I checked a bunch of my games and most of them are requested within the system. Am I just waiting for people higher on the queue to get a chance first?
There is also the possibility that people making the requests have neither the trades nor the points to actually get the game.

I'm thinking there should maybe be some sort of review button for some point values. For instance, Battlefield 2 for X360 is 850 points (!) which is pretty much the highest non-rare point value there is. The game is currently retailing for $30. This is the type of game I want to pick up on the site, but not for so many points.

Just a suggestion as I understand that it could be overwhelming to the goozex staff to have to check into these things.

just had this thought today after this happened to me with an auction on ebay

if someone requests a game from me and I mail it out but it gets lost in the mail

what happens?

goozex will let you keep the points, but if a lot of your items get lost, they'll flag you in the system.
I'm noticing this more and more as well. Specifically with my Library. The first two I was constantly sending out games as soon as I had a free slot. Now I haven't sent anything out for two weeks and nothing has been requested either. I checked a bunch of my games and most of them are requested within the system. Am I just waiting for people higher on the queue to get a chance first?
are your games xbox games? I've noticed that most of my xbox games have been there for two months, but my gamecube games go fast. I've traded in 11 gamecube games and only sent out one xbox game. only gamecube games I haven't trade so far are RE4 and battalion warsand I have like 5 games available for trade and 2 360 games.

I have a pretty good mix of PS2 and XBOX games, but I don't have any GCN right now. I suppose it does all come down to what people are looking for.

I just signed up and wanted to buy $10 worth of points just to try it out, but the re-direct site gives me a message when I hit submit about the CC info going over an unsecure connection. Is everyone getting this?
To anyone who's bought trade credits and/or points, have you had any problems or is it relatively safe?

I really wish the site accepted Paypal! Then I'd be 100% sold on it.

Hey Does the coupon code CAG-2007 still work? I entered it when signing up but I didn't get the Points or the free trades, Whats up?

I didn't have any problems when I purchased some points about a month ago.

I believe you have to complete a trade first.

Goozex, care to chime in on these issues?

I intend to continue doing business on your site, provided this little snafu gets worked out. I love the system, but having 900 of my points locked up with some slow-moving seller, and having no way to cancel my request bc of ridiculous waiting, definitely puts a damper on it for me.

it would also be nice if I had a way to contact the seller that the system has matched me with. That way I could tell him to get the ball rolling!

Hey everyone...as usual I've been swamped, but that's not really a good excuse...so let me get right to it...

the ender -- welcome and thanks for joining! The matching process lasts 3 days per seller -- and cycles a few times in between. What we try to do is create a balance for both the buyer and seller in that you as the buyer want the match to go through fast and maybe for one reason or another, the seller can't be at his computer to complete the trade. If you are matched for more than 3 days it's because you have moved onto a different seller. Whenever a seller doesn't commit to a trade, the game is removed from their library to prevent future long timeouts. So to answer your question, you cannot opt of a match because we want to give the seller a reasonable chance to earn points for a trade.

As for your case, you are on the second seller in the queue. PM me if that doesn't go through in the next day.

Troz1820 -- hi and welcome too! I like the new faces and questions! Please see my response above about the matching process. And the reason for the limited number of trading slots for new members is to deter against any would-be scammer who wants to flood the system with fake trades.

Mr. Unorignial -- you may not be sending out much more because of a few reasons. The people requesting don't have enough points and/or trade credits, they may have their trade slots full, or you're in a long queue.

Excellent idea about the point review! and its actually the direction we're headed towards...

GrayWolf323 -- mahzilla answered you correctly! thanks mahzilla!

Mahzilla -- outside of PS1 and Dreamcast, Xbox is probably our least demanded console. Our highest is Xbox 360, PS2, PC, GC, Wii...and down the line...

johnnypark -- hey there! So the credit card payments is handled with Cybersource which is owned by Bank of America, the second largest bank in the U.S. after Citi. They do safely handle all your credit card info and processing. As for Paypal...our tech guy is having a problem tieing them into our db -- will be resolved soon and working for everyone!

darthbudge -- yes CAG-2007 still works! It expires in July...you'll get all the bonuses after your first positive trade...

Hope I helped out...and thanks again to all the new members who have posted questions!

After a few initial trades, I have been waiting for several games I am offering (full packages) that are listed as requested, to actually be matched. No luck. It seems like only the 100 point games ever get matched. It's like there are too few points chasing too many games. Especially when certain traders end up with several thousand points, then do not have anything on their request sheet that is offered, and then people like me that have a lot of games to offer, many that are requested, but no points. My Want/Offer lists are fairly balanced, points wise, so I don't really want to buy points directly. Any suggestions?

Paul

When does our number of active things increase. When will I be able to send out more than three games at the same time. It's slowing me down lol

Hey Goozex I've requested GOW the other day and i got a match but its been frozen on the "Match! Your request is waiting confirmation from the seller."
screen for 3 days! Is there something wrong with the system?
Thanx in advance

Most likely it's not frozen -- just matching, waiting 24 hours, and matching again. It'll happen 3 times before the game is removed from the system. This will happen if the person who listed the game doesn't respond to their email.

Gooz -

Thanks for the reply, and the individual attention to each of our problems/questions. That definitely goes a long way towards our trust in your site!

I will notify you if it doesn't work in the next day. Thanks!

It all depends on your rating level. Go to My Account, right below your score, you'll see a link that says "How does this work?" It'll explain the levels and how it relates to the amount of items you can offer/send.

Sorry, tried to copy and paste it, but it ended up looking nasty.

once your feedback score reaches 50 you can have five requests/offers.

i for one am going to be leaving this site alone as soon as my game arrives. i've found the points system to be rather unfair. for example the point value for battlefield 2 comes out to be $42.50. you can buy the game new for $30. that and the fact that i had to get matched with 10 people who never checked their emails before ever getting a match was incredibly frustrating.

Don't give up just because one game seems out of whack. It looks like you have picked one of the most expensive games as a want. Sometimes the points are a little out of whack - but if its not cost effective for that game move onto some other game - just like you would do with any purchase/trade. Apparently XBOX 360 games are in the highest demand and maybe that particular game is highly sought after so its value is staying high.

oh don't get me wrong, there are good deals to be had with the site. just not for things i'm after. i know from browsing other systems that there were plenty of games i would have wanted had i still had the system. i mean, lumines for $5? sign me up! its just since i'm pretty much 360 exclusive most of the games are a little to pricey for me.

...and i guess it really doesn't help that i don't want to part with any of my games either. haha

I currently have two games listed as disc-only, when in fact they include everything EXCEPT the manual. Is there the possibility of a completeness option to reflect this? I know i'd never accept a disc-only game (personal preference as well as the fact that I don't want to risk anyone using a Goozex mailer to send me the game), but if I knew it had the case, I'd be much more inclined towards receiving it. One of the games is an 800-pointer, and it seems to be requested quite a bit, but I can't imagine getting a match with it listed as disc-only

This was addressed before, problem is, it would screw up the matrix match if they added this option.

Thanks for the feedback Goozex. I've noticed this morning that my match that was pending for days is no more and the credits have been refunded. In this situation you stated that the game would be removed from the seller's Library.

My suggestion: Instead of removing the game from the seller's library, automatically set their account to vacation mode so that no more trades are done until they actively participate on the site.

Oh, and one more. I added a game to my requests and it was shipped. Unfortunately I forgot to set the game to "Full Package" instead of disc only so I expect to receive a disc only copy. Could a preference be added for setting my default request level instead of defaulting to disc only? I'm an idiot

the point system particularly on the xbox 360 end seems to be really out of wack: crackdown=700, MLB2k7=300, nba street=350, lost planet=700 ---- while at the same time bfmc2=850, cod2=650, chromehounds=700, hitman=850, lotr-bfme=750....

i know the top games are new but shouldn't there be a premium on them...crackdowns been out for a few weeks...if their going to get people to trade the new games there really should be a huge premium on the brand new games...

that said i love the site and have been very happy with my trades in and out....just wish the point system was a little bit more stable....

Strange, this is the third comment like this in 24 hours.

While not perfect the points are based on a multitude of variables like MSRP, demand, and various others. I've found their point values to be pretty reasonable most of the time, with the ocassional overvalued game or undervalued game. New games that are retailing for 40-60 dollars tend to float around 600-900 points. To me this is reasonable as I can send away a similarly valued game for another. Say enchanted arms for crackdown, similar values. At this point I can't say I find much wrong with the point system and the valuations, however that's a matter of opinion and I certainly respect anyone who feels that goozex's points system is a little out of whack for one reason or the other. Maybe it is, but it's the trading system on the market right now and I've been happliy gaming for postage since I started with them rather than the ol buy new or used and sell on half.com routine I used to do.

goozex:

not sure if my emails are going through but it seems that one of my games sent to a buyer is either lost in the mail or may have returned to you. can you confirm what might be going on and what to do from this point?

your right on all your comments.....the gooxez system is far better than the other options (gamestop or the other swap sits i've tried) but i do see a major issue with the points. Alot of the xbox games have long had set price reductions to the 30 bucks level or under (and thats not even looking at sales or what not)...so seeing those games gather more points than brand new games bothers me...i cant imagine someone wanting to trade in there version of crackdown or lost planet for 700 or worse yet mlb or nba street for 350 (though they are newer and may just not have updated)....

thinking about the games that have had price drops recently: godfather-800 / bfmc-850 / far cry-750 / hitman-850 / prey-700

looking at sequels you can see the problem too: cod2=650 / cod3=800 - that gap seems small

and again this is not to attack just a suggestion to make a great site even better

I think sometimes the points are slow to change or react to retail price drops because the MSRP they get from MUSE or whomever still lists 49.99 or whatever. I think when they see price oddities like that they eventually go in and adust the points value manually or the MSRP, something like that anyway. I think the best bet is to just drop them a line if you notice that a game's retail price has dropped significantly but the point value hasn't, eventually they will get around to taking a look at the valuation.

You can specify a preference for the shipping option... look under "My Account" and press "Change my default shipping options". You can specify what you want your default to be for your requests and your library (separately).

Goozex, I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but can you guys add an option on your site - similar to how you slect what you want for packaging - An option for what region games you get? I got a trade on a PSP game and it was Japanese, but the site didn't specify if it was English or not.

Hey everyone...just quickly read over some of the comments about our points.

This is very important for us to make sure that they are fair. We are going to take time out to see if there is a major issue or if there is just tweaking maintanence.

Btw...this is not a good day -- they killed off Captain America --

That's odd. We don't allow non-region 1 (i.e. North America) games to be traded b/c of this exact problem. Please send me a PM about the details for this trade. Will be able to offer you a point refund.

I've actually noticed that some of the game cover graphics are in japanese, specifically Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition

There are a bunch of non-region 1 games offered on Goozex. You see a ton of them in the Dreamcast & PS1 sections, and a few in the PS2 section.

For example I could throw my import copy of Tobal 2(playstation 1) up for trade, and that was never released in the U.S. There are a ton more i could list as well.

I don't think it's a bad idea to offer import versions of games, especially when dealing with the older systems.
A possible fix would be that when you try to add an import title to your list you would be prompted with a warning that the version of this game you are requesting is an import version and requires a japanese system or other method to play it. You would then have to click "ok" a couple times to verify that you understand.

Hmmm ... after all this time I am having my first trade issue - this morning I got an 'open trade reminder' about a game I haven't gotten yet. Went to PM the person and noticed they have sent 1 game (i.e. mine) ... oh well, we'll see if they reply.

Just got the e-mail invite to the Califronia meet-up for Goozex. Unfortunately San Francisco is a bit of a drive for me, but if you guys ever happen to come to San Diego, count me in. Hell, I might even make the drive if you go to Vegas ;) .

As has already been pointed out, there are a number of import games available on Goozex. I got one myself a while back that I thought was the US version (it turned out that the game in question had no US version).

Heh. You've got hundreds of Japanese games listed on the site for all systems. I actually thought you did that on purpose. I received a European exclusive PSP game last week from another Goozex user and I'm glad it was on the site, since there's no U.S. version of it yet. About half the Gameboy and DS games on my Goozex wantlist are Japanese-exclusive games as I have most of the U.S. games already.

About 90% of the games in the system that don't have cover art are Japanese games. Also, it's kind of obvious that games with titles like "Animal Yokochou -- Doki Doki Shinkyuu Shiken! no Maki" aren't U.S. games.

Hey, I booked a trade while I was out of town thinking I could go back to it and print out the shipping info and label when I got home. But I cant seem to find the trade details. Goozex, is there a way you can pull this data up for me or let me know how I can find it?

I supposedly had my first game sent off to me on 3/1/07 from CA to NC. Still haven't gotten it yet and haven't heard back from the guy about it. And here I was hoping to play it at work. lol

Yeah I have a Japanes copy of Gitaroo Man Lives! for PSP I've been tempted to list on there, but I don't want the guy to expect a US version of the game and get the Japanese one instead. That's why I've been waiting for them to make a separate listing for the Japanese version. But I like your idea about the warning thing when listing the game.

i think one idea to enhance the points system would be if there was a some kind of premium on just released games...like say if its within the the first few weeks or month or so the game would have a say, 200 pt bonus... this way people will feel like its worth it to put newer games up. I personally dont think most people would mind paying a premium for a newer game and i think it would drive down the wait time to get the newer games...

maybe this would totally mess things up...i dont know..... to me it seems like the just released games dont garner enough or maybe its just that the older games hold their value too long.....

Doh. Bummer on the Meet the Goozex Guys meetup. I'd love to come, but I've got a damn midterm during the meet n' greet window. Pity. Have fun, though! Wish I could make it.

just a note i'm basing my suggestion and the earlier comments on pretty much my exclusive trading of 360 games......so it may just be the newness of the 360 market...

either way keep up the good work...
