Well we now know that GH WT and RB2 will be fully compatible with eachother meaning you can buy the full set of one and use it on the other. So which if either will you be picking up the big bundle package for?

Personally im leaning Guitar Hero since their controllers have been better so far and the track list looks better.....but RB2 tempts me since it has a few of my fav songs on it.

I already have Rock Band 1, so I'm just going to get the RB 2 game itself. I'd like to import the songs from the first game, so it's a no-brainer for me.

I'm may end up getting both. I'll pick up GH:WT's kit cause the drums look incredibly cool, but RB blows away GH when it comes to the amount of songs and selections.

Rock Band 2. I'll probably just skip GH until the price goes down on it. I'll only need the game since I'll be using RB2 stuff.
Game only for both. Plus the stand-alone drums from GH, as long as they work with RB (I don't have any drums yet).
Im wondering this same thing. I never got RB1 and would like to play it. We know that GHWT is compatible with RB2 and RB2 is with RB1 and GHWT.....but is GHWT with RB1?

I'm going to go with Rock Band 2 because Harmonix has had time to try and fix what's wrong with the drums and are allowing us to import nearly all the songs off Rock Band 1, the downloaded content, and we get 20 free songs to download. Guitar Hero was forced to add in drums, otherwise Rock Band would wreck them in sales again. Plus, the sliding fingers on the guitar looks pointless.

I'm leaning towards the GHWT as my pickup first although I'll probably own them both eventually. If they make it so that my RB1 drums will work with everything, and my GH3 guitar works with everything I will buy both game only, but GHWT full set otherwise.

Wow, so they are cross compatible? Awesome.

In that case, I'll wait to see which drumset gets reviewed better, but most likely I'll buy the GH:WT set because I like their guitars more. RB2 would be game only

Disk only for both (and I may wait for a deal for one or both), I'm happy with my Rock Band 1 instruments since I'm not a huge fan of these types of games.

Game only for both since I have the RB bundle, though I may go for the new RB2 guitar to switch my RB guitar to bass. I need to send that guitar in to Harmonix to get it fixed soon.

I'll get the game only of Rock Band 2 for sure but I might get the GH game only at some point. Hopefully the new RB guitar will be much better than the first one too.

Ya its been confirmed. However I have yet to hear anything about GH WT working with RB1 which makes me a little worried. However IMO GH WT's track list just kicks Rockband 2's ass. I like alot of the songs better but I also love the variety they put in the game. Stuff like Micheal Jacksons beat it is really cool to have in there but hearing this song really put me over the top(should piss of rock purists though).

Such freaking crazy drums and for a mainstream rap song its surprisingly cool.

RB2 entire set. I own RB1, but think RB deserves my money. i want the new drum set and wireless guitar. I may look at the GHWT game disc alone. I don't like Activisions history of downloadable content so i don't have any faith that they'll do it right now.

Rock Band only, I already have a bunch of content and the first game, I don't need that many music games. If it wasn't for the fact that there'll be a few updates and the old songs can be imported into the game, I wouldn't bother. Also, I really hope that importing a song from RB1 to RB2 doesn't mean that the DLC will no longer be playable in RB1, because that would blow. There are songs on the RB1 disk I'll still want to be playing.

If I pick up either it would be just the game only version of GH. I have no desire to have the other plastic instruments cluttering up my house.

Odds are I won't buy either though as I haven't touched GHIII much lately so I think I'm pretty sick of the series. I was never huge into it anyway. Working on 5 starring songs on medium was as far as my skill level ever got with the first 3 GH games.

I'll be picking up RB2. I don't have RB1 so getting RB2 with better instruments and then finding a used disc-only copy of RB1 to get all of the old songs into RB2 will be the best deal for me.
dude I game on a Wii. Since RB was trash on Wii I'll probably go the GH route.
Haha why would you do that.

I'm so very sorry...

As for me, probably get Rock Band 2 game alone along with the drums so I can try them out (and put the cymbals and such on). Guitar Hero:WT I'll probably just buy the whole set so I can give that a better shot, though I got to say the addition of one more note to hit on drums compared to Rock Band I know is already going to confuse me.
What about the other way around... will the GHWT gear work with both Rock Band titles? If the GHWT drums work with RB1 then I'm all set.
There's no word on that just yet, though I know Sony's working on getting the RB and GH instruments that are already out into the fold for the PS3 RB, GHIII, and GHA. I don't think I've seen MS say anything about getting the RB instruments compatible with all of the other games, but if the RB2 instruments will be able to work, there's a chance the originals could work, as well. You can check the latest compatibility chart on Joystiq for a more clear picture of where everything's at at the moment:

I will buy RB2 game only only release day and sell my RB1 game. I will wait and see how the DLC is going to go for GH:WT before I commit anything other than a rental to it.
Microsoft said every instrument for every game will work with other games
Link? The only one I've seen being mentioned is this one that clearly says:

All the instruments from Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero: World Tour, and Rock Revolution will be cross-compatible.

With no mention of Rock Band, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero III, and Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and their instruments.

Well, Guitar Hero 2, 3, and Aerosmith work on Rock Band, Rock Band 1 instuments work with GH:Wt & Rock Band 2, and nobody gives a shit about Rock Revolution.

RB instruments still need to work the GH games that are already out. Sony's the only one to make their intentions on getting that to work known right now.

Why, nobody uses the Rock Band guitars anyway? GH 2, 3, and Aerosmith don't have drums or singing.

And the Rock Band guitar does work with Aerosmith

RB2.

Havn't played GH since Harmonix stopped making it and it went to Neversoft. Plus I have no interest in buying another set of instruments and creating my own songs.

Of course people do, otherwise they wouldn't be making sure the guitars are compatible with the upcoming games. I've only heard a "maybe" as far as RB guitars on Aerosmith are concerned.

Quit changing your claims from "every instrument will work with every game" to "some will" to "Nobody uses the instruments that don't work."

Every instrument needs to work with every game and that's it.

Guitar Hero set, Rock Band standalone. Not willing to spend money on another shitty drumset. I'm hoping Guitar Hero's subcontractors are better at working with piezo sensors.

I'm buying both, but I want Rock Band 2 more. I might buy the GH: WT bundle though (already have RB instruments). I prefer RB gameplay, but the accessories feel way too cheap (Red Octane makes good accessories).

I'm going for Rock Band.. Guitar hero could win me back if they were to let you import songs from PS2 GH I, GH II, GH II, and aerosmith. Rock band just seems to know what the fans want. GH is lost.

I still dont have the first Rock Band because I dont have a PS3 yet. I will probably buy the first Rock Band bundle then get Rock Band 2 disc only. As for guitar hero, after seeing what Neversoft and Activision did to the series I think I will stay away from it.

I keep hearing stuff like this but I seriously think its just from RB fanboys and people that hate popular music. I mean since neversoft took over they have expanded and made the gameplay better. They have added larger name bands to the game. They have made all the songs original recordings not impersonators singing the songs. And the new one takes all those improvments and now lets you create not only your own charcter and guitars but also your own damn songs.

Whats to complain about?
