I've received a couple pm's from people wanting to contribute prices but don't want to get harassed about selling to someone or getting more at place x. If this is the case for anyone, you can pm me any values and I'll update them in the list and database.
Instructions on finding games in the database and inputting the values from different sections can be found in my blog post here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?b=14143. I would put the entire post in the thread but this is already kind of a large post.

FAQ
These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Here are the previous GS TIV Threads: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value:
$0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee
This information isn't guaranteed by any mean and we are still working on nailing it down.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
Playstation 2: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller (Must be a DualShock2)
GameCube: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above. They will not, however, take RROD 360 consoles. There may be stores that still do it, but official policy is to not take them in.

How much does an EDGE card subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an EDGE card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game and an extra 10% off the purchase of used games.

Does the EDGE Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your EDGE card.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

What states charge sales tax on purchases paid in full with credit and which ones don't?
Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah,
Does Not Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming
No Information Yet: Connecticut, Idaho, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Dakota, West Virginia

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

First post contains promo information and the FAQ. Second post has the 360/Wii/PS3 values. Third post has the PS2/GC values. Fourth post has DS/PSP/GBA values.

Madden 10 (PS3) - $17
LEGO Rock Band (360) - $9.50

On a GS-related note, I got my copy of L4D2 from GS.com. I've never seen a disc in this bad of shape. I did not even bother to try it in my system. I was going over to do the trade-ins, anyway, so I brought the game with me, and the employee re-confirmed what we've known for awhile: that GS.com ships out all of the company's crap.

Anybody know off hand if the PS3 version of MLB 2K10 also will get $24.00, I just tried to call a few stores but its after 9:00 on the east coast so they are all closed.

p.s.
If any west coaster could give a store a call I would be forever in your debt.

You think the barcode would work for any title, or do you think it'd be programmed to only accept those above listed games?
I just received a game online thats getting a disc read error. Anyway to exchange it at a store even though I got it cheaper?
I had the same problem. I was told that I needed to pay the difference to get it replaced since I got it at a cheaper price. I just bought another copy, checked that it worked, switched them and returned it the store and got my credits back.

They aren't supposed to do it that way. There is a whole procedure in their binder on how to do swaps/returns with www.gamestop.com games. A lot of employees just don't want to deal with it.

Exactly, jp. The employee who processed my return today had to get out the binder, because he couldn't remember how do it. Then, the PoS was trying to say I owed money, but he was able to get rid of that. In the end, took a bit, but I got my mint disc, which is all I cared about.

That's pretty smart. I'll keep that in mind if something similar happens to me.

I've gotten a few "off the books" disc switches. But everytime I've gotten a return by the books (by the binder), they give me credit back because the return is done at full B&M price, and the repurchase is with the edge discount. weird.

This happened to me once. I returned a memory stick, used, that I didn't want. Saw the receipt and I was given back what I had saved using my edge card.

This reminds me. I'll just keep the new copies I bought since GS was nice enough to give me some credit back. It'll be too much of a hassle to return new games for used games that the store probably doesn't even have.

I tried to return a couple games this week because I found them cheaper elsewhere and because it had been like 10 days since I got them the employee said I was past my window even though the slip said 30 days. I was bummed because gamestop doesn't give you a return shipping label you have to pay it yourself if you want to mail it back to the warehouse but I called their customer service and before I even mentioned the store incident the guy on the phone said he would email me a return authorization slip to slap on my package..Bravo gamestop.. Now to go tomorrow to swap this disc I got that the ring in the middle is cracked on and to trade in some more stuff

Is it a PS2 game you're playing on a PS2? If so, it might be your system. Clean the lens and you should be ok.

Hopefully no one actually trades in the bulk of those games on that list for the paltry $5 extra, since it won't stack with anything but EDGE. There's only a handful of games on there(the last 360 game, all three DS games)that would be better used with the coupon. But the rest folks would be better using the power trade bonus promo(if it's still going on) or the tiered trade promo and stacking it with EDGE to get the most.

It's usually a no go, but I'll just throw in a YMMV. Your best bet is to go to two separate stores.

Today:

Mass Effect 2 - 24
Tiger Woods 10 :360: - 10
Lego Rock Band :360: - 9.50

MAG - 20
Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection :ps3: - 5
Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising :ps3: - 12

4/2 TIV's

360
Madden 2010 17.25 (-.75)
NCAA Football 2010 14.00 (-.50)
CoD: WaW 5.00

Wii
Big Brain Academy 8.00
CoD: WaW 15.00 (+2.75) --> nice change!

PSP
Space Invaders Extreme 2.00 (+.25)

Does anyone know what the next promo will be? They usually have it out by now don't they? I'm debating of trading in:

Dante's Inferno
Mass Effect 2
Assassin's Creed II
Army of Two: 40th Day
God of War III
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
Borderlands

I don't want to pull the trigger to early because they may have a better promo next time.

As of today:
:360: 512MB Memory Unit - $9.50 ($10.45 after Edge)

Not bad for something that will be obsolete in a few weeks!

Upcoming promo information
tiered trade remains the same and runs through 4/25
bonus $50 credit on 360/wii/ps3 systems traded in. HOLY SHIT!!!
Save $25 on any new game $29.99 or higher by trading in one select game from list. Have not looked at the list yet probably similar to the trade 2 list.
Cool! Too bad i traded my 360 in already. Would've loved 50 extra. Ah well.

With any luck, while the list is usual shit, we could get lucky and have one or two games pop up that we can get cheap elsewhere, like Clone Wars awhile back. They will catch on eventually and stop taking the game in the deal, but we should have plenty of time to flip.

No idea. Posted the info I was given. I have a feeling that will probably be the case considering their last few hardware bonus promos.

You have 6 games that all trade in at pretty high values. I recommend taking the 6 for 40% with 10% edge bonus that is being offered now. I don't believe 7 for $50 bonus would help you and the values will probably drop too much by the time another 50% plus 10% edge comes around (if it even does come around). Your probably looking at an additional $10-$15 for each game with the current promo.

I should have traded in darksiders for $33 during the promo, but I always get worried I will never find that game ever again. I have game paranoia. lol

Don't forget Borderlands will be dropping to $40 new MSRP (next week possibly if BB ad is to be believed) so be ready for its TIV to drop to the $10 range.

Darksiders will be like any other THQ released game and probably drop to $19.99 before too long, which is when I'll probably rebuy it. Hopefully by then they'll have resolved the three beep PS3 restarting issue when going to quit out of the game.

I took back 6 games and my receipt said I took back soul calibur and credited it for me. The problem is that I didn't have soul calibur 4 in the stack. Is it their problem and I get to keep that credit or am I gonna get a call or whatever demanding the credit back?
