Thanks. And I certainly don't think GH is an evil company, I just think their system leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe its just my bad luck, but the two times I've tried to place an order with them, both my orders were canceled days after I submitted them without any notification. Couple that with the fact that they rarely reply to support emails, and when you finally do get someone on the phone, they don't really offer many helpful suggestions, its just not a pleasant shopping experience.

I tried calling them and waited on hold for 22 minutes before someone picked up, and as suspected, they weren't much help. Just said item is out of stock, and if I want to order it again, I'd have to pay full price then call them for a retroactive refund. No thanks.

I guess I just wish they would allow orders to remain open even if the item is on backorder, instead of canceling them the moment an item goes out-of-stock. That way customers dont miss out on the sale price.

movies and stuff are marking down an extra 20 percent so it's weird how it's not working for games. i have a couple on order (blu rays) so i hope they don't readjust them
Sorry, games are not currently on the 20% promotion.
Sorry, games are not currently on the 20% promotion.
i'm fine with that. it still says so on your splash page on your company's website though like it did last week. that's where i was confused. i just bought four from you. i think i'm good for a bit.

thanks.
just got my copy of AC:B, great condition. Was shocked to find out that the manual is only 1 page, wtf?!
u should be happy to get 1 page. According to the high wisdom of Ubisuck, they decide to remove all paper manual for future games

Reason: they want to save tree.. ya, right!

hey gohastings guy, do you guys use your own site? the home page (the flash one) looks like a placeholder. it says "Welcome Kevin" on the top and I'm not Kevin. I'm not even logged in. There's placeholder text everywhere and the only link that is clickable is "Favorite Store". Not to mention the fact that I can't use your site on my phone since the homepage is flash. How about a skip button or testing for flash, or better yet, eliminating the stupid flash intro. it's nothing but a time waster. Thanks for letting me vent.

All my orders were supposedly "shipped" on 12/14. But they never came. Gohastings CS agents say "the post office lost them". I've never had expedited shipping get lost on me before. Of course even with expedited shipping you cant track them yourself, only gohastings can. Highly suspicious. Never again will I waste time on these clowns.

also, how do you decide what is on sale and what isn't? I bought Oz on dvd for 20% for the first 3 seasons. Seasons 4-6 come up as regular price. This has happened for many tv shows, and the later seasons are selling for the same price as the earlier seasons.

Sorry to hear some of you are having issues. But I was a strictly GameStop guy prior to discovering GoHastings. The sales on their site just can't be beat, and I have always had great and speedy service and now buy all my used games and movies on their site. I only had an issue with one BluRay coming without the bonus disc. When I emailed customers support, they let me keep the movie, and credited me the purchase price. My recent transactions have been great from PSP, 360, and PS3 titles all coming complete in good condition, and fast.

Maybe it is the Holiday slamming them, but I just ordered 2 PSP games, and 2 PS3 games, and was emailed they shipped just a few days after. I bet they are in my mail box today.

Good luck.

How come gran turismo 5 is not 60% on their website? I've been waiting to get this game for fourty dollars at least used on their website but everytime they had a deal on it they were never instock.

Well I did get a tracking number for one of my orders, and even though supposedly shipped on the 11th, it didnt arrive at the post office until today, so hopefully if I get it tomorrow, it doesnt have any problems.
For being a retail business, they seem to have the same standards as a mediocre ebay seller, but I guess for most on here, its all about the final price.
I think you and Darkonjohn have some fair comments.

We are combining over 800,000 unique sku's from 147 retail locations and selling them on both goHastings and Amazon. So not only does the item need to be found on the shelf, it has to be in good condition. And since the item could sell in a store, on our site or Amazon, we are constantly updating the inventory. Our fill rate is above 95% in total but that is little comfort to you if your order is canceled. We will be improving the inventory system in the first part of 2011. I expect this to reduce our cancellations significantly.

In the past, we did back order the products for a longer period of time. However, we reduced that because then everyone complained that we held their order for so long and we should have cancelled if we weren't going to fill it so they could find it somewhere else. I think the way we are doing it now is the best; if we improve our inventory then we will have fewer cancellations over all. But you will still see things come and go if our inventory is low. For example, if we cancel an order as fraud, it goes back into inventory. And our store's are always buying product that gets added to our inventory.

As for the wait in guest service, I'm sorry.
I hope I didn't come off as if I was complaining because I wasn't (even though I have had some issues). I was mainly just trying to explain to everyone else the challenges that GoHastings is dealing with (partly guessing on my part, but apparently pretty close to the mark).

I'd also like to say that my preference would be to keep my order open longer as you try to fulfill each item because your deals are usually good enough that they are worth waiting for. I say this because of my last 3 orders, I have a few items still "In process" and I don't mind waiting for them ;-)

And since you'll be updating your website, one possible enhancement might be to allow customers to cancel unshipped items via your web site, so the customer can decide if the order should be cancelled if they don't want to wait. And a status of "backordered" rather than "In process" would be helpful to clarify the difference between the two.

I do find it curious how some items are cancelled almost immediately while others are left in a "In progress" state for a while, but I assume there are some valid reasons for this.

One last piece of feedback: Given the problems associated with the "Buy 2 Get 1 for $1" deal when one or more items in the order are cancelled, I'd suggest not doing this type of deal in the future and instead stick with a 30% off each item promotion instead.

Thanks again for the recent great deals and for having a presence in these forums. Obviously there will be some people that have problems and will complain when things don't work out the way the wanted, but overall I think you've got a lot of happy customers here (including myself).

What I am pissed off about is that customer service didn't even seem to read my email! I ordered 3 games when the buy 2 get 1 for $1 was still active. I got an email that 2 of the games were out of stock, so I emailed customer service asking if I could keep my order and wait for them to be back in stock and if not possible to please cancel my ENTIRE order. Well, a few days later I get a copy and paste email saying my customer service problem was "resolved" and then I get a shipping notice for the one game. Is there anyone actually reading the emails!? Now I have to return this game I no longer want since it's no longer worthwhile when i'm not getting the buy 2 get 1 for $1. Since they were planned as Christmas gifts, I now have to find something else last minute. Not happy at all with my experience at GoHastings. This isn't the first time either. The last time I ordered a game from them (Pokemon Platinum) I was shipped a bootleg copy of Pokemon Diamond. ~_~ Ugh. With customer service pretty much non existent, I don't think I will be ordering anything else in the future. :(

Oh, and now the games I ordered are 'in stock' on the website. Really, why couldn't they have just waited to ship the games in my order? Or at least give us the option. :/

Well, I ordered DMC4, The Saboteur and Ninja Blade for about $15 total on the 17th when they were offering free shipping. Got all three in great condition, complete cases and manuals.

Go Hastings, maybe I doubted you.... thanks!
This is absurd! My order for Yakuza 3 "shipped" on the 14th and there's still nothing. So much for expedited shipping.
Perhaps the post office " lost" it. Thats what they told me when I called. They did offer to reship the games I bought , but not at the sale price my original order cost . If you got a tracking number you could see if it was lost. I didn't so I have no idea what happened.
This is absurd! My order for Yakuza 3 "shipped" on the 14th and there's still nothing. So much for expedited shipping.
One of my orders "shipped" on the 14th arrived yesterday, also expedited. Give it another day or two, the holidays are slamming the USPS.

ordered a bunch of stuff on free shipping day.
ordered infinite undiscovery used and received a brand new one today!
also dark city director's cut dvd in mint condition.
few more games and guides on the way...so far so good..
Our fill rate is above 95% in total but that is little comfort to you if your order is canceled.
This is extremely deceptive. There is NO WAY that your fill rate on used games and movies is above 95%. I have been lucky to get 2/3 of every order over the years. Maybe you can claim 95% if you are counting new items that you keep significant stock of, but your record on used items is atrocious as has been my experience and the experience of most others here.

Your feedback on Amazon.com is so bad for good reason. Better that you list your wares there though, since such a poor customer satisfaction ratio would get you in hot water on ebay. Realistically, Hastings is probably the least reliable of all major entertainment etailers.

To the people who did not receive their orders because they were "lost" by the post office, make sure to dispute the charge with your credit card company. Hastings is responsible if you do not receive what you ordered and your CC company will side with you.

I've had shipping times vary quite a bit with my orders. Of a dozen or more games I ordered, one was received the next day, several were received on the second day, and I'm still waiting for several more. It all depends on the post office and where the items are shipping from (which can be different for each game).

Waiting 7 or 8 days is not unheard of for standard USPS mail, especially during the holidays and if the item is passing through parts of the country having bad weather.

In a weird change of events, my orders are all shipped according to the web site and all of my bending bank transactions have vanished with the money put back into my account.
So, as it stands now ill be receiving my games and my bank account never got charged. Weird.
Will follow up on it when/if the games arrive.

That happened to me a few days ago, and then the charges appeared again a few days later, but I still haven't received my games.

My cancellation bane right now is gohastings. First they send me the wrong game from Cyber Monday and refuse to do anything about it. Then all this 20% off used games, they've cancelled everything except Power Gig Guitar Bundle and they just sent me the guitar no game. My Playstation Move Bundle which I've tried to snag three times now has been in processing for two weeks holding up money and causing the fraud prevention service to turn off my card until I called them.
Merry Christmas, Gohastings. I love that you keep restocking the Playstation Move Bundle on Amazon but won't send me one. And when I point out the fact to your customer service people when they sent me the wrong game, they can't do anything about it.

Got my games ordered on free shipping day already, Madden 10, NCAA Basketball 09, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2/Hardened Edition, all in great condition.

These are my current complaints. These are my last 5 orders.

Order Placed 11/24
Ordered Game of Thrones a board game. Received another boardgame called Letters of the Marque. Found amazon listing for the game I ordered which was on sale and why I ordered it. I was told I could send it back at my cost and then told they would send me a label to send it back. Never got the label, still have the wrong game. Never got the correct game, refuse to order it at double the price.

Order Placed 12/11
Two of my three games shipped, Playstation Move was cancelled even though it was still on the website and on sale on Amazon through their storefront.

Order Placed 12/12
Two games cancelled (wow what a surprise). Power Gig Guitar Bundle shipped. But low and behold, no packaging, just a loose guitar. NO GAME, no guitar pick. Had to order the game on Amazon to make it for Christmas. Have not sent complaint yet because I have no faith in it being resolved.

Order Placed 12/17
Sport Champions Playstation Move Bundle still processing. Caused my card to get shut off until I called my credit card company and assured them that I made the order. Also watched the gohastings Amazon store front sell no less than 5 of these this morning at an inflated price instead of shipping me my copy.

Order Placed 12/17 shortly after first one
All canceled but at least they let me know quickly. Still put my money on hold on my credit card though.

I've been a fan of gohastings for awhile, but my past 5 orders all had epic problems. I may just stick with buying books from there for awhile.

I've been pretty fortunate.

I just received confirmation that these shipped today and only had one canceled game during the free shipping day:

12/17/2010
Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia (canceled)
Fracture --> $4.79
The Club --> $4.79
Golden Axe: Beast Rider --> $5.65
NIN - Year Zero --> $2.34
University of Tennessee Car Flag --> 2 for $6.24
Tennessee Titans Car Flag --> 2 for $6.24
Oskar 756 Multimedia Cabinet --> 2 for $99.98

Free shipping on those shelves was awesome at those prices, thanks for following through!!!

Had one wrong item so far, but shipping it back would cost as much as the refund. I guess I'll just keep it.

I ordered Gundam 08th MS team Vol 3 and got Gundam Seed: The Rumbling Sky.

That is really funny, but I won't elaborate further :D

I think gohastings took a page from Gamestop for my order. Ordered from them because I heard most things come complete/decent condition. Got Uncharted in the mail today and it's in some cheapo dvd case with no manual and the not for resale cover art and the disc has a light scratch.

At least my order wasn't canceled although I kind of wish it was.

I had a wrong game shipped to me and I emailed them. It took over a week to get a response, but they sent me a prepaid label to send the game back and get a refund. So either email or call them, even though both ways can be such a hassle to get a response.
What's their exchange policy? My Tom Clancy's Vegas 2 XBox 360 just arrived yesterday with some deep enough scratches on the disc that you could feel them with your fingers. The disc won't install on the hard drive past 12% without giving the error message that the disc is dirty or scratched.

It does load okay, but should I be worried that at about 12% through the game while playing it that it would just stop since it can't read the disc during the installation process? Do I have to pay for shipping if I'm returning it in exchange for another Vegas 2 disc? Thanks.
We will pay the shipping to return the defective product. But we do not have an exchange option. You'll return that one for a full refund and then you can order another copy.

What about a response to the individual who seems to be having the worst month of his gaming life because of poor service several posts back?
What about a response to the individual who seems to be having the worst month of his gaming life because of poor service several posts back?
If you are talking about me, I am in no way having a bad month. Sure I was pissed to have my credit card locked up on me (luckily I found out quickly and in a non-humiliating way). And I still have quite a bit on my credit card pending but unfortunately I can't see the details on what's pending, just an amount, which helps very little. Though I am suspicious that it may be my canceled orders.

I am getting two prepaid mailing labels (for the wrong game and the guitar) and they are looking into the move bundle for me. I hope I get it because it is the only thing I really wanted. The others I can buy on after-christmas sales, hopefully for even cheaper.

I still don't like their customer service, but I'm sure they are inundated with complaints. At least that's what I tell myself to stay polite and less bitchy.

Also, I live in TN- ashamed of the Titans right now.

That's not furniture, that's 3/8 inch particleboard. It WILL break the first time you move it. Walmart and Big Lots have crap like that for $29 every day, and at $29 its still a rip off because it will break. But hey, if its what you want, enjoy it.

Ooh, someone's making a guarantee... boy will your face be red if it doesn't break

Hmmm, so my order that was canceled (and confirmed canceled by two separate Hastings reps via phone and email) is now showing as "Completed via Standard Shipping".

Credit card has not been charged.

I wonder if this is just the website being wonky or if they ended up shipping the item after all?

I've got 6 of these exact same shelving units for my game, DVD and BluRay collections. They retail for $150 each -$99 for two of them shipped is a very sweet deal. They are laminated particle board but the Oskar ones are surprisingly sturdy. All of mine have gone through three cross-state moves and several other in-town moves and are all still perfect. Wish I'd have seen that sale then.

These reviewers would like to disagree...seeing how they own it opposite of your baseless opinion.

I'd like to come over to your house and take a gander at all your fine furniture.

THEY'RE DVD BOOKCASES...NOT A fuckING JUNGLE GYM...SHEESH.

You see when you spend a little money on sufficient shelving...you're free to spend $2,500 on your third HD television and remodel your kitchen in oppulence.

I think the issue lies more in your moving skills.

Stuff it up your arse.

So all my packages got here today:

LittleBigPlanet
Metal Gear Solid 4
inFamous
Uncharted 1
Lair

Got all five games for about $40 during the 20% off sale. All were in great condition, only problem was two had broken cases. I can tell the cases shipped fine and broke in the package though, because the plastic pieces were in the envelope. So aside from the less than adequate bubble mailers, or UPS's people sitting on my packages, my first orders from gohastings is a success! I now have a backlog for my 3 day old PS3.

(I went to gamestop and bought two $1.99 ps3 sports games to get new cases. Tossed the sports games in the trash.)
Ooh, someone's making a guarantee... boy will your face be red if it doesn't break
He's right, particle board is disposable furniture. It's OK for college students who move a lot and just throw away their stuff but $50 is way too much to pay for it.

Why you don't have an exchange program if GOHASTINGS sends someone the wrong product?

If someone buys during a sale of some kind, re-ordering weeks after they've received the wrong product and shipped it back when the sale is no longer going on doesn't make sense. Wouldn't you agree?

If your point of sale system is so archaic both in store and online that it can't handle these types of exchanges once a product has rightly or wrongly been marked shipped, you'd think GoHastings would give the customer some kind of coupon or discount or gift card to off-set the higher price they have to pay later on.

In the past I wasn't shipped the wrong item, but an item out of my order was canceled. Before the rest of my order was even fulfilled, the website showed the item was back in stock. I emailed GoHastings about it. They claimed it was a computer error that my item was canceled and they said there was nothing they could do to re-instate the item to my order and that I'd have to order the item again.

The problem was, the sale/coupon that I had ordered with the first time was no longer in effect, and the item was now more expensive from GoHastings than it was from other internet retailers. I literally asked GoHastings if they wanted me to give another company my money instead of just re-instating the item to my order, and they told me I'd just have to re-order the item.

So I did re-order it. From Amazon. I think I ended up paying a couple dollars more, but it was still cheaper than the price GoHastings wanted me to pay by re-ordering with them without the sale/coupon price I originally ordered with.

I appreciate the GoHastings rep here taking the time to correct the problem with my most recent order when the free shipping coupon was yanked from my order when I clicked the submit button despite it appearing on all the check out screens (a problem with their online point of sale system I can only assume), but GoHastings as a company has such a long way to go if it wants to compete in the online marketplace against Amazon, Newegg, Ebay, and other B&Ms with an online presence.

The online sale system needs an overhaul to become modernized. The website itself needs to become modernized.

For example, the trendy looking Flash main page is super annoying and I make a point to start any visits to GoHastings on any page but the main one so I can avoid the Flash. Apparently I'm not the only one who feels this way based on other comments in this thread. Flash-based webpages are like a distraction that are supposed to make people think you're running some kind of high tech operation when the website is anything but that. Not to mention apparently GoHastings is losing mobile sales because people can't access the main URL on their phones because of the Flash nonsense.

As another example, just look at something like the Wish List feature and how out of date that is. There's no ability to sort items on a Wish List, if you add an item twice it shows up twice, if you add an item from your Wish List to the cart its removed from the Wish List and if you decide not to purchase it, you specifically have to click the link to move it to Wish List rather than just delete it out of the cart. Just about every major retailer has a more intuitive Wish List system than that.

And while the Hastings customer service reps have good intentions, they need more latitude to adjust orders when someone, whether its a computer or the person shipping items in the store, screws up. Thankfully John here was able to fix my most recent order problem, but it seems like tons of people are having ordering issues that go unresolved or GoHasting's only answer is "tough" when other retailers can correct those types of problems.

I agree about the point of returning instead of exchanging. The game I ordered was half price on Cyber Monday and now I will not be ordering it from gohastings and most likely I won't bother shipping the wrong game back either because it is a hassle to me when it was in no way my fault. If I could return the game and get the one I ordered, that would be much more efficient.

And many internet retailers do remedy the issue with an apology and a coupon or just told me to keep the wrong item and they send the right item. If it's not my fault, why am I the one being hassled? I get the story that gohastings CS is just in a call center so can't resend the item. That seems like a pretty outdated system. Something needs to be fixed.

The flash is annoying and leads to many slowdowns with the site.
*sigh* My order for DA:O Ult. Ed. got canceled. Again.
Just gotta keep at it. It took me 5 tries, with each order placed on a different day, to finally get one go through. Got the game yesterday and it's good condition/complete, so all in all I got the game I wanted at a good price. Now I just have to wait for my other games to come.

So aside from the less than adequate bubble mailers, or UPS's people sitting on my packages, my first orders from gohastings is a success! I now have a backlog for my 3 day old PS3.

(I went to gamestop and bought two $1.99 ps3 sports games to get new cases. Tossed the sports games in the trash.)
lol thats a good buy. i still dont know why i passed on the 20% off plus free shipping. i been kicking myself for a week over that.

but i did get the B2G1 deal; infamous came in a fcked up case, alan wake was good, and batman was near perfect.
