Because Crackdown and Saints Row look so much alike, I forgot.
You're correct there. But Crackdown is a completely different visual style than what Volition and Rockstar are aiming for. Crackdown is in the future, and the cel-shading elements in the design of the game give it a more sci-fi, techno future look. Don't forget about the True-Crime games either....

Volition and Rockstar wanted to recreate entire recognizable cities, places where you can say "oh it feels like I've been here before" But you don't seem to be giving Rockstar a chance. All the other GTA games have taken place in a city-scape, so has Saint's Row, then this GTA4 trailer comes out and is yet again taking place in a city, and you say it's a rip off? I'm not sure how that works.
Hey, stupid, if you read my first post you'd see I said it's ironic since SR took so much from GTA.

Go read a book, step your reading comprehension up.
This thread is 16 pages. I'm not reading your "first post."

Your just pissed cause so many people are dogging you about your comment.

You made a stupid comment so live with it asshat.

When I said it was rip off, I meant it in jest. I don't actually feel like it's a blatant rip off, like Sony stealing motion sensing. I just had higher expectations and was hoping to be blown away like the difference between GTA2 to GTA3, but that's not the case. I'm sure the game will still be great, and I still plan on buying it.

If you aren't going to read the whole conversation then you shouldn't comment because stupid things get typed by your stupid ass.

Are you sure you're not blown away by the differences? Look at screen shots of Saint's Row, then watch the GTA4 trailer again. There's a pretty big difference if you ask me.

yea let me read, and memorize a 16 page thread thats 25 days old.

At least I've got more common courtesy not to call random people on the internet stupid asses over one comment they made. . Your heavy use of curse words just shows a lack of intelligence.

Enjoy your ignorance, and make sure my fries are hot when I pull around to the window.

Your 22 years old be a fucking man, you made a stupid comment live up to what you said. Everyone's attacking you for you dumb comment so you go to who you think is the easy target. Just continue to be a immature child, calling random strangers on the internet dumb asses. When your the one looking stupid, cause your blowing up over the dumbest thing.
Wow, a CAG Forum first, a long thread in which someone other than me is fending off a bunch of people who called him out on his stupid post.
I got have no problem with you VG.

LOL. Hey Zewone and I have worked out our argument....him and CitizenB on the otherhand.....

I love that it seems to be a perfectly accurate rendition of NYC, but with all the phoney & humorous names that are what makes the GTA universe great. So its real, but its still fictional, awesome. :) The Cyclone is called the 'Screamer' and the Metlife building is the Get a Life building, lol.

That's funny coming from an unemployed cook.

I'm not blowing up, and I stand by what I said. I don't know why I'd have to act like man about anything in this thread. Seems like it really bothered you that I wasn't impressed by the trailer.
LOL. Hey Zewone and I have worked out our argument....him and CitizenB on the otherhand.....
He's the one blowing up over the simplest of things.

I'm good, I just want him to see its easy to say oops I made a mistake, I'm a man shit happens.

But he rather pull childish shit, and call people dumb asses. Yea real good argurement. I could even see that working for politicians.

*presidential debate*

1st prez candidate: "Well I think lowering taxes could hurt us in a long run."

2nd prez candiate your rebuttal?

"Dumb stupid ass."

I'm surprised to see so many people impressed with the game. I wish they showed some gameplay, because the graphics were pretty lacking (expected for a GTA game). The buildings look like cardboard. So much for next gen.

Hopefully the gameplay has improved.

Looks pretty good from the screen shots. Downloading the trailer now. Maybe the guy use to be a russian mobster or enforcer. Just wait for the guy to grab a ride and listen to "Stayin' Alive" on the radio.

oh no words from a stranger about my current life situation hurt.
I could be a florist...

The fuck you aren't blowing up. I said that your comment saying it ripped off of SR was dumb.

Then your the one going and personally attacking me. "dumb ass." "stupid." etc You don't like me put me on your ignore list. Be a fucking man, and quit acting childish.

For me I'm done with you, at least I'm mature, and don't resolve arguments with "dumb ass."

I don't know what mistake I'd have to admit to. I like calling people names because I'm immature. Is that so wrong?

I'm just saying we went from discussing to you blowing and going from "dumbass." to personal attacks that had no bearing on what we speak of. I made some good points, and instead of a valuable rebuttal you said "thats funny coming from an unemployed cook." That has nothing to do with what we speak of. Nor did it make any sense. That comment would only have made sense if I was dogging the restaurant industry.

Your yelling, and cussing over what? Not a game, or something worthwhile but something as a simple as a trailer, not even a normal trailer, a teaser trailer. For what? what does it change? You could have responded to my post by quoting your old post. Saying look I was making a joke, or I'm sorry I should have finished my post with /sarcasm.

I guess you admitted your immature thats a start.

i wasnt too impressed by the trailer especially after the crap i had to go through to see it but heres to hoping all those pretty buildings will be accessable. and being able to shoot through windows

You made a comment about me keeping your fries hot.

I'm not going to sit here and analyze every post, I already read what was said.

Probably not. God knows the Xbox 360 and PS3 hardware can handle it but that would take an assload of programmers to make every room of every building in the entire city have breakable windows, being able to walk in rooms, etc.

yeah well if they could at least make more than half of the buildings enterable then id be happy with that. not to mention when the police chase you itd be cool if they came in after you.and id like to be able to use the stuff in the hideouts like sitting on chairs or turning on the tv or radio. and i want bigfoot dammit!!!!!!!!!!

God that stuttered a lot.

Anyway, I enjoyed that gameplay footage because it gave me a good idea of what Rockstar did to fix the mechanics of the series.

So thats why stalker has all of that? If stalker can pull it off GTA can also.
It looks really good. I can't wait for more actual details on the game.

I liked seeing that Cluckin' Bell will return.
I didn't see the Cluckin' Bell when I watched it just now, but I did get a kick out of the sign for the Burger Shot's Heartstopper Burger with like 7 patties piled on it. Good stuff.

I guess opinion is split on how good the graphics looked on this, but personally, I got all tingly watching it. Then again, I'm an unapologetic GTA whore, and I'm still playing PS2 games on a TV that was built in the 1980's, so whatever. All I know is I'll be calling in sick to work on October 16th.

game looks like a throwback to GTA 3 with more shit to do (not from the trailer, but i'm assuming that there is a crapload more stuff to do)

hey, i like the urban settings in games..this works out great for me...put in some cool gameplay features and some online modes, and instant buy for me!

On the right street corner there.

I’m glad to see Rockstar taking a chance and portraying the images in a very artistic way. It’s easy to see that at lest the trailer is very inspired by the movie Koyaanisquatsi by Godfrey Reggio and Francis Ford Coppola, and to a lesser extent the other two movies in the trilogy. It even sounds like Philip Glass scored the trailer. I hope that some of these ideas will be translated to the actual gameplay.

OK, thanks. You know, it's funny- I had paused on that exact shot and studied it for a while, but I guess I was just looking at everything else so closely that I looked right past it.

Nice teaser. The NYC-ish (Liberty City) setting and the Russian mafia storyline seem like a very logical progression for the series. And if the world is as large as the trailer makes it seem, then I'll be in sandbox heaven.

Still lots of what ifs, and details to speculate on. I wonder if the subway will be fully realized and if you can ride on the coasters?

Even if it's not as big or freeform as I'm hoping it is, as a fan of the series it still looks like a must-buy to me.

No trying to argue as I've done enough for today. But how does it seem like Koyaanisquatsi that movie was nothing but a bunch of scenes stuck together.
It would show the smoke stack of a building, then cars in traffic, then an assembly line. How did you get that from the GTA4 trailer?

btw Koyaanisquatsi, and the other two are awesome flicks.

EDIT: I see now "Koyaanisquatsi = 1. crazy life 2. life out of balance 3. life disintegrating 4. life in turmoil 5. a way of life that calls for another way of living.

I'm thinking that maybe Rockstar has a little bit of Europe up it's sleeve and they're only showing us Liberty at the moment. In a few months maybe they'll show us what other cities we'll be treated to.

I'm glad I'm not the only person to have caught this. I wonder if Rockstar got permission to do that?

The way the trailer was put together instantly reminded me of the trilogy. The camera shots, the accelerated frames, the music, the mood. Take a look http://videodetective.com/default.aspx?PublishedID=137822 (fast forward to the middle of the trailer).I just like the fact that they took some time to think about how they wanted to present it not just show a prerendered cut scene or simply show a guy running around shooting anything that move.

I've seen the movie, and I get what you saying now.
You just brought the trailer to a new higher level. :)

Deeper meanings man, deeper meanings.
