Grand Theft Auto IV - Gen. Discussion & Info (PS3) OUT NOW PS3 review score = 99.6%

Don't you get a 5 or 6 star wanted level for going into the airport though? As for the pigeons flying away, I think it would've been more interesting if they made them do that.

BTW, did anyone else find the World's Fair location on the first island? It's to the northeast of Packie's(two grey circles on the map). They have those huge towers that they used in the Men In Black movie in there, as well as the globe from the World's Fair to the southwest(I think) of Packie's. That looks like a circle ringed with some side paths, with I believe a second circle on the outside of the first one.

There's a ladder in the one tower that I think you can climb, but I don't remember which button to press to climb. LOL

It's triangle ;).

I've climbed up one of those towers before hoping to see a pigeon at the top but there was nothing. Wasted a good 2-4 minutes climbing the damn place but at least the view was awesome.

Seems to be a good place to do some custom sniper only matches.

Hahaha,
Niko looks hella confused on the "Photo Shoot" mission when he's talking to Playboy, nahmean? Half the time he hardly understands what people are telling him

I'm surprised he can understand Jacob. I can't understand what he's talkin about most of the time lol

Where do you guys start lookin for pigeons? I've only ever come across one pigeon so far in my many hours of gameplay and that was by complete accident. I fell down where I didn't want to go and what do I see but a pigeon sitting on the ledge right behind me lol.

Don't remember how many hours exactly I'm in but I've done pretty much most of the character missions so far and am up to the center island right now.

You know what would've been funny, if Rockstar wasn't going for realism this time, would've been if after you climb up to the top of the tower, you see a door and walk in and there's all of these lit up instrument panels and other humans in suspended animation tubes filled with liquid.

You know, do a sort of nod to Men In Black by making you think these towers are MORE than JUST TOWERS, but I guess they scrapped those sort of things for 'realism'.

BTW, has anyone else noticed a bright white light that darts across the sky at night. It seems like the same kind of light that I could never catch up to in San Andreas, even in the jump jet.

I can understand Jacob, I speak Rastafarian ;O

I have only seen about 3-4 pigeons throughout my whole journey in LC. I saw one by Brucie's spot, gotta go back for that one. But yea, I'm amazed there are 200 pigeons in the city, it suggests there are a lot more places on the islands than meets the eye >;(

Do what I did in VC and SA to find hidden packages hidden off the ground, grab a helicopter and fly around till you find them. Try to find the pigeons at night though, since they have a reddish glow around them, making them easier to spot.

Hahaha. I just found a street musician and it said to press L1 to give him some money, so I did and Niko just tossed it on the ground. Then I picked up the stack of bills and threw it at the musician again and he ran away screaming.

Also, weird. I played darts with Packie, did a few missions, then started a mission for Gerry. While I was in the house, the TV had the scoreboard from my game with Packie on the screen. I'm guessing that must be some freaked out texture glitch?

Man, after I beat this game, I'm so bored with it. I remember being addicted to playing missions and would be playing 8 in a row just to get to the end. Now, that it's ended it feels so empty. It's like going from an ultimate high to a really boring low. Too bad they don't have downloadable missions.

I hate to say it, but I kinda agree. At least for the SP anyway, there just isn't enough to do after the main story is over. Thats why I play it mostly online now that I beat the main story, I mean nothing is more fun then free roaming with a friend and him trying to kill you with an RPG as your trying to shoot him with the annihilator helicopter. ;)

Edit: Might want to update the title there OP...

Got milk? No! Know who does have milk? Pedestrians, baby, pedestrians!

So whatcha wanna do about it? Take their milk, right?! What's that? You say you can't?! Well why the fuck not?!?

I mean, you're the Alpha Male. You're walking around and you see Mary fucking Poppins strutting down the street with a bag full of groceries and milk in one arm. All ya gotta do is walk up to that bitch, shoot her full of lead, and - BAM!! You've got yourself a gallon of milk, Niko Baby! And all you gotta do is reach down and -

O.M.G.!!!

You can't pick up the milk?! WTH?!? I thought you were Alpha, Baby! Just keep hitting those weights, and maybe someday you can be Superior, like Me! *Smack!* Look at that butt! ROCK HARD! Come on, man, feel it! You know you want to!!

Just keep hitting that gym and you'll get that milk, Nickyboy. Be Superior! Be Alpha!

-Brucie

P.S. If you need a place to shower after you go to the gym, I've got a 6 headed shower with a 300 gallon drum water heater. It's big enough for us both! . . . Don't get me wrong, I love the ladies, and the LADIES love BRUCIE! I had two chicks last night! THREE TIMES!!! I'm just sayin' man, . . . if you ever wanna, I'm down! YEAH!!!

BE SUPERIOR!!!
Wow, I can't believe people are complaining this game is too difficult. So far its been the most forgiving difficulty of any GTA game I've played and I', about 2/3 of the way through the main storyline.
Yeah they made the game a lot easier. THANK GOD you don't have to do ambulance missions. OMFG. Those were so hard in the previous games, especially GTA 3 when the mafia shotties your ambulance and blows you up. You also don't have to do everything consecutively which makes things a lot easier.

SHEESH. I was planning to go to bed 20 minutes ago but I always smash up whatever I'm driving before I turn GTA off for the night, and for some reason this Comet was giving me some trouble:

2w6f3n8.jpg

I spent the entire time driving this thing at full speed up and down the street and into walls to get it into this shape. It's barely even smoking and it still drives pretty well. Maybe a weird invincible car glitch? I had a helicopter parked outside the Alderney safehouse, but now I've replaced it with this Comet to see if it's still indestructible tomorrow.

What are the best cars? I am 25% through the game, and so far the Banshee, and Turismo seem to be the best. Is there a better car to look forward to?

The Infernus is one of my favorite cars. It is very hard to get out in the open, but you can get one by finishing all of Bernie's missions.

IMO:

Turismo, Infernus, Comet, Corquette, Super GT, FBI Buffalo.

Hey guys, I don't know of there is still anyone here having issues with this game but if you are call Sony and have them replace yours. I can confirm they will do it with you have freezing problems at the start of GTA (make sure to mention that) even if out of warranty.

You do realize the engine is in the BACK right? Lol thats why you can smash it to hell running head on into things and still have it drive ok. ;)

That's why you did those missions long before the mob hated you on the first island in GTAIII, since it was near impossible to do it after they despised you.

So I walk out of the second safe house in the ghetto where the street preacher always hangs out and I see this cop whip out his gun and tell this dude to stop.

The guy complies with the officer's order rather than take off running so I decide to hang out for a second and see what happens.

As he has him at gunpoint the cop says "This is an awful lot of credit cards for you to be carrying."

At that point I said fuck it and smacked the cop upside the back of the head with a baseball bat.

The guy who WAS at gunpoint said "Thanks!" then proceeded to run away.

I just thought it was cool that he said thanks. He might have been a mugger, but at least he had manners. I've been known to set people on fire for being rude.

LOL My one buddy saw the cop chasing the street preacher and just stood there watching it too. I popped him once myself(the preacher), but he keeps coming back.

:applause:

I need to play more, and walk the streets more, to see cool stuff like this.

Awesome stunts, the motor cycle ones really impressed me, as well as when he jumped the car onto that area with all them boxes.

That was my mistake. I didn't know they did that until a ton of missions after the fact. It is impossible. I tried for hours on end in that part of the city and you just can't do it. The mob fucks you up.

Damn I'm hating this mission I'm doing for Elizabeta, the one where you have to get her coke back from the Old Hospital. It's really annoying. I've died four times already. I can't seem to get away from the cops.

That mission is a royal pain in the ass. A couple of things to definitely do when trying to complete it. On the first part, use the sniper rifle to pick off some of the enemies from far away. Next, there's a ladder along the LEFT side of the building, which allows you to get up above many of your enemies IN the building.

Easiest way to eliminate many of them is with headshots OR shooting out the propane canisters lying around.

Oh and it definitely helps to either take a Securicar or a really FAST and stable car to the hospital.

Or....if you're feeling particularly adventurous, take a boat there.

Just wait till you get to Three Leaf Clover, that'll make this mission look like nothing by comparison.

I don't have a problem killing the guys in the building. It's just the getting away part that is a pain in the ass. I have the guide and it says to jump in the water and drive off in a boat, yet I can't find the damn thing! lol. Right now I'm doing missions for other people but later tonight I'm going to go back at it.

If you
enter the hospital by climbing the ladder in back, take out a few dudes, grab the package, and bolt towards the front of the hospital...just run out the front door and go immediately to your right and jump over the wall and into the water.
You should only be a few feet away from the docked speedboat.

Ok cool. Thanks. I had just jumped in the water and swam aimlessly looking for the boat until I got picked off.

I did it the friggin' hard way then, even though I have the guide I didn't wanna spoil anything for myself, so I tried doing it by driving off through a hail of police and SWAT team gunfire, then gunning it in a car up and down the side roads until I lost the wanted level.

Apparently, I did it the MUCH harder way. LOL But, that's the cool thing about the GTA games, they may have made it so you do it a specific way and it's NOT that hard, but you can always veer off from that and do it your own way.

That's how I tried it, except I had 6 cop cars on my ass and couldn't shake them. I was trying to get to a PNS but those cops wouldn't get off me.

Pay N Spray doesn't work to get rid of the wanted level anymore though or so I was told. I know when I had a 4 star level from going into the airport and driving up one of the runways, I got an instant 4 or so star wanted level and I mapped my route to a pay n spray. Once I got there, it said to 'lose your wanted level'.

Well I beat the mission. I got into the speed boat and lost my wanted level.

I was just playing the mission where you have to save Roman from the factory. I had gotten to the 3rd floor and was shooting this guy when apparently I hit a barrel and died. Total bullshit.

Oh man, I loved that mission. I liked it when Niko started yelling stuff out while I'm takin' out the baddies. It was kinda funny, the last guy that's with Roman started talking smack and I popped him in the head while he was talkin, then he just falls to the ground level; vengeance!!!

Besides those small red/orange colored propane canisters, you have to look out for the orange/red colored big metal barrels. I learned that firsthand during the Snow Storm mission. I had an enemy hit one with a stray bullet while I was going towards the doorway and BOOM, I got blown back about 15 feet into the wall and died.

Just spent a few hours finishing the game and getting both endings.
They both felt sort of like getting punched in the face.

lol someone in the main game said you have nothing to buy.

That is done real well in San Andreas (which I'm playing now) - you feel broke for half the game which really makes it fun when you start earning coin

So this game only runs at 720p on my tv yet the back of the box says 1080p. I got MGS4 to run in 1080p so it's no my tv.:bouncy:

This is a repost from my other thread which was closed:

I recently completed the mission pest control which seems to be near the end of grand theft auto 4. Since then I have not received the phone call that is supposed to start the next mission. After several hours (real time not game time), calling everyone on Nico's phone and doing all side missions left, I am still stuck and unable to continue the story. After looking online I found out that this is likely a bug caused by the auto save and there is likely no solution. Since I was using the auto save I don't have any backup saves and was only able to find saves online for the bank mission and the very end. If anyone has a saved game closer to the pest control mission or any advice on how to get past this bug I could use your help.

Do you still need help with this? I have a save right after pest control that I could upload for you.
