just don't expect a great story or great voice-acting.

It really is fun. The story really is just there to give you a reason to kill more things.
Second chance confirmed, thanks guys.
Mercenaries 2 may have the worst AI out of any next gen game I've ever played, well worth my $10 though.
I had some good times with that game. Namely through online co-op. Running around and launching the nuke you get on the very last mission on random buildings is lots of fun.

What console are you playing on?

Anyone know Gamestop's return policy for used accessories? I want to try the 360 wireless adapter without being forced to keep it if it doesn't help.
