Halo: Reach
Wasnt pink an optional color for your gear/icon in halo 3? Its not in Reach.
Pink's there. It's called "rose".

Yeah, it's not the exact same, but it's close enough. Honestly, I don't like the purple or pink as much in this game. They should have a sliding color customization thing. I've always had my guy with purple as his default color, pink as secondary, and the phoenix emblem, ever since Halo 2.
I missed it thankfully. I'll never know why people are adverse to using spoiler tags

I'm having a great time with the campaign. Heroic is kicking my ass, though. The Elite is one of the best enemies in a video game. Ever. Really tough to take down, especially when there's two or three of them together.

The last mission I finished
with space combat and Jorge's demise
is definitely one of my favourites of the whole series. Great departure from the traditional Halo combat scenario.
Just wait until you play Legendary. That will REALLY kick your ass. Me and 2 friends took forever just to kill one White Elite. Noob combo ftw. That's the only way to kill them quickly.
Okay, so I wasn't really paying attention because I was busy trying to kill three banshees that were on my tail, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
Was Buck from ODST in the Pelican that you have to escort during the 8th mission? I thought I heard Nathan Fillion and my ears perked up.
I think it was. Nathan Fillion is available as a Firefight voice in the armory, so maybe it really was him.
Say, is there much more to the armory than what's initially listed???? If not, it's much smaller than I had originally thought.
I thought I read more stuff is supposed to be added as the game ages?

Also Buck was on Reach and survived in the story so it would make sense.

Try going through Legendary solo. Talk about your suicide missions. Managed to fully complete 3 missions so far (not counting the first, cutscene only one). ~2/3 through on the next mission. Been taking me way longer than it should. Time-wise, I'll definitely get my money's worth through just the campaign.

Also encountered a most beneficial bug. Towards the end of Night Fall, I was getting frustrated at dying so much, that I saved, quit, turned the 360 off, and relaxed for a bit. Came back, one-shot the rest of the map (which wasn't much), and got the Carter's Helmet avatar reward, which is supposed to be unlocked by "Clear a Campaign mission on Legendary without dying." Now, I know I died earlier, but it looks like it didn't save my death count when I saved and quit.

Haha, that's awesome man. I wish I could go through this on Legendary solo, but I just don't have the patience or the skill. Heroic dominated me at certain spots on just about every level.

I just beat the last mission. Great campaign overall. Don't really have much to say negatively about it. I wish there would have been some more character development with Noble Team, but I liked what was there. I do think they pulled off the setting magnificently. Reach was such a cool backdrop for the game. Definitely my favourite setting since the original Halo ring.

Also,
I was dyin' for a Master Chief cameo at the end! I know, I know. It would have been a bit too easy for Bungie, but man that would have been awesome. Though I did love the scene with the Pillar of Autumn flying towards the first Halo. Brings back fond memories of the first game.

Hats off to Bungie for another quality experience. It's sort of crazy to think that this is last time I'll ever play a Halo game from them. The Halo series has been such a constant for what feels like forever now. And it was always reassuring to know that Bungie was hard at work on the next Halo title. Nonetheless, I can't wait to see what they do next. For now, I get to jump into Reach's multiplayer full-on. And I'm sure we'll get some sweet maps down the road.

Is it possible to skip levels in the single player campaign? I just finished the game on legendary and didn't get ANY achievements for completing the game. When I look at the missions it shows that I completed all of the missions on legendary except for the ONI : Sword Base mission. It doesn't show that i completed it on any difficulty setting even though I beat it on legendary. I don't understand why the hell it never gave me credit for beating the level.
I thought I read more stuff is supposed to be added as the game ages?
theres stuff that appears as you rank up.

Man at first i really hated swat, but now i really like playing it. I also like playing with snipers. It could be that a lot of noobs are playing right now, but im pretty good with sniper. I wasnt that good with them on halo 3. But im having a blast in MP, i could keep playing but need sleep. Pro slayer is another game i like playing.

I wonder if you can unlock icons to put on the front of the E.V.A. helmet. I dont see any attachments for it. That would be pretty cool, thats my favorite helmet. I also like the MJOLNIR Security, but that doesnt seem to be in the game.

Were you playing solo? Halo has always had a somewhat wonky save system for the campaign; it's especially bad if anyone drops out online as it could mess it up for everyone. Also pretty sure you can't continue from checkpoints when playing online and have to beat the level in one sitting, though I'm not 100% on that.

Regardless, you're going to have to play that one level over, and I would definitely recommend doing it in one sitting. Good news is that you should definitely get your achievements once you do beat that one

I think SWAT is going to be to Reach what Shotty Snipers was to 3...my friends and I will never win in that mode. One thing about the headshots in general is it seems there's a huge hitbox for them. There have been times I know I didn't get a headshot yet it still credited me for one. I like Pro Slayer as well. Like I said before, I'm pretty sure there's no sword in that mode which helps. I must say I have been trying to use the sword more though and wow...it is even dirtier than I thought. Sword and Sprint is a deadly combination.

So last night I was playing Team Slayer. I saw an enemy in front of me heading towards a doorway. I lob a sticky at the doorway, trying to time it so it gets there the same time as the enemy.

I lob the grenade, and as soon as I do, a teammate sprints past me heading for the same enemy. My grenade arcs through the air and comes down and sticks my teamate right in the back of his head. He blows up.

Screen fades to black and I'm kicked from the game for team killing.

My wife was watching and she lol'd. I need to go into the theater and save that clip.

If at anypoint during the level you stopped playing and came back later starting from a checkpoint you wont get the achievement.

Played a long time last night. Did a lot of firefight, goofed around in a custom match with a CAG and racked up some of the achievements, and then played a good bit of multiplayer.

Also knocked out the daily challenges which were pretty easy to get in matchmaking firefight yesterday and got that achievement.

I got my ass kicked as usual in multiplayer, though was starting to hold my own a tad better toward the end of the night. Looking forward to hopping on again tonight.

Goddamnit man. fucking Kotaku. They basically posted a spoiler as a fucking news story.

Not surprising but fuck man, that would've been way cooler to discover myself.

Happen to have a source for this? I've been going through the game, stopped and came back later for every mission so far, and every mission I've completed has the legendary shield under "solo". I'm assuming once every mission has that shield I'll get the achievement.

I wasn't paying attention to the heroic symbol for my missions, but I've stopped and came back on at least one mission and still got the mission achievement for it as well.

Just personal experience. Happened in Halo 3 as well, if I stopped during the level and came back to it I didn't get an echievement for that level. Happened with Reach for me already, I have to go back and get the second level achievement because the person I was playing with couldn't continue and I started back later from a checkpoint. If you have been getting the level achievements while stopping/continuing mid-level then maybe I'm doing something wrong.
go buy another one from gamestop, or anywhere for that matter, then sneak the bad one into the new box, and return it as broken with your new receipt!
Hmmm, i might do this but im worried they might not refund my money, and only accept exchanges for the same product. It comes with a banshee redemption card, not sure if that would effect anything, obviously i wouldnt open that. I just cant afford to pay 60 for the halo reach controller only for the store to only accept exchanges for the same item, no cash refund. Or worse, refund my money as a gift card to their store. Any idea what store is good for its returns?

Yeah, I've been stopping/continuing mid-level for just about every level I've completed, and I've gotten the "mission complete" achievement for every mission that I've completed. Usually I only stop/continue once, and I never restarted a mission or anything like that. Only loaded a checkpoint whenever I died.
Are you guys saving and quitting, or just shitting off your box when you get the check point? You have to do the former to not lose progress.
At the risk of sounded retarded, I haven't seen a save option in the menu when I've exited games. I've stopped at checkpoints, exited to the menu, then continued later. All in split screen co-op so far, and doing so I never got a level 2 achievement, and in Halo 3 doing so I had to replay 2 levels to get it.

There's a save progress/save & quit option when you hit start to get to the menu. I did this on the 3rd mission and the game popped back up exactly where I was.

To further ensure you have your progress saved, try to save and quit AFTER you hit a check point.
Yeah, there's a Save and Quit option when you hit start.
Well damn, now I feel dumb. I must just be used to games auto-saving a checkpoints. Ignore my previous comments about not getting achievements when quitting/restarting at checkpoints.

I think ONI: Sword Base was the only level where I stopped playing at a checkpoint within the mission. I replayed the mission at 430am and got all the achievements for beating the game on all the difficulty levels. :) Its just bullshit that I beat the level the first time and didn't get any credit at all just because I saved in the middle of the mission.
Still seems odd not to get them if you are still starting back at the check points when you resume though.
Yeah, but it isn't much of an issue for me. My wife plays co-op with me and gets motion sick from it if we play for too long so we generally just do one mission beginning to end and quit anyway. Most of y'all are going to finish it twice before I see the end credits :)

Saw some player today with the electric static helmet effect ugprade...either he hacked to earn 2,000,000 cR in the 3 days since it's release or he won the Halo Reach Lotto. Seriously...2 million cR in 3 days?

Could be a Bungie employee. They all had that helmet on in the Humpday Challenge.
He'd of needed to play thousands of matches in 3 days. I'm going to say he hacked.
What does the confetti thing do?
When you die, you explode into confetti. There's also a similar armor effect that involves hearts.

Im almost up to 30,000 and got the game yesterday. I want the E.V.A. helmet, but im not sure if im committed to buying it just yet. LOL. I really want the lightening, and a different colored visor. Its going to take a lot of matches to get all that. I heard you can get 1,000-2,000 credits in firefight > Score Attack > Gruntpocalypse. I tried it and got about 800 my first try. But i get around 400-700 in regular matches.

No, I agree. Kotaku really screwed up by putting a spoiler like that in the subject tag. That was stupid on their part. I was a bit supporter of Kotaku, but lately they have been screwing the pooch in a few areas.

That sounded awful.

Little off topic but what order do the books come in? I have a 33% off coupon for borders and I might pick up the books. Is their only 6 and the comics or is their more? I see that Borders has listed two box sets of 3 books each.

In-Universe chronological order (a little overlap between some)
Contact Harvest --> Cole Protocol --> Fall of Reach --> The Flood --> First Strike --> Ghosts of Onyx

Evolutions has a bunch of side stories that fall into various periods of the timeline; no huge spoilers there, iirc, but you might wanna do that one last.

Thanks Pirate. I was really wondering what order the came out but chances are would have asked later on what order in the univers the were. Am I right that their is only 6 not counting the graphic novels and comics. I don't know why but I keep thinking one just came out and I was thinking that it was The Fall of Reach but I thought it was listed in the box set that I thought was the first set of books.
