CNN just had a piece on this guy.
I was going to lament about the number of people who now feel "unsafe" in shopping malls, and how it's an absurd sort of naive white-suburban-folk fantasy to believe that shopping in the mall gives one a "cred" of some sort - and, of course, the kinds of folks who said on an NPR interview, without irony, "the police barricaded the mall; we went shopping, we didn't know what else to do."
But there was a brief mention about how Hawkins was recently hired on at McDonald's...and was fired within a week. I'm intrigued by that. How the

do you get fired from a McDonald's? I'm going to consider that as a potential litmus into his persona. I'm interested in hearing more.
The first thing I did after hearing about the shooting? Went to the Apple Store at Kenwood Towne Centre. I needed some things. And then I got a venti Verona coffee at Starbucks (no, no room for cream, thanks), stopped by the watch place to get a link taken out of my band, smirked somewhat amused by the kids hanging out on Santa's lap getting photos taken (and this is an upscale white-neighborhood mall, so they get the Santa with the real beard, and who doesn't smell like lysol, urine, Pall Malls, and Wild Turkey).
What? Are you going to think twice before going to a mall? Get back under your blanket and go back to bed.
I heartily roffle'd at the yuppie paragraph.
No way, might buy a gun though, in movies the mall shoot-outs look

ing sweet. I deffo could have taken that guy, quickdraw style.
I thought about this, actually. I almost wonder if the kid was walking around Columbine/Jihad style, with the weapon at his hip and just opening up on people... or if he actually fired like a normal person. 'Cause if it was the former, the coppers wouldn't have had any trouble, had they arrived sooner. :x
