Are the betas shareable? Money could be made with one.
Doesn't seem to be tied to your PSN Account. I downloaded it using my european account then played it on my US one. Was able to upload my rankings and everything. So at least it doesn't have the same 'issue' the Home Beta does.

Cool, my copy of DQIV and Wario Shake It arrived. Can't wait to try them out tonight, although mebbe I'll only have time to play Wario.

If I manage to get into this and it's shareable who wants a download?

I'm trying to figure out if I want to order KoF 11 or SFA. I'm leaning towards KOF because it's cheaper.

Ordered Yakuza and KoF from gamestop. I figure 27 for the both of them with 2 day shipping wasn't bad. Hope they get here by friday.

Is anybody totally excited for Pokemon Platinum to hit the US? I can't wait, this game just looks sick. That's why I imported it :p
By request, the beta's basically a gigantic tutorial that tells you the ins and outs. There's 3 levels to play on, online play, creation mode, customizations, etc. Basically it gives you a little taste of everything that will be available in the full game. There's already some user created levels up to play on but, unsurprisingly, they're all crap thus far. Hope they gave it some more polish though because there was a lot of clipping and getting stuck in or under objects in just the first level. It was fun to play ... for the first level. I already lost interest and will probably pass on it until it's cheaper. If it had a lot more polish, I'd probably of been more into it but getting stuck in or under objects several times a level was pretty annoying.
I don't know why, but that kind of sounds disappointing to me. I really hope there's a demo on the PSN before the game hits. But is the fun factor there?

Unfortunately, it was pretty disappointing to me. I enjoyed it at first but all the problems just made it seem like an utter mess to me. The foreground/background transitions aren't exactly great either as sometimes it likes to do it randomly for you just to screw you up. There's 3 planes to move across so you can just imagine how troublesome it can be.

I'm really disappointed right now. I had a lot of high hopes for this game. I'm not completely ruling it out, but I'm going to wait on some reviews and a demo or something.

edit: I just dropped my laptop. Everything appears to be fine, but should I be worried at all?

You and me both, if the final game has more polish and fixes most of the stuff I've mentioned, then it's definitely worth picking up. As the beta is right now though, no.

Don't worry about your laptop if it's still working, should be fine.

I'm going to sign up for Gamefly tomorrow night, so I guess I'll throw LBP in my list of rentals.

And my laptop is functioning fine, thankfully.

Good idea, I won't be able to post my comparison to the retail version because I don't think I'll be picking it up now. Not at the $60 price tag anyway.
I had no hopes for LBP. I thought the game looked boring from day 1.
If it weren't for all the issues I described it'd be fun. Just not $60 fun.

Since you're someone who wants the game to be good, you'd probably be more forgiving than me. So I think I'll just keep to the original plan, and not buy it.

Oh, I already know I'm being very forgiving unfortunately.

...

I'm just sayin'.

Hm, not sure what to think of your impressions, distgfx.

The issues you describe are not difficult to fix and can be done with patches/updates.

Also, this beta is for the Euro market. Isn't the game being released later for Eu? I wonder if there's even any difference.

On the other hand, the game supposedly went gold, so having those fundamental problems this late in the production isn't good.

Wish I had beta access so I can experience it for myself. :p

Yes, it's the europe beta and europe only gets it 3 days later. As you said, LBP already went gold too, hence my disappointment. If they were still working on it, I could probably brush it off.
*Throws large rock*
Does the same. It's my most wanted game by far. A few of my friends played it at PlayStation events and really loved it. I trust their impressions anyway. ;)

Rei rather buy terrible Koei stuff anyway. :p

If people remember, many betas/demos that have gone out were old versions, because it takes a very long time to put them together (like the Uncharted demo we got last year just before release, was an old build from a few months ago). Putting together a beta/demo is like putting something together several months ago, before some issues might have been solved. You can't exactly just chop up a game at the end of release and say here's a beta/demo. The only way a demo usually represents the final version is when it's made AFTER a game is complete. Like the MotorStorm demo on PSN doesn't look anywhere near as good as the final version and even plays a bit better too.

Don't rent LBP, buy it. Support good games.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to play some Warhawk tonight.

Also, I've been sleeping on my new futon for like 4 days(time since purchase) and my back is starting to kill me. I think I'm going to sleep on my shitty dorm bed tonight :(

Street Fighter TV? Which channel is that?
Is Street Fighter Alpha 3 on PS1 solid? It's the only SF that is available right this second on goozex.
No.

It was cool in 99 coz it was like the closest the PS1 got to not sucking at 2D with Capcom fighters, but when there's the PS2 anthology? Hell fucking no - don't bother with that shitty version.

TMK shouldn't be trusted on LBP on the basis that he like Star Ocean 3 and he cries.

I love Koei, but I only play their good games. Hence why you don't see me owning a copy of Opoona.
No.

I say yes. I love SFA3.

Honestly, I prefer the PS1 or DC version over the Anthology. Mostly because of the World Tour mode.

Star Ocean 3 rocks. I want SO4 more than any 360 game and basically more than any PS3 game that's not FF Versus XIII.
You don't like it because it's on :wii: :p
Granted that is a bad mark against it, at the same time I wouldn't not buy it just because it's on the Wii. If that were the case I woudn't love NMH so much.

Thanks for saving me 200 points then.

Someone needs to put a fucking copy of Guilty Gear up.

SFA Anthlogy is probably the best $30 I've ever spent. It's really all I play in terms of fighters.

After reading through most of the detailed impressions of LBP on GAF, it does seem like there are some minor issues: controling the avatar within 3D space appears to be tricky and will take some getting used to. Graphics were good overall, but perhaps not as good as some were hoping. The meat of the game really does seem to be the creation mode, and as such the game may end up having only have limited appeal.

Still, the general impression overall is positive and most people are really digging what they can play/do in the beta. I haven't seen any detailed summary from people who really didn't enjoy the game, except for distgfx.

the beta won't give a good impression since it leaves out a huge chunk of the single player aspects.

been busy all day and missed alot of GGT due to animating a short video of a hamster shaking its ass... I'll post it on here when it's finished... nothing great.

I'll second that.

Like what?

Chun-Li cover makes sense since it'll sell alongside the Chun-Li movie... Capcom isn't stupid.

My beta impressions of LBP are a guess, but I doubt it includes the "story" levels that are in the retail version.

Man, played some FEAR randomly and yeah, this is still easily my favorite FPS ever. I haven't played Crysis Warhead yet, but topping this game is gonna be a tall order. Fact: A shooter is better when it's actually fun to shoot people.

I'm playing some SC4 to unwind. Figure I'll play around with some different characters and see if I can find someone knew to learn some combos with.

One of the GAF posts did mention that the third (last) level in the beta is where the game really started to pick up steam. I guess you could infer that the game is only as good as the level you play (as obvious as that might sound).

It's hard to gauge an entire game from a few of it's parts. At least for me, the Mercs 2 demo was not representative of the whole game (fun in the demo, but not as much fun in the full version), as the ToV demo didn't really show how good the full game really is.

Man, I just popped in Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders today for a bit. I can't believe how fun that game still is, and the music and characters kick ass too!

I love that game so much.

I didn't play any of the first FEAR (though my dad played it as well as all the expansions) but everything looked great in it except for the bland look of it.

FEAR:pO looks like hotness like crazy. It's one of the few FPSs on my radar.

So I've been thinking about buying a PS2. I haven't owned my own in years (had one, sold it, had my dad's (yeah, really) for a while, gave that back, and then my brother got one not long after that, but I can only ever play whatever he buys for it, which is like Generic Sports ATV Smackdown Casual Cock, and pretty soon I'm not going to be living here anyway, and I've got the cash, I think, and there's such a huge fucking library of games I haven't played.

Hello, Yakuza.

EDIT: Hey, I thought the PS2 recently dropped again? I didn't think it was still 130.

What games are musts that can be had on the cheap? Besides Yakuza?

Nice! I got a free new copy of Windows Vista Ultimate complete in the mail today I never thought I'd get. Going on Ebay sometime this week :) Winning money will either be used for a G1 android phone or Rock Band 2 Special Edition on PS3... can't decide.

There's so many must haves that aren't that expensive. I don't even know where to start. The Playstation 2 is the best system of all time.

Also, the Dragon Quest VIII orchestral soundtrack is so fucking good. I forgot how good it was, coz I played the game with TV speakers, and that was like 3 years ago. I need to pick the CD up.
Wait until the holiday--there'll be bundles, discounts, and shit.
But waiting is soo haaard.

I probably will, though. Right now I just want to figure out what I want to buy. Budgeting money and all that, especially considering, yeah, it IS the holidays.

There's another one I have to finish. i think it's more fun to kill people in crysis, though FEAR has the best feel of any fps. even with a mouse, the gun just responds right and you can always tell when a guy is getting the shit shot out of him. It's not like this Havoc shit where everything is lighter than air.

but setting traps for squads of dudes is awesome. they're pretty smart too. just very easy to kill. I'm guessing the aliens will be more of a challenge.

Well, let's start with this - Like RPGs? Get Shin Megami Tensei: Whatever You Can Get Your Hands On Other Than Devil Summoner Because That Game Is a Piece of Shit. Kind of a lengthy title.
