I would love to see anything od FFVI.

I think the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII has few more years left in it. We may see a remake in its final year.

the addition of the bag to DQ4 was a nice touch, but you can cheat a little with it =)

remember in chapter 5, when torneko joins you, you get all the stuff that was in his bag. so theoretically you could get like 80 broadswords and then when you get him, you can sell it all...

here's another minor change:
-hoffman leaves when you enter mintos. in the NES version he doesn't leave until after you get the cure for kiryl.

it's also hard to get used to the new names for everything, new towns and items and spells. for the longest time i didn't know squelch cured poison, i was waiting for antidote. =)

So after playing a little more Blue Dragon I really dont think its that bad. Its not a good game....but its not bad. The charcters are kinda dorky and the story a bit much......but the game play is really solid. I especially love the skill/level system, a few more classes would have been nice but still its a solid B.

I really liked Blue Dragon. It was a solid RPG. Got Yggdra Union this morning and I'm going to start if after I finish up Riviera, since it's chapter 2 in that series. Knights in the Nightmare comes out tomorrow in japan!
7th Dragon (Sega/DS)
Infinite Space (Sega/DS)
DunDam: Dungeons and Dams (Acquire/DS)
Ragnarok Online DS (GungHo/DS)
Inazuma Eleven 2 (Level-5/DS)
Ushiro (Level-5/PSP)
Cardboard Senki (Level-5/PSP)
Arc Rise Fantasia (Marvelous/Wii)
http://swordmachine.blogspot.com/ has some info in English.

I bet over 50% of that list is going to be a big pile of turd.

America have over saturation of FPS or third person shooters. While Japanese have their rpgs.

actually those games are from respected developers. Level 5 been solid with every game they made. 7th Dragon is from the maker of etrain odyssey and Arc Rise Fantasia is made by the same people that made Image Epoch

And why does Microsoft say they have the best RPG's again? Especially when the DS comes out with 5 great RPG's every 10 seconds compared to the 360.

The DS isnt their direct competitor, since they dont have a presence in the handheld space. Sure, they are competing for the same gamer dollars, but the main thing is versus the PS3.

Hell, they've got Blue Dragon+ and Viva Pinata on the DS. If you cant beat em...
And why does Microsoft say they have the best RPG's again? Especially when the DS comes out with 5 great RPG's every 10 seconds compared to the 360.
Because most people dont look at the consoles and hand helds as competing with eachother. MS does have the best and most RPGs just on consoles. The DS is also sadly starting to lag, its just not coming out with as many and most that are released are average games like EO and Izuna not quality titles.

Why did it take FFTA2s story 28 hours to become interesting? I have a feeling its almost over too :whistle2:( There is only 1 line left in the grimoir.

5 great RPGs every 10 seconds? I've played like 2 in total over the span of the DS's entire lifetime. Your standards much be a lot lower than mine.

You need to play more DS games then!
You need to play more DS games then!
Iv got an M3 so I can just download and try every DS game for free.....meaning iv played pretty much every RPG released on the DS. While its a great system and while its received alot of good RPGs it hasnt received enough stand out RPGs.....especially non re releases. I mean ya there are some great ones but there are far more average ones such as Magical Star Sign and EO.

Bragging about piracy, saying that every game you pirated sucked, overusing ellipses and using run-on sentences is grade-A douchebaggery in my book. Welcome to the ignore list.

Calling people out and then ignoring them is some grade school shit. You just got a SS (super smokin'!) grade from the douchebaggery patrol.

Meh ignore it, I dont care. Besides he way overacted saying I pirated every game and say they all sucked. When in reality I liked alot of them and LOVED some of them. Big difference between saying a system lacks top notch titles and that all its games sucked. And I do own about 20 DS games.....so ya I pirate but I buy games that are worth buying too.

Almost done with all the endgame sidequests in FFX-2. Yay, me!

I do like how the dungeon puzzles in the game aren't your typical block-sliding puzzles like the vast majority of other RPGs. There has been a lot of unique diversity which I wish more RPGs would take lessons from. Every time I do a silly block-sliding puzzle in most RPGs, I roll my eyes. Bravo for FFX-2 for having some creativity in this aspect. That math dungeon was just evil tho.

What other RPGs do you all consider to have some really great dungeon puzzles?
Tales of Symphonia had the best puzzley dungeons imo.
I would give ToS runner up to Lufia 2. Lufia 2 had some of the most challanging and cool puzzles in any game. Professor Layton is the only game I can think of with better puzzles.
The good DS RPGs are all remakes.
Not all of them. The World Ends with You and Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time were both non-remakes. While I haven't played them, the Etrian Odyssey have had good things said about them.
Ah but Professor Layton is a puzzle/adventure game is it not?
I wasnt saying PL was the best in the RPG genre. Just saying that Lufia 2 was the best in RPGs and PL in any game.
Ninokuni looks gorgeous
out of the two screens I've seen and all the art so far =O
That's the one game out of all the ones announced in Famitsu that I'm interested in the most.

If you want good rpg puzzles, you should try out Wild Arms. Too bad the combat or storyline got stale with each passing series. Though, the Hex system is nice change of pace for Wild Arm Series.

cochese you killed the RPG Thread, dammit. Shame on you.

Don't know much about Lost Odyssey or Eternal Sonata, so I cannot answer your question.

But speaking of Eternal Sonata, who else is gonna pick it up when it comes out on that triple? I really want to get it, I just hate that they're charging $60 for a game thats been out over a year and sells for half of that on the 360. At least it has some additional content, tho.

I am. I remember reading that if you played in Japanese with English subtitles, there are parts in the ending with no subtitles. I really hope this is fixed in the PS3 version so I don't have to play in English the whole way through.

I can wait for ES to have a few price drops before picking it up. From the few hours I played of the 360 version I can tell it's not worth $60.

The characters speak through the credit roll, and it all isn't subtitled. Kinda pissed me off.

Playing ToV right now. Its much better then ToA. Its going Symphonia a run for its money.

The only thing I can't stand is how all the people are sooo goody goody, and wont do anything wrong.

Personally I like the characters in ToV more then I liked the characters in ToS or ToA.

Its subjective to what your personal tastes are, but I like the battle system more then the previous games.
That's a bold statement; ToA and ToS were fantastic games. Is ToV really better?
I haven't played enough of Abyss to say something about it, but I do feel Vesperia is at the very least up there with them.
Can anyone tell me if either Lost Odyssey or Eternal Sonata has costume changes when different weapons/armor is equipped?
For Lost Odyssey, their are some slight changes in appearance. If I recall, they have some minor changes when your equipping accessories such as Elton John sunglasses.

For Eternal Sonata, I don't recall any changes with different weapons/armor. The Tales series is well known for their individual class titles which grant different looks. But Eternal Sonata doesn't have any class titles.

Not all class titles have an affect on look, only some of them. In Tales of Symphonia, titles have an affect on stats growth when you level up. It was sort of an incentive to look for titles. It good when you start a new game. I think your level will default to zero in a new game plus. For Tales of Abyss, titles grant abilities such as higher hp or discount rates at shops. I don't remember what the titles did in Tales Destiny 2 or Tales of Legendia

I had a flood of games but I'm finally back to ToV. I'm at the final dungeon. I have to agree that I like the characters. Even though he looks like a girl the main (Yuri) is actually a cool character. I expect to beat it Wednesday when I get my 60' DLP. Finally I can play games in true HD :D

Weapons do change in Eternal Sonata.
