It was so bad, I traded in my copy VERY fast. I just couldn't suffer to play the 2nd werehog stage when I started to play it. Thankfully I got it dirt cheap and didn't lose much when trading it in.

I just got my SingStar songs re-authorized so I just downloaded them all to my new PS3 slim. I was out of town yesterday, but today I'm looking at taking it easy due to no work and have a bunch of video games I need to play.
What happened to your original PS3 that caused you to buy a slim?
What happened to your original PS3 that caused you to buy a slim?
My original PS3 (20GB) still works the last time I tried it (a few days ago). I bought a new one for the following reasons:
-I wanted a PS3 that would use much less power and not heat up the room so much.
-WiFi (my PS3 had no WiFi, and WiFi is needed for Ad-Hoc online, and there are times I cannot hard wire).
-While my PS3 was still much quieter than my 360, I wanted a PS3 that would be even more quiet.
-Warranty was way out
-I just really wanted a smaller/more compact PS3 that takes up less room.

I could careless about losing the PS2 BC, only thing that sucked is having a smaller HDD initially (I'm going to buy a 500GB one once I get a deal) and re-downloading all my games (losing a few locked saves since the back-up utility could not back them up). At first I might have wondered what I was doing, but now the slim has been very well worth it. I honestly don't know what I'll do with my old PS3. Part of me wants to keep it for collection purposes (I have more than one model PS1 and PSP), but part of me rather sell it and just get a 2nd slim for my bedroom with most of the money (so I can watch movies and play games in my bedroom also). I still have the original box and everything that came with my older PS3, but the box is back at my parents house (and I won't be visiting them for quite a while).

I just need a bluetooth keyboard to pretty much eliminate the need for 4USB ports (I normally don't use up more than 1, but using a USB keyboard kind of hurts it).

I could probably bundle my sixaxis controllers and some PS2 games with the console and get enough to get a slim... but it just doesn't seem worth the hassle to me at this point.

That's mostly understandable. ;)

I wouldn't mind "upgrading" but I'd lose a lot of the stuff I've gotten through gamershare, I think. Also, I still care a little about PS2 BC -- I don't use it all that often, but when I get an urge to work on what's left of my PS2 backlog, it's nice to be able to do it on my LCD with a wireless controller. I'd like to hold out hope that Sorny would eventually bring software emulation to the PS3 allowing it to play PS2 games again... There's just a ton of stuff I've kept that I'd not want to get rid of -- Megaman/Megaman X collections, SF Anniversary, MGS:Essentials, etc.

I'll welcome mana knight by saying Killzone 2 is a damn fine game and I'm enjoying it a lot. Even online. There's some pretty big lag probs online but I like how the game mode changes.

I think im about halfway through. Those trigger clip ons help a lot.

What you do is logon to the share accounts, de-activate your PS3 for game content. Log-in to the new PS3, re-download all the stuff (which will activate to the new PS3). That's what I did for a few DLC I had shared with a friend. He did the same thing to me when I let him have some of my PSN stuff.

My PS2 still works (my fat one) and hooked up to an SDTV. I have wireless controllers for it also which work great. I am debating whether I should upgrade it to a slim, since I never bought a slim PS2 (due to buying my fat PS2 a little late, not a launch model like my PS1, PS3, and PSP). I'm also considering replacing my 360, but dunno which one I'd get.
Hey The Mana Knight. How've you been doing, man?
Mostly good. I returned since things are settling and a few certain issues seem to be resolved, but I can't really get into it.

I wanted to shoot myself in the head when Sonic started talking to that annoying ass rabbit thing who can't remember who he is. Sonic shouldn't talk, he's a hedgehog. Sega really better redeem themselves with this new 2D Sonic game.

Probably.

I'm not sure which is the last 2D sonic game I remember fondly...probably sonic 3 + knuckles or sonic CD (for traditional 2D gamplay)... I also have a weakspot for sonic spinball for some reason.

I suddenly have an urge to go play through Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles (genesis collection so no lock on :bomb:).

People are too fucking good on that uncharted beta. It's really fun though. Does a better job being gears of war than gears of war does.

Exactly what I want to hear, U2 multiplayer turns Gears of War.

Not sure what drugs you're on, but you should pack some up and send them to your good buddy frosty.

I haven't lost a game in the Uncharted 2 beta. You must really suck at it, then.

I've only played 1 co-op game :p

Played some more Infamous. I'm probably it wrong. I'm in the first area, and all I'm doing is going for Battery Shards and stunts (I've done 10 so far). I'm also playing it on Easy as an Evil guy. I really want to make sure I do all the stunts, though. Because I know at some point (if you play your cards right) enemies won't spawn anymore.

I've done all the stunts on both my playthrough... most of them are easier if you play as good, because you can augment your shockwave attack to keep an enemy levitated, making air sticky bomb, air head shock, and air blast and bolt much easier.

Other tips -- the building they force you to find the first dead drop on sometimes spawns 3 gang members. this is a great place to go for doing "have a nice fall".

Otherwise, start trying early to find a nice perch to jump off then thunderslam someone for "splash and crash". that one is probably one of the 2-3 hardest to pull off (for me). The other one that was kind of aggravating was "right back at ya" where you have to shockwave a grenade back at the user and kill him -- for that there is a spot toward the end of the second island where you and zeke will be doing a mission and you'll be activating elevators... before you activate the second elevator, there is a guy who just chucks endless 'nades. keep trying there. if you screw it up, just blow yourself up with sticky bombs. climb back up and try again.

Splash and Crash is definitely going to give me trouble. 3 buttons in close proximity to an enemy in quick succession is going to be tough. I didn't know that about Good having better powers for stunts, though. I'm like...9% complete and I have 70 shards collected at this point. I got close to Right Back at Ya, though. A couple of times, actually.

Splash and Crash might be done if I can get a single enemy stunned first so they don't move, then do it that way.

anyone else getting odst?
think im gonna pick it up since im getting ridiculous value from trading in games to tru and tru is giving out a $20 gift card+ action figure for buyin it there
also i just won an sgt johnson code :D

I was thinking about it. But I'll probably only play the single player so I'll wait for a good deal. A $20 GC sounds nice but I rarely shop at TRU so it wouldn't be worth it for me.

im mainly getting it cuz my rl friend loves halo and firefight was pretty fun when i played it at the odst truck that and trade ins+ gift card deal

i'll also have money left over with the gc so i can go pick up another game for around half off combined with the halo gc

i'll prolly pick up batman tekken 6 or modern warfare 2 with the gcs(already preordered brutal legend for $30)

I really did not like the Uncharted 2 beta... alot more than I wanted to. It's good but it's got too much funk for me to have fun with it.

On a side note, played Beatles RB with family tonight and beat it. Loved it and will keep loving it with the upcoming DLC.

Agrees with both.

I can't wait for Rubber Soul DLC so I can play Norwegian Wood.

Guess I'm done w/ Batmang. Beat the game, got all Riddler challenges, and found the Spirit of Arkham. Nothing left to do except for challenge rooms and I'm not feeling that. Seems to be pure button mashing.

I found the challenges to be fun when you only have 20 minutes to kill, so just pop in, play a challenge, and your good. The challenge rooms pretty much are just used to exemplify the excellent stealth and combat mechanics in the game.

Well I might do some of the predator challenges since I loved the stealth part.

Not sure what game I want to move on to next. I could go deep in to the backlog and finish Assassins Creed, SW:TFU, or Prince of Persia. Or I could fire up Call of Juarez or Sacred 2. :whistle2:k

Getting hyped for ODST - Invite me to some firefight games, Nelo Ice.

The game's looking really good, I like the overworld, heavier story stuff.

Then rocktober is Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend.. YES

I am. Add me if you want to do some Firefight.

Well, depends on how fast your reflexes are. :D But it's definitely easier on good because the upgraded shockwave levitates people so the "air" whatever stunts (and suspended sentence) are more controllable.

For Splash and Crash, once I got the idea, I was able to get it on the first island on my evil playthrough. Just find a small building with 1 reaper on top of it and something tall like a water tower. You can climb to the top of the water tower, shoot the reaper with a regular bolt to flush him out and get him moving, then do the splash and crash. You should only shoot once and then try the Thunder drop. Odds are the Thunder drop is what will miss... if it does, climb back up on the tower, wait for a good shot as the reaper moves around the roof, jump, shoot, crash.

If you have any problems with the rest of them, let me know and I'll try to remember where I did them and how.

Finish AC so you're ready for AC2, if you're interested in AC2, that is. PoP and SF:TFU are pretty short as well. I've not played the last 2, so I can't really comment on them, though neither looked like a game I'd be interested in and both seem much longer than the ~10 or so total hours for each TFU and PoP... AC probably runs a little longer, but is probably shorter than CoJ.
Sure is. Did you just start?
I'd been away from it for a while, but now I'm playing through it as my main game so I'm giving it some uninterrupted attention.
Depends. Playing it before the DLC, that level cap was pretty freakin' bogus. :|
A friend was telling me about was that if you get the Broken Steel DLC the Galaxy Radio guy starts talking about end-of-game spoilers.

I'll maybe buy that DLC when I hit the level cap, if I want to keep going with it.
While I was talking with a certain CAG I went to a theme park yesterday with (cannot reveal who), we discussed how Sega will still find a way to mess it up.
Why did you guys think Trakan was fat? And does Inufaye have stretch marks around his Jin Kazama tattoo?
I'll maybe buy that DLC when I hit the level cap, if I want to keep going with it.
I just got really annoyed by all the combat when I stopped being rewarded for it. I suppose I'd be the same way if I hit a level cap in any other RPG as well... like with FF6, I used to love random encouters until all my party members had learned every spell. Then I was like "this is fucking pointless" and would be annoyed every time it spun me into a random encounter.

It just... it's more of a hassle... like "yeah, i'm going to make your head asplode, hurry up and get out of my fucking way, i'm going over there to get this quest done."

So tired. Spent the weekend at a neat theme park.

JK

Good to see TMK back!

Two questions about your upgrade to the Slim. I've had these two sticking points that have kept me from upgrading.

1. How did you deauthorize your Singstar purchases? I didn't think this was possible.
2. What about your copy-protected game saves?
I know of a workaround for this but can't confirm it works as I haven't done it myself.
If I can get my Singstar stuff, and protected saves copied over, then I don't need this 20GB.

I'm pretty sure he just moved on without his copy protected saves, dallow.

What games use these and what's the workaround? If I ever grab a slim, it might be useful.

I see your point, at least Fallout 3 counteracts that hassle with slo-motion head explosions.

I'm not sure I'll ever get bored of Raiders heads rolling down hills.

It's a bit random which games use them. But they're in the minority.
Still, don't want to lose my SFIV save, KZ2 save, etc.

Workaround is that instead of using your PS3 account and doing a backup/restore, you use a dummy account.

So you make a new user on your PS3.
Use that one to make a backup to an external HD.
Restore to new PS3.
And somehow, the copy-protected saves that normally don't save over, will do.
Few people that I know did it say it worked, but I want to be 100% sure.
