Don't tempt Linkin to delete something :lol:.
And lulz @ 20 posts/page.

It was deleted because Liquid said N***a and then the Nazi comment...we don't need racism on these threads. Keep on topic guys don't take it personal.

With how big this one is, I bet no one will.

Street dates typically get broken when some retard completely fucks up. Everyone and their mom knows when halo 3 comes out, and I'm sure the bigwigs at retail corporate know it too. It's not gonna break.

the boxes will have orange label saying do not sell before 9/25, and Halo 3 is a big hit that few major retailers will break the street date. I remembered back when Halo2 launched a mom and pop charged extra and sold them early because the store never signed anything from MS telling them not to sell it early. Mom and Pop store will likely be the only source.

are there still mom and pop stores that sell video games?

I remember defender did that, but sold it for normal price to CAGs.

My hopes are on Rasputin Music in Berkeley. They broke it on FFXII (got it Friday before release), so hopefully they do it for Halo. That would be faaaaab. As for major retailers, maybe TRU. They seem to have the least spirited employees...thus the least likely to follow any orders that their bosses give them. God forbid they're just told to read the directions on the boxes.

Probably Wal-Mart, with the legions of kids working there that will probably burst from the pressure of both work and school now ;P

I don't think there will be a chain wide break or anything, but I'm sure there will be localized incidents here and there of some clerk putting it out early.

Not sure it will be the big box stores though since they are more likely to have a warning block in the register that pops up and says do not sell until sept 25 etc.

Honestly I've never finished single player for halo 1 or 2, I got them purely for multiplayer. Now with the Legendary editon, I remember reading something about cinimatics from the first 2 games. Is it going to include all of them, so I can basicly sit down, watch them, and be fully caught up for the Halo 3 campaign mode?

I don't think anyone will, I bet there will be big fines for whoever does sell it early, like what has been done with Madden games. However, I remember a GS in Mexico breaking the streetdate of Crackdown, even though there was one of those orange seals, so who knows...

I don't think there are fines for breaking street date. The punishment is usually that the publisher will hold out on shipping them future games for a while etc., sending more copies to the competition.

Now there might be company fines--i.e. Gamestop Corporate fines the manager of a store who broke street date.

But I don't see how the publisher would have a legal recourse to issue fines to stores who broke date.

There are certainly plenty of methods that could be used to prevent anyone from breaking street date. Working as a projectionist at a movie theatre for example, I can tell you that our prints of Transformers for example were padlocked and we weren't given the code to open them until the Monday the film was set to debut, so it can be done.
Oh yeah, I am now considering pre-ordering Halo 3. Where could I get the best goodies for pre-ordering the game? Thanks for any help.
FamilyVideo.com has the regular edition for $49.99 - $5 off for new customers. Or $59.99 for the CE/LE - $5 for new customers...$0.99 shipping, should get it there in a week or so if you don't mind waiting.

Here's the Reg. Version and Here's the CE Version. And here's the Code for $5: NEWPGMEM

Definitely not Blockbuster. I asked if they would even be doing a midnight release and got a firm "NO" since they close at 10 p.m. here on weekdays. And yet they did a midnight release for Harry Potter. I swear, sometimes it sucks living in Podunkville.

Street dates are written into contracts. They might not be made with the individual retailer but rather a distributor. Someone has made a legal obligation to satisfy the publisher, though it might not be the individual who actually breaks the street date. There likely is some kind of monetary damage specified for breaking the street date, whether it is enforced by the manufacturer is another story.

BTW, I would love to see 7-11 break the street date. I'm sure someone will be able to bribe the East Indian fellow working behind the counter with cash.

Si senor. And they've all been re-done in HD. Except...without the gameplay inbetween, you might get kind of lost. I tried watching the MGS3 movie disc, turned it off after 20 minutes for 2 reasons. MGS3's storyline is hands-down the dumbest thing I've ever tried to consume, seriously it's beyond retarded. I gave it a chance after MGS2's fucking shit-ass story line, and somehow Kojima pooped out a bigger piece of shit. /rant

Oh that and there were parts where I wasn't able to follow exactly what had happened.
Mom and Pop is now a major retailer? ha. funny.

Wal-Mart, probably.
Also EBGS / GC (but only on the downlow, and only for EMPs).

Guess I should ask for my job back before long, as I heard that they're actually shipping out sometime next week (or was that NEXT, next week).

I don't even think its possible at Wal-Mart anymore. When I tried to buy Saint's Row a few days early, I took it up front and it wouldn't ring up. After them checking around for a bit they figured out it doesn't come out for a few days. So unless you get some really oblivious worker, there isn't a very good chance at Wal-Mart.
costco sent me my Halo 2 a day before on Sept. 10. Good thing I didnt have XBL
That would mean you got it 2 months before it's street date of Nov. 9th. Time warp perhaps?

It was in one of the pictures promoting Halo3, so its not unexpected. I want something amazingly fresh looking.

Agreed. I'm rather disappointed in almost all the new helmets.
