I hate school btw. Waking up early is hard.
I just moved back in to my dorm yesterday. I've got to get up stupid early the next few days for RA training. Not looking forward to any of it. Except the paycheck on friday :D

But I'm off to play more DQIV. I hope to have it beaten by the weekend, though that may be doubtful seeing as how I seem to suck at grinding.
that thread makes me realize how much older people are on CAG or at least if they are young, they don't post on CAG. Something like this was sadly expected IMHO, but I was expecting it from GFaqs.
Like, I can understand bringing up the that thread over here so we can laugh at the dweebs elsewhere. But the fact that they had users come over here or already had users over here to cause more mischief makes their site look bad. I mean, all anyone is doing in that thread is defending CAG on their home turf. It's not like they're going out of their way to be dicks.

Haha

Well, he's arguing that CAG sucks for trading. But like... is trading really the emphasis of this site? I don't think so... but I've been wrong in the past
You still work at GS Rei? Do you know if the stores are only stocking for pre-orders, or do you have an extra copy or two for walk-ins? I guess this is a question for NIS, Atlus, or other possible "niche" or PS2 new-release games in general as well.
It depends on the game and the number of preorders. I think we got 4 copies of Ar Tonelico 2, and had 2 preorders. For Persona 4 we had like 3 preorders, and about 7 copies. In fact, just got 3 more copies in today of Persona 4 after being sold out since the release week.
what time in the morning does GS usually get their pre-order games? I want skate 2 as soon as possible.
Anywhere from 11am-1pm.

Does anyone know why I can't see the trade/sell threads at NeoGAF? Is it because I'm a junior member?

I'd ask there, but I'd probably get banned.

What's the deal with Dan in SF games? I know he's supposed to be some sort of joke, but I just don't get it. I think I'd rather have DeeJay or one of the SFIII characters in SF4. The same goes for rose too. :\

You get paid to be an RA at your school? Here they just pay for your room and board (AKA total tuition price is the price it would be to commute)

Yeah Dan is a joke. Dan is a parody of both Ryo sakazaki and Robert Garcia from Art Of Fighting.
I got Grid today. Awesome game.

Erm..

we agree?

*WORLD ENDS*

How slick is that menu system?

I was disappointed that Karin isn't in the game.
I'm aware of the main selling point of this series. I still enjoy the games very much. The battle system is a lot of fun, but even that really hinges on you caring about the reyvateils.
It's fine, I'm just kidding around. Just don't post any blogs where your figures go out for a picnic.
You get paid to be an RA at your school? Here they just pay for your room and board (AKA total tuition price is the price it would be to commute)
Yep. It's pretty nice having some change in my pocket. I wish it were more... but I mean, the emphasis of the payment really falls in to the fact that I'm living in the "best" dorm on campus for free. But a fat man who games and plays Warhammer 40k and has an expensive girlfriend cannot live off of $132.48 every two weeks. Of course I could just downgrade my lifestyle

I dumped 3 hours into DQIV last night at the casino. I spent so much time gambling on monster battles. I got so pissed at it though that I didn't bother saving or anything and just flipped the game shut in anger. Hah...

And this is (so far) day two of a diet. It's working out pretty well. Grapes and carrots are good snack foods.

I have a bag of craisins in my office drawer.

Finished HS last night. Holy fuck that game is short. It's a good thing I paid $20 for it or I might have to choke a bitch.
I was disappointed that Karin isn't in the game.
Me too.

So I played some Way of the Samurai last night. It's been a long time, but that game is still so good. fuck the haters. So now I'm thinking about any hidden gems in the PS2's library. Since that game is 6 bucks used at GS and it's easily obtainable, I wonder what else I could get that's good and cheap.

So GGT, recommend some hidden PS2 gems for me. I tend to like almost anything IF it's good. Though I already have a good size PS2 collection, I'd like to round it out with some more goodness.
I recall Way of the Samurai being an ok game back when I rented it a few years ago.
My friend and I were obsessed with it when it came out in early 2002. We rented it, and played it for 3 days straight. We got all the endings and all of the weapons. You can run through it in like an hour or so, so we just took turns trying to figure out each path you could take through the game. It was a blast. We bought copies when it was dirt cheap like 6 months later.

I want the WotS3 to come over here, but it probably won't.
I remember trying out that Jet Li game for the PS2 a while back, and it was a pretty fun beat-em-up. I wonder if it still holds up?
Rise To Honor, and I remember thinking the demo was decent. It's probably so cheap now too.

I assume your talking about Heavenly Sword? If so, where did you get it for $20?

SNK's Ryo. that's all you need to know.
Anyone played Ar Tonelico 2 yet? I just heard of the game today. The screen shots look really cool.
See Rei's comments a few pages back.

I'm srsly thinking of skipping skate 2 and getting Ar Tonelico 2 instead. If skate 2 was just open world skating, it'd be a no brainer, but I don't like doing the forced challenges. And as much as I like the idea of being able to do stuff off the board, the way it's implemented in skate 2 could be vastly improved in skate 3. I'll need to see if my GS even has the game this afternoon. If they don't have any copies of AT2, then skate 2 it is...

it's open world, you just have goals to run through like the first game.
it's open world, you just have goals to run through like the first game.
Yeah, I don't like that. At least, I'm not keen on the challenges for those goals.

I just want to skate around and mess around.

Correct. Amazon Black Friday deal.
SNK's Ryo. that's all you need to know.
Yeah, I think I knew that. Capcom did it because Ryo was a pretty blatent ripoff of Ryu. God I hate the character though. Precious roster space wasted! o_O Bad enough they included that fat bitch Rufus as one of their new characters (what the fuck is up with obese martial artists in fighting games now -- wasn't Tekken 6 adding an obese American martial artist named Billy Bob or something? :whistle2:s).

Agreed 100%. It's just Bob in Tekken 6, and that fat bastard is upper tier too.

Finny the Fish, Psi-Ops

Also, Ratchet&Clank Future is consuming me.
Finny the Fish, Psi-Ops

Finny the Fish looked all fucked up, and I mean that in a good way. And I forgot about Psi-Ops completely. I should check them out.
Dark Cloud 2.
I had DC2 ages ago, and I sold it. I'm going to get another copy and give it another shot.
I've heard good things about Metal Arms: Glitch in the System and I-Ninja
Metal Arms was alright, and I've never played I-Ninja, outside of the demo. The demo didn't really grab me though.

And I'll recommend some for good measure, besides Way of the Samurai. The sequel was supposedly trash, but I haven't played it for more than a minute or two.

Robotic Alchemic Drive. Hell yes. I love this game. Big robots smashing into each other and wrecking a city you are supposed to be protecting is too much fun, and it's so unique in its control. And the story is just pure lulz, thanks to some pretty bad voice acting.

Magic Pengel. It's a pretty offbeat Monster Rancher/RPG style game in which you draw your monsters and use them to fight other monsters and progress the story. I've never finished it, but drawing penis monsters is pretty amusing. :)

Those are quite tasty. I should pick some up when I'm out of trail mix.

Any maybe cml for Heavenly Sword ;) I've always been a bit curious about it.

R.A.D, Psi-Ops,DC 2 are pure win. I would LOVE to see a next-gen version of R.A.D.!
Rygar is a great hidden PS2 gem.
I respectfully disagree. The game was simple/short/easy/disappointing. Also they're porting it to the Wii (not sure when it releases though).

As if you didn't already know, you should most definitely play ICO.

I would say Rygar is pre God of War. But after GoW definitely not.

Rygar was pretty good, especially for the $5 bucks I paid for it new. I miss EB's morning updates. . .

The Red Star seemed cool, but I don't have it yet.

ICO, most def. If you haven't played it, then play it.

I liked Contra Shattered Soldier. It beat my ass, but it's actually really good IMO.

Neo Contra, on the other hand, isn't very good. It tried some different things, but it just wasn't very good.

Gradius V is so good though. I think I'll play that later.

Way of the Samurai really was an excellent game... I'm picking up another copy since yeah, it's pretty clear that selling it was a bad move. Basically Bushido Blade: The Adventure Game.

There's not a whole lot of other hidden gems on the system though... Contra: SS and Gitaroo Man are a couple of examples, and if import shooters like the Cave games and Psyvariar 2 count, then those as well... but stuff like Psi-Ops, I-Ninja, Red Star, Metal Arms - those were just mediocre as hell. I'd rather play any Cabela's game than half of those.
