does anyone know if the helmet is of good material? i mean...is the extra $40 for the legendary edition worth it for the helmet (excluding the other extras)?

Wow... so the extra $30 to get the "Legendary Edition" just gets you the helmet... but they don't tell you what the rest of the "Collector's Edition" extras are.

Even at $100 people will buy it but I hope they don't over produce it like they did with the Halo2 LE.

What if you got a coupon to take it into any 99flavors or basket robins location for a helmet full of ice cream?
 
It'd be well worth it if it was a fully featured Master Chief helmet. You know, you put it on and see the ammo for whatever weapon you're holding, etc.

The Assassin's Creed bonus is much cooler and much cheaper. Plus I'm still miffed at Bungie for not finishing Halo 2.
 
Yeah, how big is this helmet? For some reason I'm now imagining a slightly larger than the ones you get in the quarter vending machine sized helmet.

I just hope they've spent as much time on Halo 3 as they have figuring out ways to get fans to spend more money.
 
Well for us CAGs, the challenge is clear = in the next 9-12 months we have to figure out where to find the best deal for the Legendary Edition!!!!

I fully expect us to figure out a deal for 30-50% off the regular price.

Massive props to the dude who found the $70 shipped (after coupon) Collector's Edition of Assassin's Creed (compared to $108 after tax typical price)
 
The Legendary Edition contains 4 discs, and the Spartan Helmet will be the actual display case for holding the discs. It will not be full-sized, but more like the size of a cat's head (around 5" - 6" diameter). The official price is still unknown right now.

Theres other featurs to the legendary, I think im going to get that. Seems better then the Assasins creed one. Still wondering on the quality. Seems like a big paper weight.

woah woah woah woah woah...woah.......woah............you can't even wear the helmet?
 
Well the CE of the last several years have just been test by companies to see if gamers would pay more for a little extra stuff that costs them peanuts to produce. The last year or so collector's editions have taken on a life of there own. With every game from FFXII to Perfect Dark Zero getting a CE. This is just the next logical step in the manufacturers eyes.
 
im gonna hold off on this..never know, i remember there was huge hype for halo 2, pre orders like mad, but overstock had it, the LE for like $45 shipped, so..i agree with kingdox on holding off for now

...plus the helmet DOES look like a big paperweight ;)
 
If that was a full size (or damn close) replica helmet I'd drop the $100 but I'm not spending that much more for a mini helm.

Because preorders arent refundable...
Never know if they finally decide to make it limited this time, especially the legendary. So if you want it might as well preorder it just in case.

Can you say MGS3:Subsistence LE. Sure this is not a Cheap Ass deal by any means, but these will be limited and will fetch a pretty penny down the road. Hopefully, if prices for next gen games go up we will be rewarded with collector's items such as this. So far we as gamers can look forward to a Master Chief Helmet and Assasin's Creed 12" Figurine. There definately won't be a comparible bundle put out by SONY's Killzone a.k.a "The Halo Killer":rofl:

Also if you think about it there will be at least one "Trade 3 Get $10 extra" in the next year, so your only out $25 cash. If you have credit right now you're out nothing.
 
YEa ill pay for the regular edition. CE are a waste of money. What good does it do you? Unless they make limitedd quantities it is a waste of money....but hey this is why we are america

ill be going for the standard editon just like i did with Splinter Cell DA and will do for Gears of War.
Im boycotting special editions.
 
If it was a real sized helmet...maybe... but the size of a cats head? ... no thanks. Hmm might go with collectors edition, or just get the normal version. I got awhile to decide.
