Halo 3 - General Discussion & Info
You yammer on about Halo 3 to your girlfriend?
Yea, who needs dinner and a movie. Watching guys play video games is the ultimate aphrodisiac...

Wow, this thread is sad.
Agreed. Why shell out $90 for a game that will be readily available everywhere in a couple of days. Surely you can find something else to do in the meantime.

I would sell that on ebay with the quickness.
All the people who say unplug your network cable until the release date...

Just hope you all know that doesn't work.
It can connect to Live magically without a connection?
It can connect to Live magically without a connection?
As soon as you connect it back up, they can see what you've played offline. Kind of how your gamerscore gets updated?
As soon as you connect it back up, they can see what you've played offline. Achievements / playing time aren't logged for dates and times when achieved offline.

Not that it matters, all the banning threats were bunk anyway.

Oh, but I bet there is a way to tell.

LMAO. The internet is running wild with forum threads of kids posting pictures of Halo 3 on their TVs, gloating about having "inside connections" because their "brother's-mother's-sister's-cousin's-former room mate works at Bungie".

Yet these people never actually post pictures of the case or disc. Piracy FTW?
If you were worried, I'd do what an above poster said, and just don't jump on Live until Tuesday.

But, I doubt you'd be banned, since the game was purchased legally.

Still, I'd be putting that on ebay just as quick as I could.
If you did it would have to be a 24hr auction cause if ebay notices they will take it down. No beta releases or breaking street dates.
Unplug netwok cable until 9/25; no one will be online anyway.
Common Sense 101. This is nothing more than a bragging thread.

Here are some impressions......read at your own risk!!

I just beat it last night on normal and it took around 7-8 hours. The graffix were improved from the beta a lot and really look good in the wide open enviroments. The flying parts are freaking cool and make up for some of the levels that drag on a bit to long. I loved how you fight those scaab things a lot in Halo 3....that was one of the best things about Halo 2. Plus the last escape ride was incredible and made me wish that the other levels were explosive like it. Of course the multiplayer is awesome as usual so its still going to be the biggest game ever;)

Now to the bad parts.....the story was a HUGE bummer for me. I'm not going to get into specifics, but I will never play the single player again. It was torture playing though the numerous flood levels AGAIN and not even close to being fun like the regular brute levels. My biggest gripe with the game is the AI of your teammates and the enemy. Countless times I killed enemies that had gotten stuck on a piece of the enviroment easily or my teammates were rendered useless because of the same problem. Maybe I should have played it on Heroic, but I didn't have that problem in the first two on Normal. Also, thoughout the game you get these "Bioshock" type flashbacks in your head that become very annoying and don't really do much to advance the story. I kinda wish I played this before Bioshock, because it kinda made me more critital of these things, but its still a good game. Just keep a open mind with the rough levels and you will be rewarded with awesome vehicle levels!
Is it possible to find any people for team slayer and such?
No. Matchmaking is disabled at the moment.
*stuff about getting the game on friday*
I've been playing the game while connected to Live (online co-op), in fact just beat it today.

Not banned, don't be scared by crazy rumors.

Without giving up any spoilers, how would you say the game is? Like on a ratings scale. Also if you could compare it to the other Halo's that'd be awesome :).
It's the best Halo ever, by far.
This has nothing to do with anything, but I did get a laugh out of "called the shit poop!" Well done.

Hey guys, if anybody is trying to get the game before the official street date your best bet is gonna be 7-11. I went to 4 today (im a delivery driver, just in case you were wondering why 4 in one day) and I talked to each manager from the 4 stores. They all said the minute they get the shipment they are putting them on the shelves, regardless of release date. One last thing, 7-11's are supposed to get the shipments by friday. Im in the San Bernardino, CA area.

yeah, but i can't figure out how to search for the 7-11's in tn. they're aren't any near me (30 min), and the 7-11 website won't let you search just the state.

:bouncy: I head a roumor 36Mafia is gonna be play'n on launch. I played with them on CoD4 beta a few hours ago at 9 eastern time. Added them to my Friends List. Hit me up if you want to become their friend. they may not accept you or it may be full. Juicy J said he'd be " All over that Halo 3 shit" when it comes out. Like I said hit me up if you want to know their name. Im not sure if their real or not but I could recognize project pat and computer. Juciys a asshole from what i can tell hehe. 3 6 BITCHES.:bouncy:

never said the 7-11 was in tn. :)

those of you that got the collector's edition, prepare to be fucked. Know how they screwed up the packaging with Halo 2? Guess what.. they didn't learn. In the CE, the game disc comes sitting on a tiny nub and when we received them at work, the seals were cracked on three copies of the LE so we had to make sure the discs were okay.. all three game discs were scratched. Not a tiny scratch either, the scratches are circular.. basically the radius of a gamecube disc. I don't know if ALL CE's are like that, but the three we had to check were. And the discs were secure, it's not like they were rattling around or anything.

That's how my Prey CE was .

Do you have a pic of the CE opened ?
No. Matchmaking is disabled at the moment.
Actually there was a title update this evening which enabled it. I've been playing matchmaking all evening. there were only 23 people online in Halo 3 when I jumped on matchmaking almost immediately after the title update occurred. of course i couldn't find a match for the life of me......for about an hour or so.....last i checked there were 300 people online in matchmaking.

great i ordered the limited edition, damn i shouldve gotten the regular for 46 bucks :bomb:

no, sorry. we checked discs and put them back in the case and sealed it up and put the box away. the box itself is solid black with the "3" logo on it. it's kinda weird how it opens up, it opens up like a Z. One side opens from one way, one side opens from the other.

and yeah, it's exactly how the Prey CE disc was.

I found a pic of it on ebay. that's how the game discs are, just kinda sitting there on a tiny nub.

You think I should switch to legendary or the regular edition? I don't want to find my disks screwed on my LE, that would suck ass.

legendary editions are fine and come in a case like the standard edition. most stores received enough copies of the standard edition to cover preorders, plus like 50 extra. You'd be fine switching to the standard.

i mean the discs would be playable, but I like my discs to be pristine.. I play some games for 30/40 hours and they still look great.. but this looked like shit right out of the box.
^i wonder if i can still switch my preorder at LG to regular
Tell them you're going to open it in front of them , and if it's scratched you want an unscratched replacement .

Oh wow, there is already downloadable content-ish type thing for Halo 3 already.

You can upgrade your Halo 3 file share from a 6 slots and 25MB limit to 24 slots and 250MB limit for 750MS points.

I think I'll be purchasing the upgrade myself.
