The change in the information board to being a mandatory feature is the worst thing about 3.0, as it's still there when you sign out. There's needs to be some options to turn these extraneous things off (extra store links and information board/ticker).

Oh yes. Some good Metroid Prime Trilogy. The Steel tin is SWEET. I wish Nintendo would make more collector edition type games.

Been watching some TV also. Anyone catch the leaked first episode for Dexter Season 4? I can't wait.

Hate is such a strong word. I don't hate it, but they do need to give back the option to turn off the info bar at least. I wonder why they took that away?

That's ok, I guess Rodimus. If you don't need the WiFi or HDMI, then it's still cheaper than a Slim if you upgrade the HDD.

I'd rather just spend the $60-70 to get WiFi, HDMI, and Lossless, just because I'm an A/V nerd wannabe. :p

From what I understand the 20GB PS3 is BC, right? If so that's a nice plus since that would eliminate my PS2.

I'd be lying if I didn't want HDMI but I'm willing to sacrifice it to finally own a PS3 on the cheap. And my WiFi is slow as hell so I'd wire it up regardless. I predict I'll still use my 360 for the majority of my gaming so the small hard drive would only be for exclusive titles & PSN games.

Anybody here know good sites too look at American Universities? I want in on film studies, and I've looked primarily at USC and NYU (both of which seem insanely difficult to get in). I've just been looking thorugh universities as I need to start making decisions in a few months...

The 20 as well as the 60 and limited with one of the 80s. Make sure you know what you're getting into though.

While in BC mode, every PS3 regardless of model or output you use needlessly buffers 3 frames of video. You're basically looking at a 50ms input delay before we even get to the delay on your TV from video processing. If you're a rhythm/fighting/shmup enthusiast who gets annoyed by such things, fair warning.

I wonder if they fixed it with the slim.

Anyone have experience with TRU's Buyer Protection Plan on a video game? I got it for Arkham, just registered. The guy promised me I can get my full money back within 15 months pretty much no matter what shape the game is in. Confirm/deny.
All PS3's have HDMI.
Ah that's right. At first Sony didn't want to include it in the 20GB, but changed their mind at TGS.

I'd still rather shell out a little more for automatic HDD upgrade, WiFi, and Lossless, though. BC is less of a issue for me since I never got rid of my PS2 Slim.

I don't too much for 3.0 but the animated themes are $. If they eliminate the ticker and allow me to resize the icons/font it's all gravy then..

Weird. I was expecting with how much you raved about its addictiveness when it came out.

I'd say my Game of the Year from what I've played so far is Plants vs. Zombies, such a great, addictive game with a ton of value. Splosion Man and Infamous are close behind. I could Assassin's Creed 2, Uncharted 2, Gran Turismo PSP, PixelJunk Shooter, or Batman: Arkham Asylum contending for that title for me.

Can I get this info in a pie chart?

Oh, who gives a fuck? Really?
I have to agree with you.

It's no longer in the category of graphics whores... people are now either rez whores or just HD douches.

I want a Slim badly. Hopefully next paycheck. I want to play Motorstorm a lot.

Finished Halo Wars. It was pretty fun. Turned into "make ODST squads:the game" near the end, though.

Going to try to finish GTA4 now.

The Metroid differences don't look like anything worth getting to upset over. But I would be annoyed if I bought it and had two last gen games that looked worse than they did last gen--especially given the console can play the last gen games.

I like GTA4 a lot, i just never sunk enough time into it. The controls are pretty bad, but I like everything else about it.

The Metroid Prime thing is pretty disappointing. The water doesn't make ANY sense. I can see the gun stuff, because they probably had to make some changes for how the gun animates with the pointer and didn't take the time to transition those effects over. Changing perspectives on 3D shit can do goofy things with depth placement of objects and exposing holes in the geometry. It looks like they changed a lot about how the arm cannons look.

I would have thought they'd take the time to get it right, since it's taking up a quarter of the screen almost all the time in that game.

Well I've still got the GameCube ones so it's all good.

HD sound.

 Assassins Creed 2.

I'm slowly paying off my $90 Collectors edition. I'm such a sucker when it comes to AC.
If GTAIV isnt ur flavor, dont let it turn you off from the episodes since I think they are alot better then the main game.
I have recently started getting back into GTAIV and forgot about how well crafted the games environment is. Although, after about an hour into this impossible quest and inevitably dieing and then having to retry the ENTIRE mission. I gave up and I will never play the game again, what a horrible design flaw.

Speaking of HD sound, it's killing me that I have to wait for my TV to get fixed before I can experience my new Snell and Emotiva speakers.

Can't believe it went out the day I got them home.
Looking forward to breaking in the Snells with a couple new Beatle albums tomorrow though if I can get that mono box set.

Pretty much spot on. Kind of sad that you re-release games from last generation's console, and they actually look worse on your new machine.

I've got a problem with 5.1 in Lost Odyssey. In certain types of cutscenes, it sounds like the dialog is only coming out of the left front speaker, instead of left and right. If I get close to the right speaker, I can hear the music, and the dialog is playing, but very low.

The fancy CG cutscenes sound fine, and the voice that comes out when in-game sounds fine, it's the cutscenes in between these that sound wrong. Anyone else have this problem? I think the same thing was happening in Eternal Sonata, but I was playing the PS3 version so I can't blame it on either system.
