I got one of those. It's pretty useless. The pictures are nice and it has a list of the achievements but it doesn't really seem to be good for anything.
My favorite weapon so far has to be the M14, as strong as the SCAR-H, as accurate as SCAR-H, but faster rate of fire.
Mine is the A556 rifle, or the A556 SAW. Depending on the map. It seems like everyone plays with the 36k, or the one sniper rifle that can shoot through walls.

goddamn, the netcode in GRAW2 is just as horrid as GRAW1. voice chat will suddenly just stop working and finding games is a pain..
I mean how hard would it have been to make a filter to look for games in Setup.... fucking ubisoft.

Anybody know if the achievement for beating an act on low risk is unlocked when a player beats it on guarded or elevated risk? Or do you have to go through the game 3 separate times to get all the achievements? I just got this game and damn, is it sweet!

Yes. If you beat a higher difficulty, you'll also unlock the achievements for the lower ones. Playing the game on the hardest difficulty is the way to go.

Thanks for the info!

the Free map is nowhere from GRAW. When going to the main menu in the game, it will give you an option at the very bottom. It is called Free map or downloadable content or whatever. Click on that and I think it wants your e-mail and you are good to go. I remember it being painless.

Do any CAGs still play this game?
I've started to play a lot more recently.

I have one more co-op mission to go (Outpost) and I've been messing around in Team Elimination matches.

I still play this an a constant basis. Feel free to add me. I usually only play on the weekends though but I play a pretty good amount on the weekends. PM me for my gamertag.

Played the demo for GRAW 1 and 2...found GRAW 2 to have much smoother controls, although gameplay was fun in both. Just wondering, is it necessary or should I bother buying GRAW 1 if I get GRAW 2?

Even though it's a sequel...do the stories continue off of each other in a way that the 2nd game is hard to understand?

Anyone? XD
Anyone? XD
I haven't beaten the first and I played a little of the 2nd, even though it takes place in the same timeframe/area, doesn't seem like its a continuation of a bigger story. Just seems like its a different mission altogether than the first.

GRAW:
In Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 3, players will embody Captain Scott Mitchell as he commands the Ghosts and Special Forces allies equipped with the IWS (Integrated Warfighter System) in the quest to save the president of the United States, recover stolen nuclear codes and eliminate a vicious band of renegade soldiers hell-bent on unleashing catastrophe. The game unfolds entirely in Mexico City, where numerous, meticulously researched and detailed environments will deliver complete immersion into the future of urban warfare.

GRAW2:
e Ghosts are back! It’s 2014, and the soldier of the future returns to encounter a new and more imminent threat along the recently completed wall on the U.S./Mexico border. The Ghosts are more powerful with an upgraded Integrated Warfighter System (IWS) but will have only 72 hours to assess the threat and stop the rebels from reaching US soil. With a border that’s 1,900 miles long and an enemy that doesn’t play by the rules, this is a job for the U.S. military’s most elite fighting unit. This is a job for the Ghosts.

In short, I'd say go for 2 if you don't feel like playing one first. Otherwise buy the first one now since its cheaper, then when youre done, maybe part 2 will be cheaper and its a win win.
has anyone gotten the "Enforcer" achievement?

is the only way to get it spawn camping and or launchers?
Don't worry about it, that achievement's glitched anyways. Play enough sharpshooter and you should get it eventually. I got it randomly after killing two or three guys within 10 seconds.

Alright I'll just get GRAW2 then. I liked the demos controls more and the online was great...I won't even bother getting GRAW1 unless I find it for 15$ or less new CDN someday. Last two games I need now are CoD3 and Lost Planet for 360 after I get this, then I have everything I'm interested in buying :D
Don't worry about it, that achievement's glitched anyways. Play enough sharpshooter and you should get it eventually. I got it randomly after killing two or three guys within 10 seconds.
Thanks. I guess I'll just keep playing Sharpshooter/Solo Elimination. I've been trying to get the Solo Veteran achivement (I need 3 more wins), but out of all the games I've led the host has aborted the game. Really lame.

Also Spades22, definitely just get 2. Everything is better in the sequel and I do prefer the multiplayer in the 2nd game. If I remember right the 2nd game takes place a couple hours or so after the first one. The references to the first game only happen during small (opening) portions of Act 1 and are really never mentioned again. You are safe getting GRAW2.

Dang well I got this game and the multiplayer is a blast! Mmm actually beats R6 and Lost Planet for me in terms of the fun factor, and in about 80% of servers theres no lag at all. (unlike the 10% lag-free lost planet servers). The maps are extremely well made so players of any playing style can get into their rhythm and rack up the kills if they figure out the layout of the map. At first I wasnt doing too well, but once I started figuring out the maps and good weapons I started doing great!

I went 17-1 at one point in the Embassy map...figured out a pathway there that racks up kills like mad. Also that River map I finally figured out...and almost have headquarters down. Greattt game...multiplayers too good to bother to start the singleplayer xD

Which rifles do you guys use if you play as a Rifleman? Maybe I can compare and see if the ones I picked are similar xD

Is there a way to turn off the diamonds on the HUD? They let you do it in GRAW, but I haven't been able to find a button press combo that does it in 2.

RX4 Storm SD. It's the only one I use as a Rifeman. I know that the MR-C is rather popular in online play, but I never got the hang of it.

I'm getting annoyed with trying to get the "Solo Veteran" achievement. I either run into people who drop out mid-game if they are behind, or people who try to run 16 player rooms. (which then lag out 3-5 people once the game starts)

lol havent really done any solo matches, except one which I got 3rd on out of 16 players xD. I've been using the FAMAS, SA-80, and SCARLCHQ or something. I like the famas cause it seems to shoot fast for close up fights, the SA-80 has good scope and seems pretty accurate, and the SCAR is compressed and is good for sneaking in close combat. I'll have to try the Rx4 storm though xD

the only gripe I have with the RX4 Storm SD is a small clip. though I rarely hinders me in online matches, there are certain times I wish the clip was a little bigger

I love the accuracy the RX4 gives as well as the option of a 2X scope. it tends to work well if you fire in short bursts.

on another note, finally got the "Solo Veteran" achievement. now I can ignore Solo Matches completely and enjoy the Team Sharpshooter matches.

nice xD. Ya you know the two time click is handy at times...but one thing I hate about it is always pressing in the right analog stick. I HATE zooming in this way...I find a button is way faster, like in Halo where you can use the green thumb option. Is there a way to change the button that zoom is on, cause I couldnt find it in the options.
Is there a way to change the button that zoom is on, cause I couldnt find it in the options.
I haven't seen an option to change the zoom control. Don't know if there is one, but I could be wrong, who knows.

I don't mind the right analog stick being zoom, I got used to it really quick. It's a whole lot more convenient compared to say the zoom control on Perfect Dark Zero (pressure sensitive).

Ya I can kinda get used to it...but like I said it just seems slower than a button...BUT ALSO it always seems like that "button" is going to break since I've never really used it for gaming much lol
Throwback map pack is now free! I guess we'll see the remaining PS3 maps pretty soon!
Nice! I didn't know that PS3 was getting more maps.

The remaining seven maps are basically a Throwback Map Pack 2:

Boneyard (GRAW)

Rocky Cove (GRAW)

River Depot (GRAW)

Ghost Village (GR2 Summit Strike)

Goverment District (GR 2 Summit Stirke)

Bunkers (GR2 Summit Strike)

Aral Sea (GR2 Summit Strike)

GRAW 2 Throwback Map Pack 2 is out(includes new game mode):

Content: GRAW 2 Throwback Pack 2
Price: Free
Availability: Not available in Japan
Dash Text: [ESRB: T (Teen) BLOOD,LANGUAGE,VIOLENCE] GRAW2 Throwback Pack 2 consists of 7 classic maps from Ghost Recon’s illustrious history. In addition to the 7 maps, there is a new game mode called Co-op Exfiltration. All of these maps have upgraded visuals and support all of GRAW2’s thousands of customizable game modes.
Size: 582.51 MB

Here's an explanation of the new co-op mode from a RS lead designer:

Exfiltration is a coop mode that plays out like a series of rescue missions. There are two preset game types, Evasion and POW. In Evasion, you start with an allied officer near your insertion and your team has to lead him through enemy patrols and vehicles to a designated helicopter extraction point. In POW, there are three officers that start in the captivity of enemy forces. You have to eliminate the guards, then lead the prisoners out of the area. The trick to POW is that once the guards are attacked, they could decide to eliminate the prisoners. This leads to some cool scenarios where players have to move into position without being detected, then coordinate a simultaneous attack on the guards around a prisoner to ensure success.

As with all other game modes, Exfiltration works across all maps and has customization options (number of allies, enemy difficulty, etc.). This is definitely a cool addition to our coop modes as it adds something more along the lines of a full mission, except compatible across all maps.

Is the GRAW2 demo indicative of retail game?

I keep getting pwned like a bitch over and over again on "campaign" mode.

Finally with my friend on coop we managed to clear the first terroist village thing, then died promptly upon reaching the second one.

"Co-Op Collection" DLC is coming late October/early November:

Due to hit the gaming LZ in the next few weeks, the Co-Op Collection offers up no less then five brand new co-op campaign missions, which duly pick up the narrative thread of Advanced Warfighter 2. Beyond the involving co-op action, the Collection boasts an impressive nine adversarial online maps, with seven of these arriving as fresh interpretations of classic G.R.A.W. maps. And, finally, the upcoming Marketplace download will also delivers an extra nine 360 Achievements – for a total of 125 Gamerpoints.

The specifics of the refreshed adversarial missions will see online players doling out the hot lead and searing shrapnel across the likes of: Battlefield, Castle, Caves, and Railroad Bridge, from the original Ghost Recon; while Plantation, Prison, and Swamp Airfield arrive from Ghost Recon: Island Thunder. A further two brand new maps called Business Park and Rooftops round out the multiplayer package.

The full list of Achievements is as follows:

Caves (Co-op) Perfect - 15 points

In a match, get a grenade kill while you are incapacitated or dead. Minimum 5 players.

Kickin’ it old school - 15 points
Complete a Co-op Mission without respawning, hard difficulty, and the Drone off.

No, I think it's the opposite actually. Only time it should be free from MS's perspective is when they didn't pony the complete 1000GS at launch, like with Crackdown.

Better late then never I guess....Its up for 800pts and there's a free weapons pack:

OVERVIEW: The GRAW 2 Co-op Collection consists of five Co-op Campaign missions that continue the story from GRAW 2. In total there are nine maps, seven of which are inspired by classic maps from Ghost Recon’s illustrious history and two that are totally brand new. All nine maps (including adversarial versions of the Co-op Campaign maps) have exquisite visuals and support all of GRAW 2’s thousands of customizable game modes. ACHIEVEMENTS: The Co-op Collection offers nine new achievements for GRAW 2, totaling 125 achievement points.

CO-OP MAPS
New Co-op Campaign – Story: Manuel Suazo Azcona has emerged as the leader of a new rebel movement in El Salvador. Azcona’s plan seems to be an attempt to destabilize the governments of both El Salvador and neighboring Honduras. Once their respective governments are weakened, he will incite the people to try and overthrow both countries’ U.S.-backed leaders. The Ghosts are being sent in to quell this uprising before it starts. They must first stop the rebel incursions over the two nations’ shared border and then hunt down the rebel leaders one by one. If they fail, America’s efforts in the region could be set back by decades.

Caves – (Ghost Recon®)
Azcona’s squads are using the nearby caves as an operational base for raiding army convoys across the river. Detain and extract the rebel leader and recon the area for any hidden weapon caches.

Railroad Bridge – (Ghost Recon)
Intel reports the rebels are moving on a command post 60 clicks southeast of here. Protect the command post, recon the local rail line and hunt down the informant providing intel to the rebels.

Battlefield – (Ghost Recon)
The last rebel unit in the area is holed up in the village of Venta. An allied armor unit on the edge of town is pinned down by artillery. Ghosts, knock out the enemy comm transmitter, then escort the armor through the village.

Plantation – (Ghost Recon®: Island Thunder®)
Intel shows a rebel leader’s motorcade is moving through the farms south of here. Take out his convoy and destroy all of the surrounding ADATS before Sabre Seven arrives for extraction.

Swamp Airfield – (Ghost Recon: Island Thunder)
Azcona’s rebels have occupied a small island airfield. Recon the area for intel on this operation and destroy all aircraft to prevent any means of escape. The landing strip is targeted for an air strike so get out ASAP.

So yea I just got the last achievement to total 1125, but the problem is that when you unlock these they do not add to your gamerscore and are only visible when you are looking at your games. I'm sure they are working on it, but it does kind of suck.
The coop levels are a lot of fun as they were when the game first came out. I'll have to play a bit more to get a decent idea of the "new" maps as well, but so far I'm really liking the DLC. Is it worth 800 points after being used to COD4? For me it is, but I really like GRAW so I recommend that only people that really liked this game a lot get this because COD4 will give you a lot better times than GRAW 2 can with this DLC.

Do you guys thing it would be worth starting a CAG night for the DLC of GRAW2? Sounds like the DLC has a bunch of stuff included and could be worth a night of the week. At least until the new RB6 or Clancy title come along.

I think its time to sell my copy and pick it up again later...
It appears the sequel to 2006’s very successful Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter still has some juice left, despite being available at retail since March 2007. Well, at least Ubisoft thinks so. Coming to store shelves next month is GRAW 2 Legacy Edition, a beefed up re-release of the GRAW follow-up (think Oblivion: Game of the Year Edition).
GRAW 2 Legacy Edition will include everything the original did, plus an additional disk packed to the brim with all the GRAW 2 downloadable content released so far. The best bit is that it will retail for $29.99; that’s right, half the price of the original!
 • 32 additional maps, a combination of new maps and best of maps!
 • New exciting game modes and a large variety of exclusive ground-breaking missions
 • Exclusive additional weapons that enrich the tactical possibilities in Single Player

I've been having a real hard time finding info about splitscreen co-op in this game. Can you play through the whole single player campaign in co-op? I've heard that you are limited to first-person view when in splitscreen co-op. Is that true? What about the first GRAW?
