Emo Outrage Over MACHINE HEAD Win Boils Over - Aug. 29, 2007
MACHINE HEAD
's official web site has been updated with the following message:

"MACHINE HEAD's 'Best Album' win at last Thursday's Kerrang! Awards over pop-rock powerhouses MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE and FALL OUT BOY has apparently cut deep with fans of both bands, prompting a flood of angry whining and sad-faced emoticons on the Kerrang! message boards. MACHINE HEAD's upset victory over the multi-platinum softcore acts sent their inherently sensitive fans into an emotional frenzy, building into a tizzy of unparalleled proportions. Wrought with dismay, polished fingernails the world over lashed out at the band and metal as a whole with diatribes the likes of 'MCR really should have won!!! I'm mad now!!!!' 'What a load of shit, who the fuck listens to them?' and "Stupid MACHINE HEAD!!' at times stooping so low as to say the competition was fixed, and often gravely endangering the integrity of their carefully sideswept hair with posts like 'I H8 METAL, I H8 METAL, I H8 METAL, I H8 METAL, I H8 METAL, I H8 METAL, I H8 METAL.'

"Not surprisingly, MACHINE HEAD fans responded en masse to the tirades, lashing back in defense of the band and the undisputed quality of the album, citing critical praise, technicality, songwriting and fan response to 2007's 'The Blackening', as well as the band's influence on and history within their genre, with the occasional 'MACHINE HEAD piss all over anything MCR have ever done" thrown in for good measure.

"To much less Internet-based commotion, the band also took home the 'Hard Rock Hero' award, netting them two Kerrang! awards for the first time since 'Burn My Eyes' where they received 'Best International Band' and 'Best Video' for 'Davidian'."

*sigh*

Has it really come to this? Metal has had some exciting adversaries over the years (punk rockers, hip-hop kids, ravers, alternative scene kids, and punk rockers (again)), but shall we really celebrate metal fans out-spamming defenseless effete emo kids?

C'mon. Really now.

One time, I was working at Tower Records in Chicago. There was an in-store signing for the muscian Morrisey. During that day, about 500 Emo kids lined up accross the block waiting to get an autograph.

Long story short, Morrisey decided to quit after taking his sweet ass time signing only 150 autograph and he took off after that. All of a sudden, all these fucking Emo kids started screaming and rioting (at least what you call their version of rioting). One kid ran into my department (the movie section) and started screaming at me and he threw down a bunch of flowers.. I screamed back at him and told him "Get the hell out of the store!!"

So emo kids when they gather together, they can be an annoying force....

Any type of kids who gather together can be an annoying force, metal heads just do more damage haha, example

I've been slightly out of the loop for a few myself. Though, I've been listening to the new Samael (found out about it nearly a month after it came out...gah...). Pretty damn good to me
Dethkloks The Dethalbum got leaked, same with that "new" Sodom album.
I'm kind of interested in the new recording of the Sodom. I'll pick it up.

New Overkill is called Immortal-October 9. Song titles sound kind of "old school". Cool album cover. I'll pick it up on day one since I love Overkill.

The new Sodom recording is fucking awesome, definitely worth buying. Can't wait for the new Overkill album, hopefully I can catch them live this year too.

This makes the comment made during the Merriweather Post show during the Heaven and Hell tour even funnier:

(paraphrased) "Stand up Baltimore, this is a metal concert, not a Fall Out Boy concert!" (complete with an ad for an upcoming fall out boy show on Merriweather Post's video screens, ha)

Maryland Deathfest 2008 is looking to be the most brutal fest ever!

so....metal acts are being banned from playing at the House of Blues Anaheim...I'm so pissed off now. I fucking loved that venue. The main reason behind it is because HOB anaheim is located smack dab in the middle of Downtown Disney near Disneyland here and the demographic metal shows bring is not on par with ABC/Disney. fucking cunts.

I just came.
Of all people, I can't believe you omitted Hellnation from the list.
I've honestly never heard them. I have about five other bands though that start with Hell.

Oh. I thought they were pretty big amongst hardcore/fastcore types. They're from my neck o' the woods, so perhaps that was my mistake.

Dynamite Up Your Ass, from the album of the same name.
(IMO, their last album, "Dynamite Up Your Ass," was their finest - but if you hunt them down, don't forget to pick up a copy of "A Sound Like Shit."

Hmm, that's actually pretty good.

I probably didn't know em cause I tend to stick to slower crust mostly, though I'm branching back into fastcore and power violence now that I've amassed over 9 gigs of crust.

leaked, ima jizzin'. love this band

I highly recommend everyone checks out Between the Buried and Me- Colors. I know they get the metalcore tag slapped on quite often but this is one of the most interesting albums I have heard from a metal band. You can stream the album here http://www.victoryrecords.com/albumtrailers/colors/, but I wouldn't recommend watching the video interpretations. Anyways I'm really anxious to hear the new Black Dahlia Murder, gonna check it out now.

5 more bands added to MDF...

Macabre - Illinois (fuck YEAH!)
Phobia - California
Defeated Sanity - Germany
Copremesis - New York
Decrypt - Indiana

Colors is really good, but I still think I prefer The Silent Circus the most.

Also, Phobia?

Awesome.

4 more bands announced for MDF 2008, only one more spot left...

Anaal Nathrakh - England (Awesomeness)
Blood Duster - Australia
Disfear - Sweden
Flesh Parade - Louisiana

So Sneaky, are you coming up to Maryland haha? The fest is becoming more of a grindcore festival each year and it's awesome, because grind acts are always great live.

Disfear now too? Fuuuuuuck. I wish I could, but being that I'm in Washington state, that's a damn long journey.

Holy crap. I wanna go.

Maybe I can arrange for a roller derby bout against Charm City, and get my flight and some hotel taken care of.

...hmmmm...

Hahahaha Danzig fell off the stage at his show in Baltimore, he didn't even play any Misfits songs with Doyle because of the incident.

Ha. Uncle Glenn is swell but I would have loved to hear the noise he made when he fell off. "WhaoOOAWHHAAHGGH!!"

Nah I think he would have said something like this "WhoaMOTHHHHHHER!"

Sad news....

Drummer Witold "Vitek" Kieltyka of the Polish extreme metal band DECAPITATED passed away in a Russian hospital from injuries sustained in a recent road collision. He was 23 years old.

Vitek and DECAPITATED singer Covan (real name: Adrian Kowanek) were hurt in an accident earlier in the week involving DECAPITATED's tour bus and a truck carrying wood in Gomel, on the Russia/Belarus border. Both musicians reportedly sustained serious head injuries in the collision, which is believed to have been the fault of the band's driver (although this has not yet been officially confirmed).

According to the Polish Internet portal Onet.pl, Vitek underwent trepanation, a form of surgery in which a hole is drilled or scraped into the skull, and was due to be transported to a hospital in Krakow, Poland for further treatment.

Covan's family released a statement yesterday (Thursday, November 1) that the vocalist's condition had improved. At the time, the vocalist was still said to be at a hospital in Novozybkov, Russia, where he and Vitek were taken following the accident.

Sad news, can't say I was a fan. I did like Winds of Creation, definitely a must own death metal album.

R.I.P. Vitek

I know Agnostic Front has really lost their way, but I'm interested in the new album. Does it sound more in the vein of bands like Killswitch Engage (or Hatebreed etc). Is it even worth it to check it out?
Kane, I think you just made every friend I've ever had shit their pants out of sheer laughter. Nice find.
I missed the joke. Who the the chick singing with Danzig?

By the way, I met Matt Pike today from High on Fire at Amoeba Records....He was a cool guy.

God I hope not.

Lucky fucker. If I met him I'd have to restrain myself from humping his leg for Sleep and Asbestosdeath.
God I hope not.
Yeah me too. The last newer stuff I heard from them was crap. Trying to hard to sound the hip bands of today.

Yeah...It was kinda weird because It was out of my norm for me. I went up to him and told I was a fan of his music and I listen to all of his records. I was conscious about overdoing it though...I didn't want to come off as too fawning but I was pretty excited to see him. I consider him a real celebrity - I would not have the same reaction if I met Paris Hilton...

Yeah, I saw a flier for their show with trail of the dead when I was in Minneapolis a few weeks back. I wasn't too keen on the idea of a cartoon metal band touring, even if they sound rather good.

I miss the "I know this is goofy, you know this is goofy, but let's pretend it isn't" Danzig. Now he's bitter old Uncle Glenn that wears dumb Skeletor claws.

On a similar subject, here's Danzig's grocery list. I like this almost as much as the Shakira/Danzig video:
Gene Hoglan owns all!
This is correct.

Here is something new. I've been ordering from Amazon.com for years and never had a problem...until today.

Last week I ordered "The Lost Tracks of Danzig" and the package appeared today. When I opened up the box, there was the DVD set of the Gilmour Girls Complete 5th Season.

I'm assuming that Rita Larsen in Troutberg, Oregon is in for a shock when she opens up her box and gets my Danzig cds.
