have a DS... sort of interested in a PSP, but mostly for Chains of Olympus. :\
Don't. Play the first and second GoW games twice over. CoO is such a huge disappointment. I beat it in 4 hours, first try no guides. If you can get a good price on the PSP, that game and there are other games and things you want to do with the PSP, get one. If you only plan on getting it mostly for CoO, you will be pissed. I promise. 4 hours. Not even 4 hours actually.
I'm surprised you don't like it. Aren't you the same guy that loves Braid? A lot of people feel that Braid is the spiritual 2D portal in a way.

But it's ok, if we all liked the same stuff we couldn't have fun arguing with each other!
yeah, a game can be good but it'll always boil down to if you enjoyed it personally. contrary to internet belief you can't force your enjoyment of a game on others.

and yeah, don't worry, I know ur not here to fight :)
Guessing game? Eh, to each their own.
I think the DOA system is fine, but I really don't like a forced guessing game where your only option to avoid damage is to participate in the guessing game with a super high risk. I just don't like the damage scaling for the throws/reversals. Nor do I like the fact that command throws can't be broken.

To me, the reverals aren't satisfying in DOA, the hi-counter throws are.

hi-counter throw izuna off the top of the stage.

yup yup yup

gigaton

I like DOA. I like how the environments are interactive, and you can keep fighting after you fall off a platform. It doesn't really add much real depth, but it makes things much more exciting than your standard fighter.

It would be amazingly cool if a fighter could take the best of SCIV and DOA. That would be my favorite fighter without a doubt.

I was watching TV one time and they had like this video gaming competition,

and one of the games is Dead or Alive, the player is sum girl playing another girl,

and the coach of the player is a woman too and all she does is scream angrily at the player like "COME ON! COME ON!!"

and I'm like :oldman::oldman::oldman::oldman:

these gaming leagues and shyt suck... not enough Street Fighter and Tetris Attack in them

G4TV had an old show called Arena that actually had real fighting games (this was way back), but only for a few episodes.

My friends ( SD TEKKEN ) and I were on an episode where we beasted on the returning champs in Tekken 4 (but we got raped in Unreal Tournament III and Mechwarrior lol)...

Good times.

I played Rainbow Six Vegas 2 today. It was soooo much fun. I forgot how much I love that game. It also helped I had a partner in crime. Scobie is always a riot to play with.
I can't wait for Mercs 2.
I finally took a look at some footage and it actually looked pretty good though I'm still not sure if I'd drop 60 bones for it.

Wait 2 weeks and it'll be $40. It's like magic.

Ugh. Regardless of the reviews I would still drop $40 on Too Human ($50 at TRU plus the 20% off coupon) but I spent like $50 tonight on food/drink/train/bus/taxi going to the Giants, Browns pre-season game. The reviews and my small/medium sized backlog isn't helping either.

It was awesome, three guys were a row ahead of us and they were very drunk including one guy who was pretty smashed, they looked like normal dudes too not like the other hooligans in full body paint screaming Tony Homo at the one guy in the front row wearing a Tony Romo jersey. Pretty much anyone not wearing a Giants jersey was getting hassled, of my three other friends I was the only one in a jersey, blue Plaxico jersey :). As we walked in about 3 guys were just plain heckling this guy in a Favre Packers jersey. We were 16 rows up from the field so when the Browns were in our endzone and Brady Quinn went in, he was screaming "Kill Quinn", "Q-I-L-L Kill Quinn!", and "Quinn the Queafer!" for a good 5 minutes. It was a more of a you had to be there because the guy was at a point of drunkess where you felt kind of embarassed watching him but everyone in our vicinity were just watching him and laughing.

I was tearing up some Braid before I left. We need more quality original 2D platformers on the XBLA. Cough* Castle Crashers *Cough

Well, I'm neither gun or Kendal but I've done that fight a few times (I quit awhile ago). its pretty simple you have your rotating tanks because the second highest person on the aggro list gets hit with some nutty 10k attack or something, and everyone else just heals or damages the crap out of him. Watch out for the falling ceiling, youll die! Also he does some sorta blowback thingy that does more damage depending on how many people are in a certian distance of you, so you have to keep spread outish (you can run away for a bit after the blowback).

I think towards the end he gets frenzied or something so the tanks likely will die just before he dies, depending on your gear and stuff.

Thats a quick and dirty rundown, and I don't remember too many details since the last time I did that fight was mooooonths ago.

Just got off a long burnout paradise session and it was so so so much fun. Really want to do that some GGT'ers though. (I'm looking at you nelo, daroga, link and gun)
I can't wait for Mercs 2.
What system are you getting it for?

Also the game I'm excited for is Quest for Booty...that's next week right? Any of you guys want to gameshare it?

im not sure when i'll be able play burnout or anything on live since i just moved in my cousins house and i either have to convince them to let me have the modem in my room so i can connect via ethernet or im gonna have to get a wireless adapter and i still have to setup a router...and get my laptop and speakers in lol

not exactly art I like a whole lot but good stuff from I Am 8-Bit:

I've never gotten a toon up to endgame level, let alone done a raid, but that's my understanding--it's just a DPS race with the raid group rotating a team of tanks until the boss is dead. The boss has knockback attacks as well as that cave-in damage, so guys will be running around a lot to damage and avoid taking damage.

As for Mercs 2, I'm going 360. I'll prolly put my GS credits down on a pre-order tomorrow.
I added to my TL. GGT gets a discount. I really can't wait get my hands on the new Ratchet game.
Good price on the sealed Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. Too bad I'm not collecting it though.

I have it on Half for $40 I think. It is the cheapest up there. I am trying to under cut the super greedy and get some new new games. Or anime. Or por...flowers.

it's not the one I was thinking but glad to see a good lightgun game being added to the wii... there needs to be more of those games on the wii IMHO.

Good morning GGT!

Closing in on the end of Xenosaga Ep1. I'll most likely have it finished by the time Disgaea 3 comes out and then move into that. I think I'll work on FFX-2 to clean that from my backlog as well.

I'm on the fence about R&CF:Quest for Booty. I might just hold off on getting it until next month, since September is kinda slow for me, probably being only DQ IV and maybe Silent Hill:Homecoming. Oh, and maybe Black Sigil.

October's gonna be hell on the wallet tho.

Morning GGT,

Grabbed some cheesemints in Bully then played Resi 4 on Wii for a bit.

My Wii is making a loud buzzing sound, which is slightly worrying.

Could this be the end............
October's gonna be hell on the wallet tho.
heh, I agree with you there. There are 4 games that I want that month and 3 are special editions... And Nov isn't going to be much better.

I played some GRID PC earlier and the shit kept crashing after the first race. It's some Nvidia-Vista x64 issue, so I said fuck it, I'll play it some other time. I did get lots of 3rd Strike in and a bit of SoulCalibur IV.

Good night GGT. . .
'splain please:

 • aggro list
 • DPS race
1) the most hated players on a monsters "hit list". i.e. the players that a monster will concentrate on attacking. For example, you and three friends attack a monster. The monster will be most aggressive to the player who is hurting him the most. If the "most hated" player dies or is somehow removed from combat, then the monster will turn it's attention to the next guy and so on.

2) whoever does the most damage in the shortest or set amount of time wins. DPS = damage per second.

Hoo boy, I'm glad I didn't pay money for that pub games. I'm already like 200+ gold in the hole. Apparently, being in debt before starting the game could be "bad", so I dunno if I even wanna play any more. Beyond that, the games themselves are interesting, if not entirely "fun". I guess if you are in to fake gambling, it's pretty cool.

BCR is cool, but hard.

Madden is mostly as I remembered it, except the graphics, player models, and animations are much more awesome. Not sure if I'm as blown away with 09 like I was with the first Sega DC football game from Visual Concepts, at least from a graphics/presentation standpoint, but I think it's at least a little close. I agree with the reviews I read about the new features being unnecessary, and I'm glad they don't detract at all from the overall experience. I doubt I'll buy 2010, though. I'm willing to try a sports game now and again (particularly when I can get the LE cheap hehe), but will never again do the yearly upgrade thing.

Started playing Summon Night: Twin Age last night. Pretty good through the first two chapters, surprisingly tight controls once you get the idea.

*diligently taking notes*

Okay, now what about this thing with some bosses and a ten minute timer thingy?

Is good, botticus? I saw it used at GS yesterday but had forgotten the 25% off coupon so I'm going to go back. If it's there I'm thinking of picking it up.
I don't hate Halflife, but I find it the series as a whole to be extremely overrated. When it's good, it's amazing, but when it's bad it's downright horrible. I swear it has some of the worst pacing known to 3D gaming, and the platforming is awkward at best. It's great when it comes to overall immersion though, but I just feel that the gameplay has a lot of good ideas that aren't well executed.

Portal on the other hand I believe deserved all the hype it got from a gameplay perspective. Completely fresh ideas that are well realized and brilliantly executed. Although I think the story and humor were a bit overrated, but that's not to say that aspect of the game wasn't well done.
To each their own I guess. Seems like in general we have pretty opposing tastes in games.

Portal was fine, and I did enjoy it but just not as much as the hype. But it was more just because I'm not a big fan of puzzle games. I do enough thinking in my work so I'd rather just shoot the fuck out of everything in my games!

Seems like there will be lots of skills and item customization to keep things fresh. And so far the AI hasn't been stupid, which is nice.

Good morning GGT. Planning on picking up FFVII again; I'm right before a boss battle followed by a looooong story sequence, so I'd been putting it off until I was in the mood again. Also, my right hand is killing me, so DMC3 is right out.

I caught up on a lot of Strong Bad emails last night (via the Internet Channel on the Wii... best way to watch 'em). I might've asked this before in an earlier GGT, but has anyone gotten the first episode of the Strong Bad WiiWare game?

Also, my two pennies on Portal: Funny, imaginative, clever, atmospheric game, but yeah, the hype got a little out of control. I think a big part of it's because gamers aren't used to outright humor in FPS-style games, whereas I'd played quite a few other funny games that year before Portal (PWAA: Justice for All, the first two Paper Marios, StarTopia), and like humor in games in general. As a puzzler, it was very good, though.

Speaking of puzzle games, there was a post on DS Fanboy yesterday about Planet Puzzle League, and commenters started posting their scores. I'm "Reeve" in the comments - my Endless score is pitiful (I think that's because I tend to give up after so long), but my others are among the highest in the thread so far. That made me feel good :)

I like good AI. *mutters something about koei and warriors* I've got the Swordcraft games, but haven't opened them yet. =X

Yeah, it's slightly bigger than it should be. But when there's a valve label on something, I'm happy when its well recieved and gains some popuplarity with the casual gamer market. I've always found their games and stories to be intelligent and at times provoking. Seeing something of that calibre appreciated by more than the elitists makes me feel there's hope for mankind in general.

I got it. Pretty fun, and was also funny. Will keep you busy for a couple hours.
