Halo 3 - General Discussion & Info

any XGC'ers on CAG?

I hear a lot about SWAT but I never played it.

I have been falling in love with Halo so much I actually bought the legendary pack last night.
It's the first DLC I've ever purchased.
 
I just won EIGHT team slayer modes at lvl 44 IN A ROW and didn't level up. Only on the 9th win straight did I hit lvl 45. It's kinda sad really since I was already 45 in TS and usually if I fall one level it only takes a couple wins in a row to get back up there. This time it took 9 straight...then I lost two in a row after that and fell back to 44 cause my teammates sucked (ya random...) so I think my game is bugged now. I couldn't connect to any games after that either...
 
I happened to check out a hacked map of Last Resort. It had a bunch of Gauss canons lying around along with frozen and destroyable monitors. Oh and some random neutral flags and a couple of random wheels....and then a ton of spartans and elites standing still in idle animation. Killable too... check out some pics I snapped of it(from "wv" up):

From 2pm PDT today until Monday morning, Team SWAT is available as an unranked Double EXP weekend. This is SWAT's last weekend before it graduates into a full time, DLC-required ranked playlist in May. Grab some friends and spend the weekend practicing your headshots. Enjoy!
 
hey spades22 um i play halo3 and if you want me to i can help you get ur 50 i am already a 50 in slayer and doubles and slayer. as long as u do ur part it shouldnt be to hard. i also have a 48 in lone wolf 46 in objectives and a 28 in mlg. just send me a friend request my tag is cr4zy shoot3r. exacly the way its says there. peace.

What do you mean by "hacked" map? Wasn't it just a setup in Forge? Also, was it a game that you were in, or how did you take the pictures?

I was browsing the bungie forums and someone posted it and it got reported, locked, and deleted rather quickly. I managed to download it though. I assume it was created with a modded 360 but if you download the map it runs fine on an unmodded 360 like any other forged map. I took the pictures in the theater after checking out the map in Forge.

If its so easy why are you asking for help to get to 50? Shouldn't you be able to have gotten it on your own by now?
 
the easiest game to get to level 50 would be COD4 of course its not halo, and if you get to level fifty in halo 2 you most likely would be cheating, i think getting to 50 in Halo 3 is a challenge, mostly due to bad teamwork with randomly matched people, i'm sure its much easier with a bunch of friends that know how to communicate

Wrong. I am a 48, and I won 10 straight and didn't level up to 49.

Anyway, I bet my cousin could own you any day. He isn't a bad kid asking for help getting 50's on forums and he has 5 accounts with 2 or more 50's, what do you have? He also has accoutns with like 7 losses in 150 games, the kid is amazing.

On a side note, my pursuit of 50 is going to be temporarily put on hold due to GTA IV. Maybe some time off will do me good!

Although, shooter is right in one regard; Getting a 50 in Halo 3 is much easier than it was in Halo 2.

I'd had some frustrating string of matches over the past few days so that felt good. :D My team mates were pretty fun as well as I guess I ran over a trip mine a mate had set just before I rolled around the corner in my tank and they were all laughing about how I didn't see it.

Yeah, it was a tad cheesy being it was CTF but I basically controlled the other team's flag side of the map with a tank for the entire match. :D I decided to just keep killing them until they took out my tank which they never managed to do.

I kind of feel like I'm plateauing as far as skill but I try not to let it bug me.
 
Latest bungie weekly update had a few interesting tid bits

* Team SWAT will become a full time ranked list in May and will require Legendary DLC.
* Double XP weekend every weekend in May.
* IMO implies that there will be a Grifball double XP weekend in May.
* All other Double XP weekends will require Legendary MP.

I'm glad I have Legendary. I wonder if requiring Legendary for SWAT means it will have a low population and take a long time in matchmaking. Guess we'll find out.

"May is just around the corner, and with it comes the May playlist update. The big ticket items of interest to most people are the establishment of a full-time SWAT playlist and a month full of Double EXP weekends. Just as a reminder to everyone, the Team SWAT playlist will be ranked, and will require Heroic and Legendary DLC. Further, with the exception of Grifball, future Weekend playlists will all require the latest DLC as well. The other item of note is that the skill matching threshold of Ranked Big Team Battle has been expanded to 15 from the range of 10 normally used, in an attempt to increase matchmaking frequency."

Is there a time of month when the playlist update typically goes in or does it vary?

Played a few matches on the MLG list until I got that Team King BS. 250 points just takes SO DAMN LONG to reach. Same with the team oddball mode. It's just too long and boring.

Also I have a map variant "Donkey Kong" in my file share that's fun for a minute or so play. (I didn't create it.)

I believe it was at 150 before. 150 was too short if you ask me. I do agree that 250 is too long though. Hate those game types. It should be 200.

Holy crap the comp. was tough on that list this afternoon. There are some people that are just way better at head shots than I. That's for sure.
 
As of 26 minutes ago, the weekend double EXP playlist has gone live. This weekend's theme? Well, Cinco De Mayo is coming up and so we here at Bungie's dark forboding towers thought "Hey, it's time for a Fiesta!" And what better way to throw a fiesta than with the Fiesta gametype? Fiesta, for those of you not familiar with the throwback to Halo 2, is a game where you spawn with random weapons. Craziness and good times ensue. Enjoy!

As per earlier announcements, Cinco De Mayo requires both the Heroic and Legendary map packs for participation.
 
It's pretty chaotic. Not a ton of strategy really other than try to find rocks but then it is FFA.

You only get pointss as the juggernaut in fiestanaut which makes the mode drag on pretty long. Plus there are a lot of betrayals. I'd say I like straight slayer the best.
 
I have the new maps now, i love blackout! HotShot, i know you have given me invites on 2 seperate occacasions but i didnt join because i didn't have the new mappack. Anyone that wants to play hit me up.

Yeah rocks = rockets in dork Halo speak.

The Fiesta list lets everyone talk to each other during FFA which means quite a bit of smack talk. Some people are funny, some people are lame.

BIB - I'm not sure that ColHot has the new maps. (I have them though :D )

I'm nearly always up for a custom game or whatever so anyone that sees me feel free to send me a game invite. If you're not on my friend's list please just put CAG or something as the text.

I think I tend to be on earlier than most CAGs. :cry:

SWAT I'm not sure of as I don't have much trouble with them in that gametype. Other gametypes I tend to find them more annoying, probably as I don't know their sweet spot quite as well as Spartans.

Most definitely...I have a harder time killing Elites over Spartans, its harder to find their heads.

As soon as I realized that, I changed classes, and I died just as much :cry:

I've been running into a decent number of people with something like 50 ranked games played and a high skill of 35. I guess they are 2nd accounts and they are usually pretty damn good.
 
I do think being an Elite gives an advantage in SWAT. It seems way harder to get a head shot from behind on an Elite.

Also I'm not really digging the Fiesta list this weekend. It's alright but I get sick of it quickly.

Dude on my team just had 0 kills and 20 deaths. That's like a Reverse Rampage. It was Big Team Slayer too (so it wasn't like he was just going for a flag or something.) :shrug: And I'm pretty sure he was trying - at least I didn't notice anyone just running around trying to get killed. :D That was part of 3 or 4 social matches in a row where I was one of the top players in the match. Now that's nice for a change. :mrgreen:
 
Does Cinco De Mayo Double XP end today? I barely got a chance to try it last night and I thought it was a blast. It was very chaotic and definately turned the tables on every map.
