That's one reason I left gtaforums.com. That place was being flooded with assholes and no shortage of people who were unwilling to post spoilers, fake spoilers and pictures of their deformed wangs.

So I'm doing the forum equivalent of anxious pacing here instead.

I'm so positive that's exactly what'll happen to me that I'm considering picking up an Elite at the midnight launch.

And as much as I'd like to fight the power by not buying a second console, I think it'll be impossible for me to wait. Hopefully it won't be an issue, but I feel like my luck has almost run out--two years with absolutely no problems.
 
Wow they removed that video pretty quick. I wonder what the reason is that they don't want gameplay videos shown... especially if everyone thinks they look great.

If you're getting it from Gamestop, you can always use the thing for two weeks and then return it before the 15 or 30 days are up - whatever the case.

Considering Gamestop has a reputation for shrinkwrapping used games and selling them as new, seems like you'd just be operating within their own parameters.

I'm actually taking a 'personal day'. I haven't explained why, and my work situation is one where I don't have to.

I was considering cancelling my order and picking it up when I get back since I'm leaving for the summer. I'd only have 6 days or so to play around with it, but damn. What to do, what to do? 6 days of GTAIV or hold off and pick it up a few months later?

Nice. Unfortunately, I don't have enough personal days/vacation days left to be able to do this.

If not, wait a few months. It sucks starting a game, then going back to it several months later without remember WTF had happened in the story.

I was thinking of using some holiday time for Wednesday. Though if I did my co-workers would know I was just doing that for GTA IV and would be spamming me with :roll:.

I don't get much time to play anyway. It's just everyone here's gonna be jumping on with their "OMG!!!! This is the greatest game ever!" posts.

You do have a great point, though. I used a $50 GC on Amazon to order it and I'll probably use that instead on a new camera since I'll use that more over the summer. I'm gonna have to skip out on forums and reviews on this then. It's gonna be tough.

Solution: get the game, have a little fun with the single player to figure out the controls, get over the amazingness of it. Don't bother doing any missions, just play around with the environment.

Then go straight to multiplayer for the remaining days.

When you come back, you'll have gotten to experience it, and the missions and storyline will still be fresh.

Whatever you do, don't rush through a GTA!

I don't, either .. In the negative, actually .. I really am thankful for my managers. Thanks for giving me a daily dose of perspective.
 
This is one of my gragitation presents now. I absolutely cannot wait for this. I just wish I didn't have another semester....or I guess that's a good thing. I'll have more time to play than I would working.

I think he bailed out. I know if you get into a big crash Niko will fly through the windshield ala Saints Row. Is it me or did the SUV seem really floaty? Everytime he hit a bump the car wanted to fly away. Too bad they didn't put a Speedometer or a gas tank meter in the game for a more realistic feel :(

Ok for these next 6 days I am going to try and not watch another game play Video. It's going to be very hard but im sure I can distract myself from it :D

Also that other grainy game play video looked nice as well. I watched like 30 secs of it and the gun play/ shooting looked very nice :D

It's tought to tell for 2 reasons:
1) The angle of the camera/TV that it was shot at.
2) The player is making a lot of small corrections, I don't think he drove straight for more than about 2 seconds.

I agree about the SUV flying through the air a lot, but I think that's part of GTA's exaggerated physics model.

I could see that but they made GTA with realism in mind. They did a great job on the weight distribution on the vehicles ( from what I got from the game play ).
I just thought it was weird that the SUV had the "DoDo" Cheat going on ;)

That's pretty cool. I'm a bundle of angst over which version to get...I've got a 360 Special Edition pre-ordered primarily because I want that DLC this fall. I like my PSN friends more, though...for the sake of online-play, I'd rather have the PS3 version. Argh!

I'm off all next week! I've actually got a show in NYC on Wednesday and another in Philly on Friday, so I'm not taking the time off just to play GTA. But there will be a fair amount of that going on!

This is the only game for which I would be so hopelessly extravagant.
 
CAG, you decide - :360: special edition or regular? I've got the store credit for both, and have spent maybe $30 real money to get it.

It's ridiculous and wasteful, but the thought has certainly occurred to me. I've been trying to unload my PS2 Rock Band setup on Craigslist thinking that I could funnel the cash into buying the PS3 GTAIV (in addition to my 360 SE), but I haven't gotten any takers.

EDIT: Anyone know what the trade-in value might be at GS?
