I've ordered over 30 used guides.

At least 5 have arrived brand new and sealed.
Which leads me to believe the are less likely to cancel used guide / book orders and just send you a new one.

The rest of my guides have looked mint.
 
This company just seems like too big of a pain in the ass for me. All the best to those who are willing to work with them on nonsense like this. I'd rather pay slightly more and not have bullshit like this in my life.

I have had a lot of them come sealed.. most excellent.. my New Vegas guide was missing the map, thats the only complaint I have had.

GoHastings wasn't pulling anything. The guy was just too fucking lazy to send it back even though they were going to refund him for their mistake. It's on him, not GoHastings.

I've never heard of GoHastings trying to enforce a 5 day return period though. In fact their own return policy states its 30 days: http://www.gohastings.com/custserv/custserv.jsp?pageName=Returns

But the fact is, had the guy mailed it later than 5 days, GoHastings would have issued him the refund anyway. Put yourself in their shoes. You mail the the item back 10 days later. They get it. Their options are to process the refund for you, or if they're going to be sticklers, refuse it and ship the item back to you. The return process is already a waste of time and money. They're just going to process it and give you a refund.

And its not like asking him to return the item within a week is that huge of a hassle anyway... Put it back in the shipping container, put the pre-paid return label on, and give it to your postal delivery person or cruise by a post office. Unless you're out in literally butt fuck Egypt, that should be reasonably possible at some point within a week. Post Offices have those package bins. There's zero need to interact with any employees so you can do it after hours as well.


In other news, the in stock games on my Wish List have their every day discount pricing in red back, and they're all back to being "normally" priced, so it looks like they've fixed the glitch.

I've had great experience w/ gohastings CSR's.

My first purchase w/ them last october was a disaster. No cover art, games were beat up, and no manuals. All 360 games came in white Wii cases.

Called up hastings and they overnighted replacement to me.

Another time, they sent me a wrong game but mailed out the replacement before I even sent in the wrong copy. LOL, CSR told me to enjoy the wrong game as a rental for a few days and then mail it out before shipping label expires.


Only problems I have w/ hastings is their website and the fact that you have to wait a month to get a refund. Other than that, hastings is ACE's in my book!

You're lucky you've got them to ship you replacements. I've never been able to get GoHastings to mail me replacements when they've screwed up. It's always return->refund->I have to place a new order if I still want the item.

I was referring to gohastings atrocious shipping methods. Its not gohastings fault that he's lazy. It is their fault for sending the wrong item. Hell I got the wrong order, from New Jersey. If noone makes complains directly to the company and forces them to pay shipping to make the order right then they will continue to make mistakes like this. If it costs them shipping, sometimes worth more than the item to fix the issue, maybe they'll start making employees triple check whats in each package before its thrown out the door.
 
Never had any problems with the CSR department. Have had several orders not arrive or shipped to the wrong location, they just refunded my money. No big loss since they always have sales. Games have mostly arrived in complete (with the exception of The Orange Box)... I've bought plenty-o-games from them and they're a great source to build your library.

I agree with that. Try ordering one of the Punisher movies from them. I wanted to grab the old one with Dolph Lundgren, and every time I order it they ship me the more recent Thomas Jane version because the employees are too lazy to check the UPC number and just look for it by title. I'm sure there are multiple titles that have different remakes under the same title, not to mention different releases of each remake under the same title (basic, special edition, etc.).

Either they train their employees poorly or employees are too lazy to first check the UPC on the box against what is ordered, then actually open the used box to check that the disc for that item is inside.

Honestly, I never seen "per order" but i haven't seen the per item. When I clicked on the page to submit my email it said 40% off used videogames 1 time use. And i looked around on their facebook, it says 40% used videogames. Where do you see the off a single item?

I just checked all their posts on facebook again, I still don't see off a single item. It's always 1 time use.

That's true. I'll end up shipping it back and hopefully get the refund but if nothing else I guess it assures they've got to pay for shipping. An HD-DVD probably isn't even worth the shipping amount :roll:

Price increase is still there from last week on 2/3 items in my cart. Irregularly scheduled maintenance didn't fix that one.

NEW LA Noire was 64. Now down to 49.99. Used LA Noire is still 49.18.

This is why I am hesitant to buy books from them, they have some manga I want. Never owned any but I like a few anime shows based on manga. But they list the different volumes as the same item, but each has a different ISBN. They are only like $1.50 with free shipping, but I dont believe I would get each volume 1, 2, and 3, which they call the same name, but only have ISBN as a identifier on the site page.

After recommending Hastings to a good friend of mine, he placed an order for all nine volumes of Black Lagoon. The first got there in a matter of days, but supposedly they didn't send him any others. I told him to contact them, he says they told him that it must have been a shipping error. Not sure if he got his money back or not, though.

Maybe once half the US population has complained about their inventory system, they'll get around to implementing a proper one.

As the poster below me said too, it's not all horror stories. Every book I've ordered from them has been in perfect condition. Hell, I scored both volumes of the Street Fighter Ultimate Edition for under ten bucks each, that's easily a third or more of the price.

I've placed a couple orders from GoHastings for books and have got the exact items I ordered in perfect condition (said they were used, but I'm almost positive they're brand-new, likely just inventory clearancing). Just sayin', it's not all horror stories.

yeah, but the fact that people have doubts about ordering from a company means the company is not doing there job in obtaining customers to the fullest.
 
Good question... I have no idea when they plan on emailing codes - Anyone ever had dealings with gohasting and emailing codes? When do they usually send them? Only reason I ask is all the horror stories of their site getting over run from all the traffic for these types of deals.

There isn't one company that does there job to the "fullest" not even Amazon.

Honestly If you're concerned about ordering from them despite the bulk of praise there is for Hastings, then GOOD. One less person to compete with when they have a sale.
 
I have a love/hate affair with Hastings. I'm back to loving em again. Bought Harry Potter blu-ray Years 1-6 set used for $46 bucks last week, and they shipped me a brand new and sealed set! Awesome deal.

Hastings Entertainment ‎@Eric- since we had pricing issues on Thurs, we posted that the email with unique codes was postponed to Monday. If you submitted your email through the Facebook tab Tue - Thurs, you'll get it on Monday.

I have had nothing but good luck buying from Hastings. The only issue is they like jacking up prices before sales... but thats a minor one. Every order has arrived rather quickly and in great shape.

I hope everyone has their carts full and ready to get in your orders before all the eBayers empty out their stock.

Seriously? Read the thread topic - Of course people are going to ask about the coupon ALL DAY. If you dont like it, dont look at the thread. Judging by the comments in this thread, people WANT this deal so they are going to ask ALL day long until they get their coupon.

Again, Hastings has said that the coupon is good on only one item. I assume coupons can't be reused, though I haven't seen Hastings put out unique coupon codes before. They have, however, been steadily revamping their coupon system after people were stacking inappropriate coupons with eachother.
