Sen'Sey sucks in so many ways.

- If you don't complete the game in 1 sitting, your extra lives are deleted when you pick it up again.
- The music in the early levels is a bad take on old action games, so even the slow-paced areas have you rockin' hard. How 'bout some shamisen?
- I haven't figured out a reason to use basic attacks. The player can spam ground-pounds without ramifications.
Ugh....so much to look forward to. Luckily, La Mulana was my goal so $1.50 for that isn't bad even if Millenium sucks.

Ah, oh well. It just prompted me to get off my duff and make the transaction. Probably would have forgotten if I waited in the midst of Valve madness.
I want this but I want them to hit Steam first. It'd hold much more value if it did.
But that's kind of the point of the bundle. They can't get on Steam without the exposure. It's a viscous cycle.

Anyway La Mulana and Salvation Prophecy are highly likely to get Greenlight within the next few months or so.

Ok, I guess I can give it a shot.

La Mulana is supposedly at 100% unlock but not showing on my account list yet.
From the chat, it's an obscure "pun" on the developer's name and the fact that it's a retro title:

Jonny Cappuccino 12:27 AM
name NIGORO in Japanese can actually be linked to numbers NI(2) GO (5) RO(6) with 8 representing their 8-bit origins

Oh they do like to have fun over at groupies, don't they?

Well that's disappointing. Sen'Sey was probably my most wanted game in this bundle.

On a different subject, does anybody know if any of these games come with DRM-Free copies?

There are direct downloads for them all yes and the Groupees page says they are all DRM free.

You might as well register them all on Desura though because you can always just straight download them from Desura.com without the client and that way you have a backup site in case Groupees is down at some point.
The account page now says: "Nigoro LA-MULANA (Desura key coming soon)"
*whew* I was starting to get nervous that I might have to have a conversation with some people again. ;)

Aldorlea really needs to put a video up on their Greenlight page for Millennium. They're mercilessly getting ass rippings left and right from the TITS VIDS OR GTFO crowd and they've already got an uphill battle from the 'OMG THIS SUX CUZ ITS RPGMAKER! DOWNVOTED!' crowd.

I can't really blame the crowd. First, I always like to see trailers with actual gameplay footage (my sole reason for occasionally youtubing a "let's play"). Second, with so many indie devs trying to monetize games that are in alpha, it makes even more sense to see actual evidence of a product.

In their case though the game is available for sale a bunch of places elsewhere and has for some time now. Plus, it's RPG maker. I mean really do people need to see the gameplay for that? The game rests more on the story than anything. Not like To the Moon won all that acclaim for the visuals.

Maybe I just don't get it as much because I am super snap decision ADD type with Greenlight and I just look at the pictures and skim the description and make a quick decision. There's just way too much stuff on Greenlight to spend too much time mulling over one game. For me anyway.

And Youtube in general for me is TL;DW. Whenever people forward me one I'm like 'Ugh, can't you just tell me what it says?'. I just don't have the patience.

I think part of that is that so many people are so GOD AWFUL at making Youtube videos and take forever to get to the damned point with a bunch of umms and ahhs and useless commentary and mouse wiggling etc.

That and I have no damned attention span anymore but having 1,000 or so games will do that to you. :p

I just looked at the games that you favorited an choose the best looking amongst them. I let you do all the work. Well, you, Woodlands, Flowette & Draekon. You four are the only people on my friends list who bothered to go though and vote on greenlight. I wouldn't have bothered either, but you fine lads narrowed the field for me.

What!? You haven't voted on every game currently on Greenlight? :whistle2:o

I kind of felt like I wanted to go through them all but I know like 99.9% of people don't. It seems like most people just get to a Greenlight page through some other means of promotion that brings it to their attention rather than looking at Greenlight for Greenlight's sake.

I really think Valve could do a better job of trying to move butts over to there. Maybe they could gameify with achievements or something. I don't know, just something. Right now the onus is completely on the developer to promote.

I mean I think the developers should make an effort, but I also feel like it would be better if there were regular traffic there and voting was viewed as a good thing to do and maybe even it could be made fun.

It is kind of a chore though in its current form. Even if you give each game less than 30 seconds there's tons and it takes a LONG time and is tedious as hell.

TL;DR - I rated a ton of games on Greenlight, it takes forever and is a chore. Valve could work on that.

Myself, kinda do it out of habit now. Every time I go to Steam on the web, I check out my next queue of Greenlight games and do some votin'. Just upvoted DreadOut among others cause it looks kinda creepy/cool.

Imo, one major problem with greenlight is the lack of structure -- less than your average flea market. *If* Valve cared, they could structure and incentivize it, e.g. every day give people one thumbs-up to use on a rotating list of 2/3/5 games voting enters you in a raffle for tomorrow's daily (which would be unknown during the voting period).

This is what I do too. I like adventure games so I focus more on this category once I have looked at my general queue.

I think I am more creeped out by the Uncanny Valley than any horror aspects of that game.

Groupees added an "extended demo" (a demo with a lot of content) for Driftmoon to the bundle as part of their Indie Spotlight program. This means the developer isn't getting paid for it but putting their game in for promotion so there won't be a full version with keys. (It is on Desura in alpha/beta status with full release soon by the way)

I know it's a bit of a disappointment to not get a full version of a game but I will personally recommend this game. I actually bought it some time ago when it was early alpha. It's described as an adventure RPG but it's neither point and clicky nor grindy.

To me Driftmoon is really reminiscent of Ultima 7 which is one of my very favorite games of all time. It's basically about exploration and interacting with various colorful characters. It's done in a top down view which is a bit of a throwback because while unusual now, that used to be very, very common for many classic games.

At any rate, if you want to check it out the extended demo is posted as a download on Groupees. If you like it or want to read up more on Driftmoon the Greenlight page is here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=93040120

It's a great game in my opinion that unfortunately has not been getting much attention on Greenlight. The couple that are developing it are very cool and quite open to feedback which is always nice.
So when do we find out if any of this gets greenlit?
When it gets greenlit. It's not an instantaneous process. No one knows when. Ask Valve.

By the way there's a sale on now where you can buy just one game for 75 cents so if anyone was waiting on that go for it. That lasts until December 26.

La Mulana looks great, but it doesn't work for me. :( Running Windows 7 64-bit, and it crashes right after the map screen (which is right after the title screen), before any gameplay occurs.

Does anyone know of a solution for this? I'm going to try and contact the developers if not.

edit: E-mailed 'em.

It's running fine here on Win 8 64 so I can't see why it wouldn't on Win 7.

Did you try running in Windows XP Compatibility mode?

Also I activated and download my copy from Desura, if that makes any difference.

Which of these non-bonus games seem to be the most likely to get greenlit? I was gonna gift a few games to a friend of mine, but realistically, I'm not sure how much he would play them if they're not on steam.

Supposedly, Salvation Prophecy. The dev has been in Groupees chat and claimed his game was currently ranked in the 20s somewhere.

Of course I don't know about the others at all, they could be ranked #1 for all I know but I kind of doubt it.

After re-watching the bundle games videos, I'd have to agree with Salvation Prophecy as the most likely. If I were handicapping them, I'd have to say that Wooden Sen'Sey & Oozi: Earth Adventure seem to be possibilities too. Millennium or Private Infiltrator seem to be the least likely.

This opinion is based entirely on the strength of the greenlight page videos & overall presentation. I haven't actually played any of the games myself yet. M_F_A_H said that he hated Wooden Sen'Sey, so if it did get greenlit, it might be unjustified if what he said about it is true. But the video does make it look pretty cool.

I'd definitely agree with your comments about Salvation Prophecy, Wooden Sensey, Oozi, and Millennium. The first three at the ones that appeal most to me, are praised by the majority of people commenting on them, and have more widespread appeal. The other two have relatively narrow appeal, Millennium especially.

Millennium is niche-y but it's a niche I like, however not having a video up is Greenlight suicide. It's like they're not even trying. The game already has an uphill battle being RPG-maker based but combine that and no video and you are looking at probably one of the very last games on Greenlight that would make it in.

That being the case, I at least wanted to make darned sure we got Desura keys, though based on the past experience with Dreamscape I would not be shocked if it took a month or more, and that isn't Groupees fault.

Personally, I think Steam should just find some way to put up an RPG Maker basic engine without the creation tools and then let people post their games as DLC. I mean Railworks has a crap ton of DLC and most of it is actually made by 3rd parties.

Anyway, I noticed Groupees put up yet another bonus album. There's a ton of music in this thing now. Normally I don't pay much mind to the music but with so much in this bundle I'll at least try to give it all a quick listen.

If you didn't know, you can download the RPG Maker RTPs here for free. They allow you to play any RPG Maker XP/VX/VX Ace game, they just don't include the creation tools. Some downloadable RPG Maker games already include them (it's an option when you compress your game into an exe, but most don't because it makes the file bigger).

I have to wonder though, how many games has Aldorlea churned out? Seems like every time I blink there's a new bundle with a random Ardorlea game that I've never heard of thrown in. Makes one wonder what they could do if they took a bit more time on them...

Stoked to get some Helalyn Flowers, in any case. Used to listen to them, although to be honest I can't remember what they sound like. Gothic electro something or other.

Thanks for the suggestion, but no luck with Compatibility mode. :/ I'm using a Desura copy as well. Tried re-downloading it in Desura, but that didn't help, either. Still no response from the developers.. damn.
Wait, so they added a beta for a game that anyone can get, at any time, for free? What the hell kind of a half-ass bonus is that?
It's not the beta (which everyone has to pay for), and it's not the free demo of the beta, but an extended demo version of the beta.

From the Driftmoon developers:
http://www.instantkingdom.com/2012/12/build-a-greenlight-bundle/
Our friends at Groupees have put together a Build a Greenlight Bundle, featuring games that definitely deserve getting Greenlit on Steam. Today's special will be an extra special extended edition of the Driftmoon demo, which pretty much doubles the length of the demo. Currently the Groupees special is also the only way to see the game's full ending, before we release the final beta to our preorderers. We don't get a penny from the deal, but it's always nice that new people hear about Driftmoon.
Wait, so they added a beta for a game that anyone can get, at any time, for free? What the hell kind of a half-ass bonus is that?
Which one, Driftmoon? It their 'indie spotlight' to help promote the game. The developers aren't getting any money for it.

Probably not the best choice, especially to call it a bonus, because it may cause nerdrage backlash but honestly there's already a bunch of games cheap, plus you get La Mulana and Underrail with Desura keys and Steam keys if/when they get Greenlit no matter what, even if you spend 75 cents and get one game.

It's kind of hard to complain about 3 games for 75 cents. If they want to throw a demo in there to help an indie developer try and get some more attention, I'm fine with that.
A demo? Have to say, that is pretty lame, but considering how many bonuses this bundle has had, can't really complain.
Yeah I knew people here would say that. That's kind of why I went *sigh* when they did that. I know why they did it because they aren't getting paid and need the exposure.

It's a great little game that I really believe it and bought the alpha version early on and it has come long way. Also they went and allowed a lot more extra content in the Groupees demo.

But still, when all is said and done when you tell a bunch of cheapasses who are buying these bundies for pocket change that they get a non full version of a game as a "bonus" yeah they're not going to be happy.

Pretty much. I love Groupees though. I think I've only skipped one of their bundles (the Halloween one) since I've known about them. This is, to date, one of the best bundles they've put out, so it's really not a big deal to throw a demo in.

So they've done the demo thing again? They did that with the last bundle (with a game called Rico) and it was a pretty unpopular choice.

I don't have a problem with throwing a demo in (provided it isn't just the normal demo), but I don't like how it's a separate bonus tier - it should really be unlocked at the same time as an album or something else.

I thought Rico was an alpha not on Steam or Desura? I didn't think it was a demo.
