I heard this on GAF, and I hope this is a true deal, as this thing is OOS in most other places. Can anybody who works at GS confirm this deal, as the person from GAF said it's being clearanced. Also can somebody provide the SKU so I can located the deal around my area, as PSOne stuff are hard to find nowadays.

^ - Yeah, I was supposed to get to that one before going to work Monday.

Anyway, for all you SoCal CAG-ers, there's still one at the Anaheim branch. I called the GS at Brea Mall and they just ran out, but the dude was nice enough to run a search for me. Got one at the Anaheim Town Square branch, plus I spotted (and grabbed, lol) a mint Wavebird that was kinda hanging around there.

Score!

The last time I saw one of these was about two weeks ago during my weekly travels. It was still $79.99. I know the store I work at has NEVER had these. One of our employees bought one about two weeks ago- he paid $79.99 for it.

I wouldn't mind getting one if I could find one new for that price. It would be cool to play my PS RPG's on an actual Playstation console.

While these are a good deal, you could probably get a regular psone on the cheap and find a cheapy LCD for a poor man's version.

Don't get me wrong, if my GS had one I would have gotten it, but my GS never has anything good. They don't even have any Gamecube games anymore :(

I just hope any of the FW/SD hoarders get stuck with them and cant sell em. :)

Also I checked Ebay -- seems like that is where the ones from Everrett WA ended up :(

Too bad, I am still debating whether to buy one or not.

Finding cheap LCDs to make your own screen isn't as easy as it sounds. I've hacked apart 3 different portable DVD players without finding a way on any of them to carry another video signal. I even broke out an oscilliscope without any luck.

Yeah, sorry guys. I'm still kinda new when it comes to posting. Next time I'll remember to just send out PMs. I really hate people that buy up all of a single product just to re-sell it on eBay, I know it's stupid for us who don't care to profit on it, but it's the principles. I work in retail, and I can't tell you how pissed off I get when I sell a Wii system to a gentleman who claims he's already sold this on his eBay account, and when he leaves the store I get to hear a sad story of a mom with 3 kids who just want the system to play. It's the @$$holes like those eBayers that tick me off. I am glad that a few of you did get one for yourself though. :applause:
Edit: I love how sd members value these "rep" points. Its a neat idea, but those guys act like its actually worth a damn in their life....sick.
I agree 100% that rep points/green is lame. What I dont understand though is how some folks here whine and complaining about not getting credited in a post? Seems similar to me... its not like getting credited its worth any money or anything.
Anyhow, contrats again on getting one to those who did. No luck for me in socal.

Rep points and green are like achievements for the 360, don't really do anything but people get obsessed with having more then others. I dont get it

Wanted to add in I snagged 2 today. Its not hoarding, friend in Columbus couldn't get one and is driving up to Michigan next weekend to pay me back for getting one for him. I got a special magical disk to allow my PSone to do magic things and play imports.

Magical things are good, I'm thinking about the disk, but as of now I'm using a wad of paper and a smile to play my legit back up games.

Somewhat OT, but does anybody know where to get any cheap PSone memory cards? I wouldn't mind used ones, just that the nearby GSes are fresh out.

I got one from a seller on amazon for 7 shipped i think, you could always try pawn shops and smaller game stores.
Damn, this sounds awesome. If I find one should I buy it? How much are they worth?
I assume youre talking Ebay value.

It seems a sealed one would go for a nice value but ive seen a Buy it now auction for 70 as well. So Im not sure how much you could make right away. If youre looking for an investment. Buy it , keep it sealed for a few years it will go up.

However I suggest keeping it to play, its too cool for 30$

Just wanted to thank the OP for the deal and the legwork. I picked one up today at my store. They had a whole stack of them on the counter for display. The boxes were faded and color changed as if they had sat in sunlight for a long time, but what's inside seemed to hold up.

EDIT: I just noticed that the "OP" on SlickDeals has an anti-FatWallet name, much like the FatWallet data thief has an anti-CAG name. I get the quick impression that these accounts are the same guy, just with different usernames designed to endear him to the user base at each site. Assuming that is true, it's extra funny (or pathetic) that the dickwad took the time to thank his other self for originating the deal at FatWallet previously. If one assumes he carried that mindset with him over here, it's possible the data thief on this forum might have a username of ShaqFu_SlickDeals or something in that vein. Anyone see anyone running around here like that?

Cool, I think I will. Thanks. Also, does anyone know if the 10% off coupon works? Not much off, but every little bit counts.

Its because they act as if it was their work. Rewards (reps) and stealing are two different things here.

I fully agree with what you are saying. To me It sucks overall when the work of others here get pasted there seemingly out of spite and it is fine to be mad that they steal the info but it seems so many posts here always seem to complain about them not giving credit when credit isnt even the issue. They think its fine as long as the give credit which is in reality no different from their Rep points or what not.

well to be clear when i first posted here about the SD thread and why i was piss was NOT that the 30$ bundle deal was posted up there.
I mean deals travel through sites all the time, i dont care about that.
I was only mad about Tony's stock check post.
Because that was not in this Thread Opening post and it was only meant for the specific few members that gave their zip codes to be checked.
It was not a general thing.

The deal is just a deal and it us intended for everybody.
The zip code check was only for the members that requested it.
The stealfromcag guy can take all the deals he wants from this site and post it elsewhere all he wants, its fair game.
But going through the forum and taking specific posts for specific members and making it sound like his own was what is really infuriating.

So that was the only part that pissed me off.
The rest including the bitterness between SD/FW etc. i dont really care.

I thought Gamestop COMPLETELY destroyed all of the PS1/N64/Dreamcast stock and that included systems?

I just dumped off one of these that I bought from a local Kmart for $10 about 2 years or so ago for $14-15 last week to a local shop, whose workers put it in their case for $25. I even had the car adapter, which they gave me $5 or so for, which I paid $4 for when I bought it.

So, I made out and I got rid of some junk cluttering my closet up. If I had known it was THIS in demand, I would've waited and sold it here(but I had it on my TL for the longest time with a $40 shipped price or so and no bites).

The GS at Hilltop in VB, VA has one more LCD/PSone in stock. They also have a few new PSone console only for $19.99.

I think a few more GS/EB's in the VB area might have some behind closed doors.

Thanks CAG...I'm glad I saw this thread!

If your looking for games/controllers/memory cards, pawn shops are a great place to check...they have more then just guns and stolen watches. :)

Been looking in NY for a psone as i have a lot of games i want to play, but my ps2 won't play psx games anymore...isn't that weird? Anyone know how to fix that?
Been looking in NY for a psone as i have a lot of games i want to play, but my ps2 won't play psx games anymore...isn't that weird? Anyone know how to fix that?
That's an EASY problem to fix. Simply open the PS2 up, clean the laser and that SHOULD allow it to play the PS1 games again. If not, then the laser is probably too weak to read them and needs to be replaced, which is ALSO an EASY task.

Check the PS2 board for the repair thread, which is stickied, that should help you to fix it.

Or just give me a couple minutes to find the PM I sent to another CAG with PS2 read issues, which details cleaning it.

Not for everyone, some are probably like I was originally. I was afraid to open my systems out of fear of seriously screwing them up. But now, I can open a PS2 or Xbox and clean them in like 25-30 minutes AND even have them closed up by then.

I still keep saying I should open a stand at the local flea market advertising just that, but I fear being sued if I don't cross my t's and dot my i's by having them sign a release form.

yea .. dont fear it.

i open up my DS and PSP and strip them both to the bone ... replace parts and then put them all back into working order.
I never use tutorials alot either.
Not only its easy but fun as well.

I replaced a laser on a ps2 once as well.
Xbox .. i've opened it but didnt need to do anything further to it.

Just picked one of these up. I grabbed the last one. :D Guy said they had 3 of them sitting in the back for years, then as soon as the price dropped, they were gone. Now I need some games and a memory card.

There's a fix you can try that doesn't require you opening up the xbox...I'm even famous for it...my letter was posted in Gamepro TWICE about this....

you need to place two pieces of scotch tape on the top (label side - NOT THE DATA SIDE) of the ps1 disk on both sides of the hole, so that the center hold kind of makes it look like this IoI (the I are the pieces of tape, the o is the center hole). Place the tape as close to the center hole as possible. It also works on older PS2 blue backed disks as well (if your ps2 has trouble reading those)...try it and let me know if it works for you...

Success!
Thanks Sharingan Tony. I picked one up at the Midway location in St. Paul on Saturday. I checked at the MOA locations and the smaller store wouldn't do a store search, but a nice employee at the bigger Gamestop did a store search for me, and found one at Midway. It's alot of fun, and I've been going back and playing my Playstation library now.

What does the tape do? I will try it as soon as i can...

It's for added balance, and sometimes weight. It works remarkably better than one might think.

I think it just helps hold the disc more firmly to the spinner so it doesn't slip-spin.
Which lets it read the disc better especially for the old cd ones.

my ps2 slim plays all dvds and cd games fine so im glad.

Wow. I really wish my local Gamestops had one of these... I don't really need a PSOne, but I could sure use that small monitor so I could use it to hook up my systems next to my PC (so I can record videos.) Ah well. :(
