I heard this on GAF, and I hope this is a true deal, as this thing is OOS in most other places. Can anybody who works at GS confirm this deal, as the person from GAF said it's being clearanced. Also can somebody provide the SKU so I can located the deal around my area, as PSOne stuff are hard to find nowadays.

I'd love to be able to find one of these since my PSOne was stolen a good while ago

The LCD would more than make up for my lost time with it :p
There's a fix you can try that doesn't require you opening up the xbox...I'm even famous for it...my letter was posted in Gamepro TWICE about this....

you need to place two pieces of scotch tape on the top (label side - NOT THE DATA SIDE) of the ps1 disk on both sides of the hole, so that the center hold kind of makes it look like this IoI (the I are the pieces of tape, the o is the center hole). Place the tape as close to the center hole as possible. It also works on older PS2 blue backed disks as well (if your ps2 has trouble reading those)...try it and let me know if it works for you...
Cleaning the laser DEFINITELY WORKS ALOT BETTER than making all of your games that don't want to play otherwise(and possibly the INSIDE of your PS2) sticky by using tape on them just to get them to play and it lasts alot longer than the 'balancing' thing with the 'tape trick'.

However, one thing I definitely wouldn't do to a PS2 or XBox is raise the lasers height to get it to read discs again, since that can cause scratches on the games.

Actually it isn't a balancing thing...the problem wasn't with a dirty laser, it was with a dirty magnet/grip, the cd would not "catch" and wouldn't spin at the right speed to be read. You aren't making them sticky, you are providing additional width so they can be gripped.

See, but this is why opening the PS2 or whatever and cleaning those parts that won't grip is SO much better than slapping some tape on the discs. It also keeps the games from getting some ugly glue residue stuck forever on them when the next person to own them(if the original owner were to trade them as they are)tries to remove that long stuck on tape.

While I've known a few who have used the 'tape trick', I still find it to be wholly useless as long as you know how to clean your system and it's parts properly. It does work, but it makes the games look ugly. In some cases, it even picks up some of the grit/dust that's causing the read problems in the first place.

Got one of these as a gift back in the day.. Used to hook it up to my xbox to play halo during long car rides, lol.. good stuff

I believe the little adapter that got the xbox to plug into the monitor was like $3 at radioshack. The plug to get the Xbox to work in the car on the other hand... well, that was a different story.

I checked at my local GS and the guy told me its not even in the system so he couldnt look it up at other stores in the region. I checked on Ebay and it appears alot of people are trying to make some major bucks off these starting prices at 89-110. I just want one for my kids to be able to play

If anyone has seen any left in the NW (Puget Sound) area please let me know.

So it's not a balance issue, then? I've probably misunderstood the tape trick because I thought it had to do with discs problematically setting without a perfect balance to the laser. I can see how the grip issue comes into play, too, but I don't think I fully understand this solution. What is the additional width?

Thanks for the link a few pages back fellow CAGer for the PSOne car adapter. Wasn't there also a battery dock or something for this? I can't seem to find anything on Amazon, maybe I'm just blind. :/

You mean like this one? If anybody's got one that still lasts a few hours, I'll take it.

The tiny little extra bit of tape allows the disk to sit more securely as it spins and therefore there aren't any read errors.
90007 if you can. Thanks a million!
You know, it would be easier to just go to your local GS and ask the employee to do a store search.

Yeah, I did that and they said that they could get me one from a store. But I think I might pass for now, I am waiting for the new Gamestop coupon in 2 days.:D

Is there a site that shows just how it is supposed to look...i want to make sure i do it exactly right....

Picked one up at my local store, but there is a huge dead pixel right on the screen. GOING RIGHT BACK! Too bad too, I was loving the fact I could play right next to my computer.

It makes me sad to think of how they'll just put a hammer to that thing, especially when I'm looking for a PSone w/o LCD.

Could be worse than a dead pixel... one I got for my friend, entire screen didn't work. Employees weren't too happy refunding cash for a broken PSone.
