Best Buy's presale goodie is pretty decent - its a leather guitar strap in a black&white checker ska-ish style. $5 preorder deposit is all you need - I already know im not going to pick up the game there, just wanted the strap.

Is this only available if you pre-order a bundle or is it also valid when you pre-order a game-only version?

Bundle only . Shouldnt matter unless you actually plan on picking it up at BB ;)

And neo, you only need the receipt to get back your deposit - its worked for me for GH2 and GHEncore. This time the bonus is actually nice(not a sweat band or whatever the other bonus was)
 
Yeah the BB in-store "pre-order" really isn't--they don't even guarantee a copy for you, as it's just credit applied to the purchase. They are easy to cancel, though, and you don't need to return the bonuses if you do.

I might do this the next time I happen to be at BB, but a strap isn't something I'd specifically go out of my way for.

And I did pre-order the PS3 GH3 Extreme from Red Octane direct. They won't give me free shipping since I'm not in the continental US (yeah I tried making the order over $100, but it still won't work w/my zip code), but w/the 10% off coupon, I'm basically paying retail price w/o tax and getting the gig bag and free junk for less than $5.
 
it seems that the Vgmusic code doesn't work anymore, at least not for me. I entered in the code and it says that the 0% discount has been applied. :( Does anyone else have the same problem, or is the code expired now?

Ordered it last night. Once I found out that gig bag was for TWO guitars, I had to do it. I passed on the shirt and faceplate though. $10 extra just wasn't worth it.

... and from what I've read the pack in is wired with Rock Band. The wireless one is extra. Hopefully that isn't true though, because for me Rock Band has a far superior setlist. But if it comes with a wired guitar, they lost a sale and GHIII picked up one.

This is true only for the 360 version because of Microsoft's wireless technology issue.

But to my knowledge they are making a wireless one seperate. So what's the difference? Pack in the one everyone wants and call it a day.

If you used a debit card yes...otherwise they just place a temporary hold on your card to make sure that you have the available balance and then you get charged once it ships.
 
Alright, just wanted to make sure. It doesn't really bother me as long as I don't get charged twice.

It's just weird, because I preorder stuff on other sites and don't get charged... but whatever. Thanks.

I was charged already too. I used a check card, which is what I always use. I've never been charged ahead of time before in the past with this card. Hmmm. By the way, nice to see you're a mod Link.

i got free shipping on the elite bundle from the start... did you guys order the cheap bundle? i think the extras are totally worth the $10

and i checked my cc statement and nothing has posted as of yet. They prob just put an auth.

E-mailed them about 10 minutes after I made the order on whatever day this originally showed up. Thursday? Friday? Not sure which.

They sent back an automatic "we have your question" response, and then I got one that looked written today. Complete with spelling mistake, heh.
 
I just ordered mine a couple of hours ago (elite) and I got free shipping. Totally great deal for the extras, just for the bag alone. Now I have to cancel my Gamestop preorder. It was only $10 though.

I'm tagging this one.

The free extras are definitely tempting, especially the bag. Paying $10 extra might be iffy, but consider Red Octane will probably sell faceplates for more than $10.

I'm just torn on which version to get. The Wii probably won't get DLC or online play although I'm holding out for either of those features to become available. Same for the PS2, and I have two guitars already. The Xbox 360 is probably the best bet for me.

Any idea when the pre-order deals expire?
