That is actually something I am scared of. Rockstar is known for not showing any game footage of the last GTA games up until a few weeks before the game releases.

Are you sure?
All the trailers I've seen from them feature the in-game engine.



Also, there's a 1UP blog post that says the game is taking place in an area we already know.
So, not a new place.
Here's to looking forward to New York or London.

that is true, but I remember for like GTA:VC the game came out in October and there weren't even any pics of the game up until September.
 
man i was so looking foreward to a gta in a third world country, i mean thats all the politcians need to ignite another huge video game controversey.

I hope the trailer shows gameplay.

And I hope the gameplay is COMPLETELY redone. If it plays similar to III/VC/SA then I'm not buying.

The gameplay for those games was good years ago, but by today's standards they suck IMO.
 
the trailer is also about 3.5 minutes long, so yeah.


edit: whoops this thread was a pag longer than I thought, anyway, anyone know if the trailers going to be on the XBL marketplace?

I always enjoyed the driving in the game. Combat and firing weapons, though, could use an overhaul.

Personally, I'm looking for (1) online multiplayer, (2) a fantastic soundtrack, and (3) for everything else to be pretty underwhelming. Keep your standards low so that everything is a pleasant surprise. ;)

Plus, add in the custom soundtracks, and you've got yourself a game that was overall, better than any of the PS2 GTA games.

Watched the countdown go to 0:00 and it redirected me to that page, that's where I get the 404. My guess? Server crashed. And will continue to for about a week. (or a few hours)

That is pretty much why I liked True Crime NYC a lot more than any GTA game. Sure, it got bad reviews (which I don't understand), but the driving was great, the combat was pretty good, and it gave you some sort of decent story to work off of. (the stories in the GTA games dont even count as stories IMO).
 
How come i still have to wait 34 minutes , my countdown has not ended and i trust my countdown way more than your countdown that explains why u get the 404 !

I agree that there is a desperate need for a gameplay overhaul. I always liked VC and San An for their clever writing/stories, with the gameplay being a distant third (second being the environments). If it doesn't get an RE 4 treatment, I think I might pass. MIGHT.
 
Oh man...I'm gonna be in class when it goes up, so I'm gonna have to watch it without sound. Still, don't think I'll be able to resist.
 
I get the feeling im going to be counting down every minute since 30 minutes and down and i will not be able to watch the trailer but oh well im still going to do it because i like to be disappointed
 
HOLY CRAP!!!

Just saw a leaked trailer.........freakin crazy.
The models are almost lifelike! Tables Tennis or whatever that game was!

City IS HUGE. I love NY.

You know, I have a feeling we're going to see something really really weird here.

I'm halfway expecting it to end up with Wind Waker graphics. I'm not saying it'll happen, but just Rockstar tends to throw us for a loop every once in a while. I'm just saying this could be one of those times where everyone's jaw drops.

True Crime: NYC also had much better mechanics than any GTA game, and it beat Saints Row by a few months release. I personally loved True Crime: NYC and I hope the new GTA steals the best elements from it.
