I haven't been playing MW2 lately, so the only time I actually play *online* is SSF4. 3D Dot Game Heroes and Demon's Souls? Offline is fine. :)

(Yes, Cheska, I still play SSF4... :p)

Started Mass Effect 2 and Im really enjoying it more than I enjoyed Dragon Age, but at this point Im pretty much enjoying every WRPG's BUT DA lol. Any ideas on how long the main storyline lasts?

Forsty, next time were both online playing we gotta play together :D

I'd say ME2 is around 20 hours if you mainly focus on the main story quests.

I spent over 40 on my first play through, but I did everything and wasted several hours doing too much of the planet scanning for minerals (had like 400,000+ left over of four of them and 50,000 plus of element zero).

Second playthrough I spent around 25 hours--still did everything, but a lot less planet scanning, skipped a ton of dialogue that I listened to the first time etc.

The main story is pretty short -- especially, if, for some reason, you decide NOT to recruit everybody. There's something like a total of 5 story missions. :|
Finally got the Beat the Team and Beat the Team 2 trophies in Split/Second. The amount of precision needed to beat the time on those courses was crazy.

My brother keeps bugging me about playing Monster Hunter Tri , but I keep avoiding it cause I know the game will be a big time sink and I'm trying to catch up/keep up on the games that I've recently gotten. Especially because I've actually been doing halfway decent at doing that. Beat Alan Wake , Split/Second , Heavy Rain , Dante's Inferno and am making some decent progress in Darksiders , all withing the last 2-3 weeks.
What did you think of Dante's Inferno?

True, I was factoring in doing all the recruitment and loyalty missions as main story.

You really miss a lot if you don't do all of those IMO as that's the bulk of the story in the game.

You don't miss so much by skipping the anomaly missions you find from scanning planets etc.--just exp and minerals etc. I loved doing them, but if one's not a huge fan of the series, I don't think they'd really miss much by not doing them.

But they'd miss a ton by not recruiting all the characters and doing all their loyalty missions as those are the best part of the game.

Definitely. I think that those missions should be the bare minimum that anyone should do when playing the game. Mass Effect 2 is mainly about acquiring and preparing a crew for the final mission, so not doing those missions can drastically change the ending. To simply advance the story, it is required to do a decent amount of recruitment and loyalty missions, but not all of them are required.

While the loyalty stories and recruitment quests are the majority of the game, they really have little to no effect on the main story, other than the ending. That was my problem with the game -- it's solid, but looking back on it after 2 playthroughs (1000/1000 too), I feel the story sucked an assload of donkey cock. I still maintain that the entirety of the 5 main story missions felt less like the "Empire Strikes Back" episode of the series and more like the "Hey, it's a generic episode of the Space/Sci-Fi Saturday morning cartoon show". :(

I thought Dante's Inferno was solid -- the new game+ mode was kind of cool -- but after you hit greed, the game starts to go downhill -- the last two circles really were lacking, especially the stupid "9 trials" or whatever... and the final boss? If you noticed it, you couldn't un-see it, and that was just unnecessary. Also, the cross mechanic was too prone to spam-abuse and the "gates of hell" mode was absolutely worthless (also 1000/1000).

It really skews up the character backstories though. I dunno how I feel about that. I actually kind of enjoyed the original film just because it was entertaining. Not sure if making things all gritty and "realistic" means it'll be enjoyable. The gist of the story does sound interesting on paper at least...
What did you think of Dante's Inferno?
I thought it was alright , but felt like lots of missed opportunities and/or wasted potential. The game was pretty short and pretty easy (granted I did play the game on easy on my first playthrough and normal on my second) but fun and never really felt like it ever dragged cept maybe in Greed and Fraud.

Not enough different enemies (basically 5 guys reskinned through the game , and 1 enemy that you only fight like 6 of the entire game) a variety of different fighting moves that most of which you never really needed. The cross once leveled up becomes incredibly cheap and broken. Most of the magics are cool but not really needed or completely useless (martyrdom). And the unholy/holy leveling system didn't seem like it was really thought out completely as the only thing it effects is moves you can learn and the strength of the scythe/cross. No effect on story or dialog with the few other characters in the game.

Some of these problems may be less noticeable in hard or hardest difficulty since you'd probably have to utilize everything at your disposal , but I'm not really interested in giving it another playthrough right now , maybe closer to the release of the inevitable sequel. I'd say worth a playthrough for GoW gameplay fans , but I'd wait for $30 or less.

Also this song was a highlight of the game for me , oddly enough:

If you don't like it right away , at least skip to around 1:25.

I agree with most of this. I had heard the thing about the last boss , but can't say I saw (or wanted to see) it.
And now that I said that someone will link a picture of it just for me.

I thought some of the specific trails during fraud were kinda fun , such as the infinite magic one , but the one where you had to defend the two humans against the exploding zombies was awful.

Are you kidding? Martyrdom was the most broken shit in the game. All you had to do was spam Martyrdom to clear the screen, collect refill orbs, let your magic recharge, rinse, repeat. Hell, that's how I cleared most of the gates of hell trials.

Heh, I'll keep that in mind for that hard/infernal playthough. I never really gave Martyrdom much of a chance when I used it before. Since I rarely ever took a lot of damage and killed most guys pretty quick , it seemed like the few times I tried using Martyrdom I ended up losing more health/magic than if I hadn't used it in the first place. Divine Armor seemed far more broken , at least in a straight up fight. Divine Armor plus cross spamming = easy win.

I'm kind of with you, but not nearly that harsh. The story wasn't nearly as good as ME1's, but I viewed it as mainly setting the stage for ME3. Rally a team together, learn some more about the Reapers, and now it's all set for the conclusion in ME3.

Plus I though the gameplay was much better than ME1 personally, so overall I loved it and it's easily in my all time top 5 games.

Anyway, I agree with ihadFG's take on below 100%.

I'll be back on the 16th though ... so I'll have a ton of shit to sift through.

Yes. It will still be tied to both the "owning" gamertag and the original console on which it was downloaded.

Hey, what the fuck happened to my 10 dollar gaming credit on amazon? When I go to checkout with a game in my cart it's nowhere to be found.

found a group of people who play street fighter in milwaukee on tuesdays. Was pretty fun. Lost a lot.

Do I keep the big boss pack PSP or the regular green one? I got both. I also got modnation racers with my $25 off coupon.

I'm digging Dragon Age a lot more now that I started a new character. I broke my dual wielding rogue and couldn't even do Normal difficulty.

Now with some foresight and a more powerful class it's a breeze =D

Yeah. Peace Walker is pretty good.

Camo one is matte finish and a lot cooler in my opinion.
Also, each camo PSP is like a snowflake, no two are alike.

glad to see confirmation that Space Invaders Infinity Gene is coming to PS3/360...

was and still is one of my tops for the platform.

also, sounds like in a month or so the game I'm working on may be out, and within a few weeks after that the other projects I'm attached to will probably be out as well.

Same times as last year.

I'm not going to Sonys Conference this year, it's too much of a hassle and it's more relaxing watching it at home with my gf. But, I'm still going to E3! Can't wait to play MVC2, DJHero 2 (yea I know) and ... I dunno what else.
Peace Walker is good but.... I think I might be Metal Gear'd out. Or maybe I'm just not in the mood. It's hard to enjoy the portable controls when you imagine how much better it would be if you could just use a Dual Shock.

A Valve game(Portal 2) delayed? I don't believe it!

When is HL Ep3 coming out again?

The Portal 2 delay proves L4D2 was just a grab for $60 instead of the $10 DLC increments it should have been.

The demo did feel a bit outdated. I mean, it's probably great for a PSP game but that shouldn't be a compliment.

Hey, GGT! Which one of these would be better to get for $7? Super Street Fighter 4, KillZone 2, or Demon'S Souls? I'm interested in all three, but I only have one GS coupon so which one?

Demon's Souls was the best $7 I've spent in recent memory. Almost done with playthrough 2 and will probably go for 3 and 4 -- I can totally see myself platinuming this game.

SSF4 is good too.

Then you have greatly narrowed it down, my friends!

I came very close to picking up KZ2, but I've never played a KZ so I thought it'd be best to ask. I'm probably going to go ahead and bite on Demon's Souls.

KZ2 isn't anything special.

SSF4 and Demon Souls will give you plenty of bang for your buck though.

It really depends on what your in the mood for as all three of those games are completely different. Also keep in mind that SSF4 and DS are both considered pretty difficult by some in the gaming community, so if your not up to be frustrated I'd find something else.

I own all three games and my vote would go towards Super Street Fighter IV. The game is a blast, and it's even funner to play online if you can play with people you know/and/or/people from CAG. There's a fighting game community in the PS3/360 boards you can participate in and play with people from CAG.
