I just got Mass Effect 2 in the mail from amazon. What's the consensus on replaying the original before playing 2? I remember most of what happened, just not a lot of the individual decisions.

I think they do a rundown at the beginning of what you picked in the first game.
 
Mass Effect 1 is good for getting to know the setting, concept and difference between the races. None of the decisions matter. Really.

Mass Effect 2 on the other hand, doesn't really have a story.

Just play ME2.
 
Then you can play Me3 where no characters return and are all replaced with literal pieces of cardboard with "BADASS KROGAN" and "BLUE SEXY ALIEN" and "BORING HUMAN" written on them.
 
Garrus is the only character you can actually get on your team

no one else matters

Wrex is replaced with a stupider krogan
Ashley is replaced by a white girl
Kaidan is replaced by a black guy with no personality
Liara is replaced by a blue bitch
Jack is the worst character ever
 
I picked up LP2 (360), Uncharted 2, and Transformers: WFC (360) all from Gamefly, if anyone wants to play sometime, hit me up. They should be here saturday.
 
Found out why I was banned from PSN... for making a level in LBP with women in lingerie and other proactive pictures. Greaaatt...

A lot of games I'm interested in have come up cheap recently (Alpha Protocol, PoP FS, LP2, Transformers, etc) but I keep telling myself I have NO need for new games, especially when I asked for two lengthy rpgs for Xmas and have MvC3 pre-ordered. I almost ordered War for Cyberton as a gift for my brother tho, but then I didn't.
 
ME2 characters were such ass. I can't remember anyone's name except Garrus and Tali.

Everyone else is a blur. The robot dude, the amazon woman, some frog with cancer, and the krogan -- oh yeah, "Grunt." Shooting stuff was fun though.
 
ME2 killed all the inerest I had in that world because i already know 3 will repeat the same bullshit only worse since
EVERYONE
can die.

Grunt, Thane (badass), Samara, Mordin (funny little ol bitch), Jack, Tali'vas Normandy, Garrus, Jacob (ok he did suck), Miranda (come onnn), Legion (awesome!!), Joker. Sub characters: Zaeed and Kasumi.

While I agree that most of ME2's new characters were dull, I actually really liked Thane for some reason (the "frog with cancer"). And Jack is a really one-sided character unless you do the good romance with her and learn her backstory and all. Mordin was pretty interesting and funny as well. The other characters seemed pretty generic and forgettable to me though. At least Garrus and Tali made a return though, because those two ended being two of my most used party members (along with Thane and sometimes Jack).

Yeah, I know what you mean! I'm having a real hard time holding off on the games. I'm pretty much only buying stuff that I think I'll never be able to get a better deal on.

over the holidays and didn't have internet access, or else I would have emptied my bank account on black friday deals.

Jack was a horrible character, every second she was on screen I wanted to throw my xbox away more than usual.

I have the top level in LBP1, so all those kids get jealous and to bring my level down - they put stickers up of pictures they took with their PSeye's (of provocative women - in mags ect.) and place them in my level. Then they take a picture of that, report it and Sony Japan (they actually do most of the moderation) assumes that is IN my level, so they take down the level (a couple months ago - I got it back) and I now after a few months ban me... bs...

And I only have a few weeks until my school starts (no more game time) and now I can't play brotherhood online. fuckers

I liked all the character intro missions, but beyond that, the character development was a bit too superficial for me.

"Commander Shephard [Character X] would like to speak to you."

meaning:

"Commander Shephard, one of your party members is ready to have his or her character developed"

*go on mission to shoot things*

I talked with Sony PSN account rep's, but he said there's nothing he can do. It's kind of hard explaining it to someone that doesn't know LBP 100%. So they probably think I'm lying.

But I did contact some people I know at Sony and Media molecule. Guy I know at MM said that he's glad he has some proof to show to the Moderation team, because theyve been doing a poor job. Don't think he can get me unbanned though...

It's only like a two week ban, but still a pain in the ass. I just got brotherhood dammit. Damn PS3... at least when I was banned on 360 (billing problems) they fixed it up right away.

I think I would have hated her if I hadn't done the romance with her.

The more I found out about her past, the more I began to feel sorry for her. As the romance progresses, you begin to see through her tough exterior, and start to understand why she acts the way she does. It's actually a lot more complex than just the whole test facility thing. You find out about how she used to be in love with a man, and was ready to spend the rest of her life with him, but in the end he sacrificed his life to save her. After that, she didn't want to be loved again because she didn't want anything bad to happen to the other person. At the final romance scene, she actually comes into your room and starts to cry when you accept her, which shows a vulnerable side that most players wouldn't ever see to such an extent.

I hated her past. She seemed like a dick. Sooooo much of a dick. I did a romance with her too, and immediately dumped her at the end and got with Miranda.

For some reason I just didn't like Miranda. She seemed a bit too cold and boring to me. Not to mention I thought her face looked weird. I did like Tali though.
