Halo 3 - General Discussion & Info

For whatever reason during the middle of a multi-player match my 360 will often ask me which hard-drive I want to save data to. So I pick my only option and I'll be good for about three minutes until the blade pops up again and asks me which hard-drive to use.

It's only happening with Halo and it's only happening with online matches. Has anyone else encountered anything like this?

Whenever I get into a Lone Wolf game in which everyone else is planning to do this, I always ruin it, by waiting for them all to set up, then stealing the Overkill for myself (I got mine like, 3 games into my online career). I almost always then go on to win these games, then get ROYALLY flamed afterwards in the post game lobby. Sorry, Achievement Whores, I play the game for real.

Switch your language to one that not that many people would use, and sort matchmaking by "my language only".

I haven't done this, but I intend to if I don't get the steppin' razor, and 2 for 1 soon. Almost had the 2 for 1, but somebody torched me right before it fired.

See how the vast majority of the players are English-speaking Americans? Well, if you pick Portugese or something else, it greatly reduced the amount of people playing in "your" language. And most of those people are just slick Americans wanting achievements.
 
That has been happening in matches for a while now from that I've seen but it's pretty uncommon. I assume people are lagging wether it's intentional or not.

They call it Halo Kart but I think a better name for it is something like Mongoose Mayham. Seems pretty interesting and I think I'll try it out when I get home to see what it's like.

Yeah, getting the achievements isnt real. And now that i am at level 40, the chances of players actually sucking and being stupid enough to actually bunch together is terribly low if i want to achieve the overkill.

I'm in the same boat. Also I have played games where people want to get achievements but it usually isn't everyone so I have only gotten the laser nothing else.

I don't really understand why they allow people to get exp. points in Social anyway I mean if he is doing it you have to figure that a lot of the people that boosted in Halo 2 are doing it as well.

It really makes you wonder how he got to be a 42 in team slayer.

The car on the left looks nice....The one on the right, yeah Id look really cool driving around in a replica of the spartan helmet....Its just ugly looking for a car design.
 
For the metagame achievements, I recommend going through solo on normal with the following skulls:

Tough Luck
Catch
Fog
Tilt
Mythic

and just for fun:

Grunt Birthday Party
IWHBYD

Go for headshots with the battle and covenant rifles and stickies, especially on the big guys that wear armor. Explode manned vehicles for more points, especially when you can get the Scorpion tank.

I was able to get the achievements on the first try with that combo and it was fairly easy, if a bit boring, except for the level with all the fog and flood; I took too long the first time because I forgot how to trigger the ending but it was really easy(and short) the second time around. The time limit doesn't even matter on the later levels.

Thanks for the tips...I'll try this after I decide when to finish Legendary.

I think it's much easier to just use Tough Luck, Famine and Fog. I didn't have a problem getting any of the achievements on any of the levels (even got over 100,000 on a few of them) using just these 3 skulls and playing on normal. It's very simple.

Oh I also had IWHBYD and Grunt Birthday Party on just for kicks.

Edit: Oh I also think I'm the latest CAG to get 1000/1000 achievement points.

l I'm 36 in Lone Wolves but I keep dropping because whenever I see the Spartan Laser or a bunch of people gathered around I pray I'll get lucky.

Two games I drove around the mongose the entire time and no one jacked me. I was pretty bored.

I don't care much if I drop in levels as long as my kill ratio is near a 1.0 in ranked matchs. I know some of you guys have a insane 2.0-3.0 kill ratio in ranked matchs though. fuck.

I am 40 in LW and am somewhat disgusted, i can imagine how zewone feels at 45.
 
I Got tired at 17, I Just dont have it in me, Sure its fun But its like im forcing myself to play instead of have fun. Im sticking with Big Team battle its fun as hell, driving the banshees and riding around in the warthogs and elephants killing everything.

Does Infection come up in Big Team battle? i havent seen it yet.
 
I think once I get that Leutinant I'm going to be done with online completely. Once I broke 10 I just didn't give a fuck anymore. I can't wait to get my hands on TF2.

What do you need? A life?
 
For you level 40 guys, is it as easy to level up as it was in the Beta? I hit a high of 42 on that thing and thought it was cake compared to leveling in H2.

Getting past like a 34 or 35 in TS and past a 27 in Team Hardcore was damned hard because of the competition.
 
Leveling is tremendously easier on 3 than it was on 2. I played 2 for a solid three or four months for hours every day and never got above 20 or 25 on anything. I've been playing this fairly casually for a few weeks and I'm already 38.

Speaking of which, I'm shooting for 40, but this crap is getting way too hard. I started out at 36 yesterday, got to 39, lost a few, 38, won a few, 39, lost, 38, etc. Finally, I quit.
 
Quick question. Are most of you guys (and gals) long-time halo 1/2 players and fps players? Some of you guys put up insane numbers.

I haven't played a multi-player fps since golden eye/perfect dark (when you could see everyone's screen) and only played halo:CE and 2 beginning earlier last month for the first time (except for a couple times at a friends house)

I have been playing around 5-6 hours of multiplayer and haven't gotten past 10. :roll:

Just wondering what kind of experience your bringing to the game.

I'm confused. For the Lee R. Memorial, do you need to score 5 sticks in a single game? Or in total? I know I've gotten more than 5 sticks in total.

Also uhh...where's that Achievement boosting thread? Heh.
