God of War: Chains of Olympus Thread - Out Now! - 1up: 9.5, IGN: 9.4, GS: 8.5

I just preordered and got the demo for GOW at Gamestop, it's the "Battle of Attica" Special Edition demo, they also gave me a preorder bonus lol. I'm really enjoying it so far, it's incredible, and the controls just feel right on it.
 
There's a long list of games that I want for the PSP, but I'm going to be sure and get this after watching those videos on the store website. I never played the first two (never owned a PS2), but I've always wanted to play this series. This is looking great. It's hard to believe that this is the only game that looks remotely interesting to be released on the PSP in the next year.
 
I preordered it last night at BestBuy to get the demo, and it was awesome. I've never played God of War before, but I can see why the series has gotten so much praise. I'll definitely pick this one up soon.
 
IGN gave it a 9.4. Sounds like there's a
Raiden in MGS2-esque turn at the beginning of the game. Not necessarily a new character, but a new "tale." I'm intrigued.

Great review. Basically a perfect transition from the PS2 to the PSP. 7 hours long for the reviewer to beat it = 10-12 for me most likely.

I just played through the demo and honestly came away a little unimpressed. Don't get me wrong, the graphics are outstanding but there were spots where lag crept in and the whole idea of "push this button right here!" is a little lame. $40 is too much for this kind of button-mashing stuff.

Never had a chance to play a God of War game, I think I'm gonna pick up Chains of Olympus and then move onto God of War 1 after I finish it.
 
I preordered today at CC with $5 discount off my Gamercard and place $20 down. I'm getting a free Tee-Shirt when I pickup between 03/05 thru 03/18. I love the demo when I signed up last year! I give this 5/5 stars!

I'm getting less sure of buying it if it will only take 7 hours to beat. I might just rent it. Then again, I have tons of extra credit at GameRush, so I'll probably pick it up anyways.

After your first playthrough you can start over but with all your weapons and stats. Well worth it if you ask me. Can't get much more fun from a action/adventure/hack & slash than with GoW.

Yes, I find it very strange that there would be problems in the download demo but not the UMD; you would think it would be the other way around. A pretty bad thing to have in a demo.
 
Apparently something went wrong with the demo on the playstation store.
I haven't heard of any issues with the UMD demo.

It's just a shame that Sony let the demo slip out into the hands of the masses in the state that it is.
 
Just plain red is kinda lame. They should have made a special edition white one with the red stripe tattoo Kratos has on his skin.
 
i just learned that there's a GoW PSP bundle for $200 releasing in June! AWESOME! Can't wait... Not only comes with the GoW game, but also SuperBad the UMD (and a free download, but don't care).

Sweet! Thanks Sony! Day one for me...

the free t-shirt is sweet too... sigh, but i'm gonna go for the red PSP bundle, it was something i really want. Remember while back there was an eBay auction about a custom made GoW PSP (phat)? It went for like $600 bucks and i almost bid on it! Well, now i can get this baby for $200, this should go to the deal forum :bouncy:
 
This bundle alone is having me wait till summer. I was gonna pick up the Daxter bundle next month but...the color is AMAZING on this!

But since Mega Man Powered Up and Mega Man Maverick Hunter X are getting harder to find, I'll just order Powered up from Capcom's store ($20+ $7 shipping) and one of my local gamestops have Maverik Hunter so I'll pcik those both up next month and put them away for the time being (better safe than sorry right?)
