If you lose a fight something like 4-7 times in a row the option to drop difficulty appears usually. Someone should have warned you, the boss fights in yakuza on any difficulty can be pretty fucking brutal

I think if you die enough it'll ask you to turn down the difficulty.

I could be thinking of something else though.

Thanks heavyd! I'll just keep trying and work on my evading and blocking until I finally get it right and take down this SOB.

Yeah, I am really excited for Arcana Heart 3.
I liked reach a lot too. It's the only Halo campaign I've ever actually enjoyed. The other 3 were pretty boring honestly.

I've never been too into the online though.
Can't believe theres so many halo haters. The campaign is easily better than the current standard call of duty-ified SP that a majority of FPS's are following.

And the multiplayer has my favorite implementation of playlists and matchmaking.

Dude, I'm so fucking tired. I haven't been able to sleep all night.

I'm now on Act 4 on BulletStorm, though, I'm beginning to think the game might be short.

Why start on hard anyway? Were you trophy-whoring? :p
I've never played Yakuza games, but what Heavy D says makes sense. A lot of Japanese action type games lock the harder difficulties and have some sort of "you're dying a lot, would you like to drop the difficulty?" mechanic.

Can't speak for Reach or ODST but Halo 3 might've been the worst FPS SP campaign I've played this generation. I do not like the gameplay, I do not like the story, I do not like the graphics, etc. I tried playing deathmatch after going through the campaign on heroic solo and I couldn't get out of basic training. There was some dude in there that was pissing me off so much since he knew the map and would just camp around all the shield powerups and such. When I ran into him, I just got slaughtered based on powerups. I'll take a Call of Duty game for both SP and MP over a Halo game any day. Even a Treyarch one like W@W.

It's an FPS. Of course it's short. It's like 6-8 hours long, I think.
7 acts. You still got a bit to go... you're probably at or around 50%.

Just because the single player is better than what's arguably one of the worst game series ever doesn't mean it's good.

Because Halo does suck ^_^

Wow. Captivate news rolling out. Here's a great one:

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/12/dead-rising-2-off-the-record-puts-frank-west-in-chuck-greenes/

Yes, let's remake DR2 with Frank West and charge full price for it! :whee:

SSF4AE is both Disc and DLC based and is coming to PC: http://www.gamesradar.com/xbox360/s...a-20110411184651839015/g-20110411181432702077

More interestingly, here's how the differences in matchmaking online will be handled:

As AE is merely an add-on to Super SFIV, all players can compete in the same matchmaking arenas. If you only have SSFIV, for example, you’ll still be able to engage in fights with those who bought AE; in those instances, SSFIV rules and balances take precedence. And if you didn’t buy SSFIV at all? Arcade Edition will also appear as a physical disc in crusty old caveman stores, containing SSFIV and AE in one package. All of these versions talk to each other online, so no matter which version you choose, you’ll end up in the same pool.

Could be cool... not feeling the Tekken cast choices so far though. I'd like to see Juri and Cammy make it over from SF and to keep my interest in the game, definitely need Hworang, Brian, and Jin.

That SF4 AE matchmaking sound annoying as hell, like I guess it will alert you of which version you're going to play... but I can just imagine being like, hey I want to play some AE going to go into matchmaking, damnit I keep having to play Super because it's matching me with players that only have Super.

Well fuck, that DR2 news sure makes me want to get rid of my regular DR2 copy. I'd much rather have a game with Frank.

Oh, also I just finished the Writer for Alan Wake, it was great. Really set the scene for the second game well. I also played some Deluge in Crackdown 2 today, it was surprisingly more fun than the actual game.

I just hope for Alan Wake 2 (if there is one) they don't try to "stream line" it, and by that I mean completely fuck it over by making it more action-y then it already was. I still haven't played the Writer, but I did beat the Signal. Good stuff.

I posted that for you buddy. I knew if anyone in the GGT would rebuy DR2 with Frank over Chuck for another $40+, it'd be you. :)

I'd assume that if you say "I want to play AE", you'll only be matched against people playing AE... but if you don't want to play, say, AE Guile, you can say "Play Super"?

Either way, for $15 DLC, I'm happy enough. Much better than having to buy the damn game a second time.

I think I'll try Reach after lunch -- how unforgiving is Legendary?

I agree with you though, I hope they don't put too much action in it to try to make it more appealing to a wider audience.

Alone or co-op? Co-Op Legendary is a complete breeze, single Legendary can have some spikes in difficulty, and some levels are just completely like "fuck YOU!". The one I had the most trouble with is the mission on the Covenant Corvette. I died like a million times.

Also, there's a glitch where the game will erase all your single player campaign progress, so watch out. It's happened to me twice, each time when I'm on the verge of beating Legendary alone.

I actually bought The Writer the week it came out, because I thought I would play it right away, but haven't played it because it was the last 360 game I played before family borrowed my system and I haven't had a chance to hook it back up. (been beating backlog)

I hope those rumors are true. The game is just amazing and I love it, sucks it got such low sales. I wasn't helping either since I waited for the CE to drop to $40 on Amazon.

Well, this is from the same company who still doesn't allow you to watch matches in a MvC3 lobby... so my confidence in them handling this intelligently is low. $15 isn't bad though.
I thought Reach was exciting, but then again I love Halo.
Yeah, I really liked Reach. Definitely my favorite of the Halo games. Campaign was great with a lot of good firefights. Online had a ton of modes. Replay value was good from the daily challenges given you new things to waste time on each day to get extra experience points etc.
I don't know why, but when people do this it annoys the shit out of me. It's hella douchey.
Agreed. I don't get why people have to go around being all condescending about games others like etc. Especially Rei with all the shit he's gotten in the GGT over the years for his tastes in hentai etc.

I couldn't give a rats ass about the fighters, schmups, action games and random Japanese games that mostly get discussed in here. But I don't go around knocking them and just stop by to discuss games I am playing or interested in etc.

Play and discuss what you enjoy, and let others do the same IMO.

Agreed. I really liked Alan Wake, but the combat was the weak part. It was all about story and atmosphere, and I hope they keep that focus and don't get all combat heavy like they did in the Signal DLC. The Writer was a lot better IMO, so definitely play that one.

As for gaming, all I played last night was a bit of X-men Arcade with some CAGs to knock out the couple of achievements for playing with a full 6 person party.
Agreed. I don't get why people have to go around being all condescending about games others like etc. Especially Rei with all the shit he's gotten in the GGT over the years for his tastes in hentai etc.
Because it's fun. All I did was jokingly say "I'm sorry." I'm sure Joel didn't care that much. So the "Internet White Knights" can get off my ass now. I'm still going to be a douche so you're not making the internet better one jerk at a time. As for people giving me shit, I don't really care unless it's personal. So you're allowed to make fun of my taste in things all you want.

Anyway, really torn on whether or not I should get MK. Depends on if it has a meaty single player. My friends don't care for MK much, so I'd be sticking to online and single player.
The question is, when does Apple take over gaming on TV?

Apple TV with iPhone/iPod/iPad as the controller?
I honestly hope Apple never enters the "serious" gaming market.

Their computers are over priced, and so is the iPad. While I don't think game quality will fall, unless they make a underpowered system like the Wii next gen, we don't need another Wii-like system with mountains of shovelware.

So It seems that the writer is a better add on than the signal? I didn't particularly care for the signal, but maybe I'll give the writer a chance.
I did make a female character, so she could be a futanari if I imagine really hard!
I made a female Spartan for Reach too, mine had pink and white armor, looked bad ass. :D

I'm fairly sure I put my Shepard in a similar outfit for ME2 (cause I really like those colors)... I really need to get back to that game.

Hold on there, partner.

I'd say the iPad is pretty reasonable compared to other tablets on the market. It's not like in the computer world where you can get something more powerful than an apple computer for a cheaper price.

As for the gaming market, didn't they just acquire two top PR people? And iOS game sales are through the roof. I feel like they'd be stupid NOT to enter the next level.

Frosty, if you wanna co-op Reach, LMK.

I've had it since launch, but got bored of the campaign after like 45 minutes, and I liked all previous Halo SP campaigns.

Is there any difference between choosing male or female in Reach? I'm starting to like playing games as badass chicks more for some reason... I'm almost sad I didn't go with Lilith as my character in Borderlands. I totally rock a femshep in ME2 now. Very strange for me... but yeah, Reach: what difference does gender make?

On a side note, am I the only one that thinks Dragon's Dogma looks like ass in it's reveal trailer?

No, it's purely cosmetic. I know I make whoever I play with play the chick and run out in front of me though, so I can stare at dat ass.

The question is, manthingus, blue tooth controller add on or touch controls?

I say both...I can deal with touch controls when I'm looking at an iDevice, but when staring at the tv? I'd imagine it's pretty tough. If I had the extra cash, I'd check out the HDMI out dongle and see how it is.

Sure, I'll co-op reach with you sometime Manthing. Sounds like a plan. :)

It's a shame, I tried to get my Borderlands buddy to sign up for the dashboard beta to get a copy of Reach so we could coop it together and he dropped the ball and didn't sign up. :(

Alright, you were right on price point for iPad, it is at a good price, but judging by features the Motorola Xoom is better. (I don't own either, but I've looked at features since I was interested at one point, before deciding I don't need a tablet)

iOS games aren't "full" games with stories and big production values, and the only reason iOS game sales are through the roof is because most iOS games are just "casual" games that you can pick up and play then put down again when you have to go. I'm not saying those games are "garbage", since I've seen some cool indie stuff for iPods, but most of it is and I doubt Apple could make a full console based solely on these "flash" games. I know they'd get support for full games from big developers, but for the most part it'd be Wii2, but with worst sales since they don't have a gimmick to hold on to besides the mentioned iPod touch controller.

I also don't think Apple is willing to take a loss on hardware for software sales early in the systems life, which is something MS had to do with the original Xbox when it entered the console race. MS, IIRC, ended the Xbox life in the red and didn't recoup losses until sometime during the 360 era. Sony was losing money to, but it had name recognition to stand on and the original BC of the Ps3 and it's a blu-ray player. MS had the best online experience. Nintendo had waggle.

What will Apple bring?

Edit: Missed some post because I was working so I left between some parts of typing my post.

Agreed. The iPad and iPhone are pretty reasonably priced compared to their competition. iPods are overpriced and their computers as well. But with tablets and smart phones they're competitively priced and that's a big part of why they're selling so well.

Who's going to go buy a Motorola Xoom when it's priced the same as the iPad, isn't as well designed (thicker and heavier) and has fewer apps available?

And I say that as a PC user who largely dislikes Apple. Though I do own an iPad 2 (for the reason above--its the best tablet on the market currently and is priced competitively) and an iPod nano.

Is weight really that big of a deal? And the fewer apps thing is kinda null, since Apple requires you buy games from the App store while the Xoom doesn't restrict you to just 1 store.

(but like I said earlier, not a Xoom fanboy/Apple hater, just did some research on the stuff when I wanted a tablet)

I lost my phone and have to get a replacement, too bad Verizon has the ugliest selection as always :oldman:. I liked my old Chocolate from like 5 years ago but apparently we're going back in time where everything looks like shit.

Is it so much to ask for?

Weight is pretty important (at least to me) for a portable device. And the App thing isn't null because it doesn't matter how many stores you can buy from as long as the one store has a great selection and pricing.

Weight is definitely a factor when it comes to a tablet. So is battery life, and Apple has a lock on that.

The fewer apps thing is definitely not a null point either.

As for bringing something to the TV, does Apple have to do something radically different? I feel like saying, "APPS ON TV!" will make people go ga-ga enough. Price at a very low price (like the 99.99 Apple TV) and people will eat it up. Words with Friends, Angry Birds, Tiny Wings...these are the games the casual market wants.
I don't want to think about seanr's dark portent.
Meh, it's not going to cut into big budget games. It's not like they don't sell a ton.

Like I said, the only company that has to fear Apple is Nintendo.
Weight is pretty important (at least to me) for a portable device. And the App thing isn't null because it doesn't matter how many stores you can buy from as long as the one store has a great selection and pricing.
But the weight difference between the Xoom and Ipad is so small I don't know if it would really be noticeable.

Yeah, thiness and weight are huge as it affects how comfortable it is to hold for a long period of time. The iPad is already still a bit too heavy for holding and reading for hours etc. And I mainly use it as a reading device for pdfs of research articles for work and news papers etc. E-books I still read on my Kindle 3 as I prefer the e-ink screen for reading straight text and it's much lighter and easier to hold.

And I agree with ihadFG. While I don't like Apple's walled garden approach, they still have the most apps available and that's more important than having more stores to choose from.

I will probably switch away from the iPad at some point though as I eventually want something that's a bit closer to a PC and has a tablet version of MS Office (the iPad options suck and screw up formatting when going back and forth to the PC), usb drive support etc. Hopefully MS gets the tablet OS they're supposedly working on right.

So I'm not an iPad fanboy, and again I honestly dislike Apple and feel a bit "dirty" buyign an iPad. But I wanted a tablet and it's by far the best on the market right now. And I do enjoy it. Just wish it was a bit more full featured so I could do a bit more work-related stuff on it than I can currently.
