Truth.

We're in the midst of what is shaping up to be an amazing schedule of holiday releases and these $$$s are playing with plastic dragons. Thank you for ruining my lifelong hobby you pieces of shit.

Well too be fair most of them are buying it for their kids.
The Run demo is pretty good.

It feels like EA made a game about my everyday life.
The Run makes me sad... it's Black Box's sad story of their soul being taken from them :(
Well too be fair most of them are buying it for their kids.
And even if they are buying it for themselves, I don't see how this ruins gaming for anyone else.

Because sales not only makes it possible for dumb shit like that to exist -- it ensures that we'll see more of it. And if there's a lot of sales potential in it, it could steal company resources away from real games.

Don't you think that's blowing things out of proportion? There's already way more good core games this fall than I have the time to play. I don't think we have to worry about a game marketed towards kids leading to the downfall of hardcore games. And if we do, then people can complain. Until then, let people enjoy whatever they enjoy.

Or force other games to start integrating this stuff. Imagine ME4 with Kinect AND collectible toys that you need to buy to actually play the whole game (oh and you have to buy both the ME4 XBOX and ME4 PS3 to get all the figures).

I find it hard to believe anything like that would happen, seeing as even the most successful peripheral based stuff has never done that before. Just look at Guitar Hero. It had it's major success, and a few games copied it, but it didn't really change gaming. It was just it's own thing that lasted in popularity for a short while.

Wii, Kinect, PS3 Move...

You like Tim Schaefer's bullshit.

He made Psychonauts

Now he's making Sesame Street.

And today he announced some Kinect mini game suite.

Gotta make dat money money.

I've said to before and I'll say it again. Videogames are going the way of music and movies. As in, the majority suck ass and/or aren't made for me.

I just play what appeals to me. Simple, really.
Wii, Kinect, PS3 Move...
Wii was an entire console, and yet it still hasn't killed off gaming by any means. People are already pretty much over it.

Kinect and Move haven't done anything. Or at the very least, they haven't changed core games.

Double Fine has also made Costume Quest and Stacking in the past year, both of which I loved. One or two kinect games are hardly something to worry about, especially if they help fund future stuff from a developer I like.

Exactly. The industry is growing, and proportionally, there may be less stuff for us, but proportions don't matter for something like that. There's still plenty of stuff that is made for us coming out every year. Just because it's considered more niche now doesn't mean it isn't there. It's just not the only thing there anymore.

Coulda been two more POS games from Double Fine if they didn't get into the dumb shit for kids craze.

But we're missing the point: the Spyro thing is fucking retarded and not respectable. I am merely calling their interests stupid.

Amen. It's just another form of entertainment. It's not the secret club that only welcomes hardcore gamers anymore.

Shit, look at PopCap and Zynga and Gameloft. PopCap actually makes decent games IMO, rest all suck ass. But they are making money.

And bitches love Bejeweled.

Hell, I'm dead serious in saying I'd own a Kinect if I threw parties. Mainly so I can watch chicks dance to Just Dance 3 and shit.

2 games from them for me in the span of less than a year is already more than good enough (and more than we've gotten in the past). Gamers shouldn't feel so entitled to the entire industry's resources. There's other kinds of people out there too (such as kids) who deserve to have fun as well. Plus Double Fine's gotta make money to stay in business.

I mean, it's like any other collectible type thing. They're gonna blow a ton of money on it, but hey, doesn't bother me. At least there's a neat game to go along with it instead of just collecting cards I guess.
I'm investing like $10k in Zynga when their IPO finally happens.

Doesn't mean I don't hate them. :bouncy:
Shit, just have your parents buy Zynga.

I think it's good to develop good taste, and not just a taste for shit and jizz.

Kids gotta learn.

I never said it killed it off, my personal point is merely that the Wii changed things. Doesn't take much to see it either when Microsoft spent well over half of this years E3 just talking about Kinect, and who pays attention to E3 the most (or mainly at all) the "hardcore" gamers.

My point is that it carved a new market, but the old one is still there. We're still getting our core games as well, even in a post-Wii world.

Except they are also trying to shoe horn stuff into those core games (see ME3 or Ghost Recon), to be fair you don't have to use it, but some developer on the team is wasting their time putting this stuff in.

I hope some day you end up being that developer.

I get to deal with these types of fun features that Apple adds to their phones, see AirPlay.

As long as it's optional, it doesn't bother me in the least. The game is still perfectly intact and unchanged from my perspective.

Tell 'em to go play Mario or something that's actually good not just for a kids game, but just as a... game.

Anyway, I was busy as hell today. But I'm finally done now! Time to unwind with Kraken and hope that nobody inadvertently tries to make love to my pussy.
Like multiplayer in ME3.
The thing I don't get about that is, who really wants multiplayer in ME3? It seems like something most people will just ignore. Unless of course they do something cool and different, like the Assassin's Creed multiplayer.

Those are the kind of games that happen when a good developer makes a kid's game. (same goes for movies or tv)

Mario is not a kids game.

It is a game.

A man could play Mario.

A man could not play Sesame Street from Double Shit. Because that would make him a twat.

Are you a twat, Josh?

Do you want to be a twat?

Where's Stalker Chick?

yeah i wouldn't buy my kid shovelware just because it's for kids. there are great games for all ages and developers shouldnt produce garbage just because the demographic enjoys everything put in front of them

I'd make my kid play Bulletstorm.

Then when he kicks a bully's ass and tells him he'll cut off his dick and step on it, I'll be proud when I go to the principal's office to defend him.

I really don't understand the mentality of "oh, you're a kid, play this shitty kids game." If you want your kid to be cultured - and this goes for movies and shit, too - let them play/watch something that's legitimate, yet age-appropriate.

Well Sesame Street is more of an educational thing, plus it's good for kids that are still too young even for Mario. Games like that still deserve to have their place. Plus I do think that a man could play Sesame Street if he's not insecure.

Consider me a Twat... I really want to play the Sesame Street game pretty damn bad after watching the Quick Look on Giant Bomb. That, Double Fine's Kinect Party Game, and Dance Central 2 make me want a Kinect.

What's good for kids too young for Mario isn't video games, it's learning their goddamn motor skills.

Seriously, if you're too young to play Mario, you're too young to comprehend pretty much anything. I was playing that shit when I was 3 and I'm retarded.

Just to note, I'm also against crappy kids stuff that thinks that kids won't know or care. However, stuff like Sesame Street seems to be high quality kids entertainment.

Sure you can play Mario at 3, but it would probably be pretty hard, and you wouldn't even come close to beating it. Something like Sesame Street is intended to be more accessible for kids that age.
