Is there any way to hook my PS2 slim up to a monitor that only has HDMI, DVI, and VGA? I want to go through my backlog of ps2 titles (Yakuza 1/2, GOW2, and Persona 4) but I don't feel like playing them on my old tv.
What sorts of things should I be looking out for? Ive never played a Mega Man game before.
Be on the lookout for sudden dick moves. The game will totally blindside you every once-in-a-while. Other than that, just watch the patterns.

And when you get them, abuse the fuck out of the tornado, hornet, and jewel weapons.
I'm finally playing through Yakuza 1. If #2 and #3 fix the horrible aiming during fights, I may have found a new series to be in love with.
The combat in Yakuza 1 is way better than it was in the first. It's quicker and easier to attack multiple enemies. The aiming is still sorta there though.

Seems AC2 now has release day delivery on amazon now. Too bad I placed my giant order when the stacking still worked and can't change it. Oh well savings are worth the wait lol.

Been playing GH5 most of the day. Probably gonna go play some Demon's Souls in a bit.

When do I get those?

All you have to do is learn where enemies spawn and you'll be fine.

Oh, and as far as dick moves are concerned, you should know when they're about to happen. 100% obvious. But they're awesome dick moves.

Damn, I thought I was finally done with the addictive collect-a-thon of Dissidia, only to find out that when you beat it you open up an even more addictive collect-a-thon mode.

I dunno about that 100% obvious. I got blindsided on the
disappearing platforms on Plug Man's stage and on the final reverse gravity section of Wily's castle
.

But really, jewel shield for farming health/screws/energy, hornet chaser for grabbing difficult powerups, and tornado thing for kicking the shit out of motherfuckers. Once you get those, you should be set.

Don't forget the ghost battles that you can farm for materials for even MORE items/weapons. :)
Sounds like your problem is a result of one of my many complaints about WRPGs, you have "freedom," but the game isn't really built to let you play however you want.
Yeah, I remember talking to you about this with Fallout 1. Now there's a game that doesn't need difficulty settings - you can handicap yourself to your heart's content just by not giving yourself any agility points.

Still, some games handle it a helluva lot better than others. The old Fallouts did a pretty decent job of it, as you could avoid most fighting in that game. A more combat-oriented game like Mass Effect is obviously going to make things pretty tough on you. Oblivion is probably the worst offender I've ever seen, though; Planescape Torment the best.

Ugh, don't say that. I stopped Torment because I was getting torn apart by low level rats because I had focused on non-combat skills. I really have to start that game again, when I have the patience for it.

Classic mistake.

This is Planescape, Pete. There's no such thing as low-level rats. Those guys are powerful, vicious motherfuckers. Seeing as how you pumped non-combat skills - hopefully with an emphasis on wisdom, 'cause wisdom is badass in that game - you should try talking to the rats instead. Negotiate with them. Trust me, it'll get you a lot further.

EDIT: Actually, come to think of it, most of the rat-related stuff is entirely optional. My first run-through, I totally ignored the Many As One. Killed the rat spies, though.

Also, remember that death is usually not a bad thing. And that Morte is the only thing remotely resembling a tank until you get a few points into your constitution; Dak'kon can't take shit for damage.

EDIT2: And don't worry about missing out on combat EXP because you're avoiding fights. Unless you're going after Glaabrezu in the sewers, the vast majority of your EXP will come from outside of combat, where high intelligence/charisma/wisdom will really help.

EDIT3: And if you really want to kill the rats/are forced to fight because you pissed them off, remember that they're way easier if you can catch them alone or in very small groups. Failing that, if you can kill enough of a large group, you should scare most of the rest off.

Crap, I want to cancel one of my Amazon orders with the dead 30% discounts to get DJ Hero (i feel in love with it after playing it).

I'd cancel in a second a week ago, but someone said the deal is really dead, as in the discount won't go to my new order as they did before. Is this true?

At Best Buy with a little speaker setup they had. Tried the three mixes in the demo.
It was good stuff!

The only thing that worries me is the slider thing, feels too loose which kind of messed me up a few times. Wish it had just a little more resistance.

So...I just reached this one part in Lost Odyssey on Disc 3. Man...why do people complain about the length of Metal Gear Solid cutscenes and not this again?

Oh, and this game still looks like a PS2 game.

Yeah, the codes with the #s at the beginning were completely expired. Don't do it unless you want to lose 10%, possibly more.

I'm going to hold out hope that no one is going to buy DJ Hero Renegade and it will drop by at least 30% all by itself.

its also been getting positive impressions from ppl on gaf that have played the full game
now i really hope the game comes to me today cmon ups! :bouncy:

I gave this game up 8 years ago, you're lucky I even remember who Morte is. I do remember that my party was me, Morte and one other character, and browsing through FAQs showed me that there were a couple more characters that I felt ripped off for not having. I wonder if, through some miracle, my save file is still on my old laptop. I'll have to look.

What's in the order you want to cancel?

My mind is blown
What's in the order you want to cancel?
Want to take off Liberty City Stories and Sands of Destruction (ds) and keep Borderlands, plus add DJ Hero.
It's too bad I won't dedicate the time I'd like to Brutal Legend since Uncharted 2 also comes out tomorrow.
Oh come on. It'll take you like 10 hours to beat the single player of Uncharted 2. Unless you're into the multiplayer, you can go back to brutal legend in a couple days.

That sucks -- I was going to say, if it was games I was interested in, maybe I'd float you what you paid for them so you could put it toward DJ Hero or whatever... but I've never heard of Sands of Destruction and I already have half of LCS.

The TRU B2G1 sale is tempting since Brutal Legend and Uncharted 2 comes out this week... but I can only afford one game right now so I'll just get Uncharted 2.

But I like the MP in UC2.

go donate bodily fluids for $$$.

Why does Dead Rising have to have such shitty gun mechanics a la Resident Evil. I can't get past this first guy (in Backup for Brad) that runs around in the rafters. :bomb:

It's definitely not for me -- though I still want to try coop sometime if you still own the game by the time I get ahold of it.

The way the MP beta handles lag is unforgivable. :(
I'm pretty sure you can climb up there with him. Just make sure to attempt that while he's reloading.
I just chilled in the table area and got a good spot where I could hit him twice when he popped out. It really wasn't bad. :|
