You have an odd sense of entitlement.
Despite what you say, paying for demo access isn't exactly a new concept (I didn't buy Tobal No.1 for its intriguing gameplay mechanics), and I don't know why it should go away just because more efficient content delivery mechanisms exist so long as people are still willing to fork over the money.
And even buying your premise that demos have "never been shit you had to pay for," markets change. It wasn't that long ago when people thought the idea of paying for television was ridiculous.
I still think paying for TV is ridiculous. Comcast has a monopoly on the cable market here and they gouge out the ass, but I'm not the one paying that bill here, so I can't speak about paying or not paying. But there's not much on TV nowadays that I'd really pay to watch. If it were up to me though, that's $60 something a month that could be better spent elsewhere.
Back in the PS1 era Sony sent me so many demo discs it wasn't even funny. I would easily get 2-3 or more of them every month or two. In the PS2 gen that changed, but I had a freebie subscription to the Official Playstation mag(which was nice)so I got most of the important demos free that way. They sent me a trial issue, I checked cancel and sent the card back and they didn't stop sending them for years.
But again, if some are willing to pay for a demo, then so be it. It IS a smart business move, but it will make some PS3 owners(ie those like me)very jaded towards not having access to that demo until AFTER they feel they've sold enough of the GOW collection.
And again, it is theirs to do with as they please, but it just sucks. I'll get over it, but then again I wasn't planning on buying GOW3 on release date anyway. I just wanna see how the game will play versus the prior ones. This just means I gotta wait a lil while longer to do so.
I'm done. If you guys wanna keep going, go ahead. But it's obvious I must be the only gamer whose played the other GOW games who would just like to sample the third game already and not have to pay for the privilege.
