Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock - 8/21 Dragonforce Track Pack

yeah im very much a guitar hero novice, more like a guitar comedic sidekick, this is my first guitar hero game, and i still suck pretty bad, i haven't even played on hard yet, but even on medium raining blood is an ass pounder, gotta practice more, i have noticed i've been getting better, if 12 year olds can do it, i should be able to, right? went and picked up the guitar hero 3 soundtrack thing, came with a code to get a code for a free 3 song download, flyleaf, marilyn manson and AFI, haven't checked em out yet, but that's cool.

is it a 1 time download code or would you be kind enough to share it with fellow cags?
 
The new Halo theme song is awesome. It is so much fun to play and has such a great vibe. I would have never thought of them to do this as a song choice, but I am happy they did and being free makes it all the better.

If you can't understand the huge difference in time, effort, and money that went into those downloads, then I can't help you. However, the Halo 3 maps will be free eventually regardless.

Yessssss! Finally beat Lou on Hard tonight. Defiance, I totally feel you. I think I remember reading a post from you about how you must have tried dozens and dozens of times. Then when you really let out your aggressions and finally beat him, you were like, "Oh..." I must have tried it a good 30 times before my memory card data corrupted. I was mortified. Then I ended up beating him my very first try upon reaching that point again. Go fucking figure! :lol:
 
Quick question: I know cheats have been discussed before but I hate using cheats unless I just absolutely have to. The problem is...I want to play The Beastie Boys and The Strokes (and the other co-op only bonus songs) but don't want to use a cheat to get them. Can you only play them/get them in co-op? Do you have to go thru a co-op career to get them opened up to play solo or is there another way? I definitely don't want to use the "all songs" cheat if it affects getting your acheivements and would like to not have to use a cheat altogether.

It seems unfair that they would have several extra good songs but only let you have them thru a co-op career or if you use a cheat!?!? Might they do this as a future download like the Boss Battles?

I believe the "all songs" cheat only works until you quit the game (it it's like the similar cheats in the earlier games), and it disables achievements during that play. So you would have to enter it whenever you wanted to play the songs, at the cost of earning achievements during that session.

And they can only be unlocked in coop career. Although I had enough friends that I could finish the coop career, I'm hoping they add online career with friends in an update, or something. I'd like to try and finish Medium and Expert coop careers someday.
 
No the songs stay unlocked. I put in the All Songs cheat the day I got the game since I only have one guitar. It pretty much just unlocks all songs in quick play and Dragonforce if you haven't beat the game yet. You do still get achievements, it doesn't open up all the songs in Career except Dragonforce.
 
Oh, well, I was guessing anyway.

On a sadder note, I had my first instance of a trash-talking thug wannabe in a player match tonight. Luckily, I got him to drop out after one minute by thoroughly whipping him in Cliffs of Dover. :D

He didn't enjoy my message to him afterwards, either.

Maybe try linking your game to your account on the site again by getting the code in the xbox live menu in the game. They had some trouble getting the data to update at first and yours might not have went through.

Man I'm still stuck on the last boss battle on expert. If he hits double note on me then its over. It becomes all luck and I just got sick of trying. In better news I can get to 70 something percent in TTFAF now, its quite rewarding once you nail the beginning. The rest is cake after but I think fatigue just sets in.

Stack your "weapons" until you have three. Then wait until a hard part is coming up for him, and blast him with all three at once. It was almost instant death for Lou when I tried it.
 
I'll ask this here since this is a huge ass thread. Anyway, I just picked up the PS3 version and sometimes the green fret button doesn't register. It's really annoying cause it fucks up any streak I had going. Does this go away over time or what's the deal?
 
Still no word on any more DLC coming... ugh! My Rock Band arrives from Amazon today so I'll be interested to try that out to see how it stacks up to GHIII.

I did get the GHIII soundtrack to get the 3 free downloaded tracks. They are pretty decent overall. Wish there were more songs on the CD, but I used a BB RZ cert so its all good.

Played a ton of GH last night for the first time in a couple weeks. Yay for getting my 360 back! I like the Halo 3 track, and the Slash and Lou boss battle tracks are mega hard.
 
They need to release a muse pack. That would be sweet.
BTW I just started playing GH 2 and it is awful song wise. Why was it so popular. It seems like every song is a bad cover and there arent many fun songs to play

There are good songs but compared to GH3 no way. They have so many covers that sound awful
I thought woman by wolfmother ould have been good but it wasnt. Avenged Sevenfold 's Beast and the Harlot...bad
 
GH2 has several good and fun to play songs, and Dethklok. Sure some of the covers suck, but the only one that really bothers me is Killing in the Name. The overall setlist might be better than GH3. Both are great though.

I hope they release a Dethklok pack for GH3. Murmaider, Go Forth and Die, and Hatredcopter would be most excellent. Any word on DLC for this week?

They couldn't afford to get the master tracks back then, so they had to use covers. That doesn't make the song list any worse.

Considering the sheer degree of advertising and whoring out that Adult Swim has been doing for GHIII (ads during episodes online, having it playable at the tour with Dethklok and ...Trail of Dead), I would be surprised if a Dethklok pack didn't pop up sometime in the next few months.

I'm hoping it's either free or reduced price thanks to all this advertising, but I won't get my hopes up, either. I'd pay for it (with my remaining smarterchild points! :D )

I think overall GH3's setlist looks better on paper, but GH2 just has more fun songs to play.

Hate to say it, but I think the arrangements may have worked better with the cover songs. Sometimes it feels like your playing in the background now, GH2 made you feel like you were leading the band.

I played a bit last night and found that playing Rock Band over the past week has quickly eroded what little GHIII skills I had. Though I could blow by a couple more songs on Hard but no dice. Guess I'll have to keep practicing.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how much money one is leftover with when they unlock everything as well as 5-star everything?

I was just curious. I've played co-op career with several buddies who are at different skill levels, and I keep amassing more and more money ($2000+ for attaining a sponsorship at any skill level). It seems unfair to players who don't have friends who are into GH, if the margin is severely chopped by not playing co-op (which it obviously has to be).
