Halo 3 - General Discussion & Info
Sigh...does anyone know why I didn't get the IWHBYD skull unlocked after I picked it up?
did you hold x or finished the level

Anyone try beating the game on legendary on SP? Or is everyone going for the co-op instead?

Do you get any bonuses for beating it on single player? (armor maybe)

I beat the first 3 levels on solo, must have taken me a solid 7+ hours. I think i'll be sticking to co-op for now, that is unless there are any good reasons to beat it alone.
Hold X? Why?

I just quit after I picked it up.
I didn't get credit for it until I finished the level with it. Was pretty annoying having to do it twice, but whatever.
Ok, one more thing do the skulls give you a bonus at the end or calculated in as you get the kills? If at the end how much does each skull multiply your score by?
Lol at the checkpoint thing. I got the skull on the first level by running through the level.
The skulls add their multiplier to the enemies you kill. They are not added at the end of the level. The only multiplier added at the end is the time multiplier.
What is steaktacular? Luke does owe me a steak dinner...whatever that means.

How did I get this...and what does it mean?
Win a slayer match by more than 20 kills.

Wow. Wasted another hour on 117. For some reason, Catch didn't activate until the middle of the level. That's when I pretty much got raped, repeatedly. I would've gotten the achievement if I actually had weapons at the part where they throw every single covenant type in the book at you at once. I died atleast 5 times there. This is a pain.

How much do you think the downloadable maps will cost? Also, any word on when they will come out?

I ask because I mostly play Team games and am getting sick of the same three maps over and over again.

Anyone else having problems with matchmaking and "Information could not be retreived from the Halo 3 server." Can't seem to find anything concrete on it.

I'd say somewhere around 100-200 points a map.

I am, seems like all my friends on XBL are playing on forge, try that to pass your time

That's pretty long, if you're having trouble getting through the levels, might want to take down a skull or two. You only lose ~150 or so points when you die(and you lose any points you gained since your last checkpoint) which doesn't hurt as much as completely losing the time multiplier.

So is it possible to gain more then one experience point per ranked match? I'm sure it is, you just have to do win by a good amount huh?

im sure we can expect anywhere from 10-20 dollars. for the first set...

I'm pretty sure I won a ranked lone wolves match by 13 kills and only got one experience point. Maybe 15 points but that's pretty hard to achieve. Disappointing to say the least considering you get a tie for third and you still get one experience point.

Granted getting first place a lot means your level will jump higher. I actually lost my first level today falling into last place four times in a row in lone wolves. BTW I'm near level 30ish. Not gonna do ranked team matchs till my friends decide to get their 360 running/buy this game.

Thanks, it just seems like it will take me a long time to become an officer, but most a lot of people here have already gotten that.

They've just played a lot more than you.

I'm only a Sergeant Grade II, for example, but that's because I've been focusing on the campaign (which I beat on Legendary today ).
After I finish off a few more campaign achievements, I'll be going into multiplayer in full swing.

Getting officer is very realistic. Although you may never hit the ranks that require you to be level 50 in something, getting lieutenant isn't too bad considering you just need to be level 10 in something and win 70 exp points. Currently I'm at 63 exp and highest level is 16 (I've been spending a lot of time in campaign in custom).

You can move through the Team Slayer ranks fairly quickly. I'm around level 25 right now after about 80 or so ranked TS games with randoms.

I can't figure out how the leveling works though - I've won 4 straight and my rank didn't change, then I lost one and lost a level, then I won and moved up, etc. Can anyone shed some light on this? Is there hidden meta-experience within the leveling system (perhaps factors like opponent's average rank or your final totals come into play?)

On Lone Wolves I got a 1st, 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 4th, then 1st only to move up from a 44 to 45.

Well, just got on matchmaking with my roommate (it's 1:35 a.m. here) and it says there are over a million people playing Halo right now!
Finally got my Brigadier, that silver eagle military emblem is hot fire.
Too bad Trakan beat you, sucka.

I think I may be in love.

My girlfriend likes to play Halo with me online even :)

She's not that good but who really cares

Just beat the game earlier today. I had it since Tuesday and only played it for an hour and never touched it since until today. The first level felt like "I've done this shit before" and just put the controller down. I've had other moments during the single-player campaign when I encountered the Flood and the same open & shut doors in The Covenant. I played it on Heroic and beat it in around 6-8 hours in basically 1 sitting.

Overall, I felt a bit "meh" about Halo 3 in general. I wasn't excited about the launch and didn't even get excited when it came in the mail from Amazon a week after launch (I felt without tax and free shipping, I could wait that extra week, yeah I'm cheap). But I enjoyed the single player campaign. Probably not as much as BioShock (the only reason I didn't like BioShock a whole lot was because it fucking creeped me out), but I did have fun with it. It wasn't anything new or innovative (hell, I barely used those power-ups and used the gravity hammer maybe TWICE heavily.), but Bungie did manage to perfect Halo in this installment.

I'm FINALLY getting Internet installed at my place tomorrow, anyone willing to play co-op with me on Legendary and helping me find skulls and terminals?
Doubt it maybe $5. Bungie is always good to us. They'll find a way. Like epic did
I thought that the publisher set the price point for content, not the developer.
If it is the publisher that sets the price point we're screwed. Microsoft will get as much money from us as possible.

but MS hates us :(

Sounds like a good range to stop playing Lone Wolves, as I still haven't done any team matches yet.
Too bad Trakan beat you, sucka.
I'm not competing with Trashkan. I'm stopping with Brigadier and level 45, and he's going for General. Which reminds me - when are you gonna step up that gaming, fool? You're still at like Gunnery Sergeant.

I don't know if it's against the thread rules or whatever, but I'd like some friends that play Team Objective.

If you are interested in flags, their means of transportation, and their various forms of capture...ADD ME.

Also, I'm 28 if you're looking for more mature players.

Yeah you are. Pimp told me. Said you were paying kids in some sweatshop you got going on over there to play when you're at work so you can beat me.

Noob question here, but is there anyway to get someone off your banshee before he completes the jacking of your ship?

I tried barrel rolls, and loops but still can't shake that bitch off.

The only thing you can do is have a teammate shoot them off.

You used to be able to smash them against walls and shit, but through the infinite wisdom of Bungie, they took it out.

Done with Campaign for a while, unless someone invites me to it and feel up for it.

Finally got all the achievements. Not diggin' the rewards for it, but it doesn't matter. Anyway, at this point, it's all unranked multiplayer for me. If you want to do some custom games (and I haven't played any at all), add me. GT on the left.
Can you get the "better next time" achievement in social matches? or even custom?
You can get it in social FFA matches, yes.
