Halo: Reach

The armor is cool and all, but using cheap tactics to get credits quickly is just...cheap. I remember seeing one guy on the Bungie forum (For the love of god, if you can help yourself, don't go over there) who played 15 hours of Gruntpocalypse in a single day and was complaining that it capped at 100,000.

I mean...come the fuck on.

Yeah I saw that thread, he had the nerve to complain about the cap, I had no clue about the cap till this tard was complaining.

But on the brighter side I'm completely sure that he sucks at the game, so he can enjoy his dumbass armor(I've noticed most of the armor is pretty ugly too) and continue to suck in matchmaking, unless he stays in Gruntpocalypse by himself.
lol, SWAT is the true champion of modes in this game.
SWAT is the game that people with no real skill enjoy playing while camping in a corner waiting for someone to walk by them.

only jackasses camp swat.

Yeah bro, aiming for the head and learning to pace shots for reticule bloom takes no skill.
Found it! I know I'm responding to an older post but I just wanted to say I was glad you mentioned it otherwise I might not have searched further, so thank you. The more powerful one is under vehicle cannon (missed that one somehow). Edited my map for what I had originally imagined. Pretty much edited, deleted and resubmitted my stuff to File Share because I'd made a bunch of little mistakes all over the place.

Was trying to figure out how to make a Golf game variant, but no matter what gametype I can't figure out how to do so where it actually scores the game.
Glad you found it! I only found it cause I was like what's this? Set it, then jumped on top and watched myself fall to my death. lol

Btw, I tried out your map and it's pretty interesting. Only thing I seen that might be improved is the teleporter. When you run through it and keep moving, you don't fall straight down, so you end up missing the platform and falling to your death or falling to a level below.

I hate Swat too but I do like snipers. I hope N0F puts it in it's own playlist and not with snipers or else I'll be screwed. For now, I just quit out of Swat matches because I'm not interested in playing them.

Edit - Just read on B.net that Swat will be completely removed from Team Slayer in the October playlist update. Yay!

Nice stereotyping

Anyway when I play SWAT(I'm not gonna lie I'm pretty good at it, which is funny because I always veto it for something else) I run around the map strategically seeking out other players and using the sprint AA ability to its fullest. Players who camp are only cheating themselves and make excellent targets for good players.

After a few of my team got Yoinks today I looked at the post game medal list. It's stealing a kill from a player assassinating another player. Thus, yoink.

Saw a player with a DMR on their nameplate. Found out that comes from having a Bungie pro account. I used to have one, back when Halo3 was still fun to play, but I don't any more so I can't use that nameplate. Oh well, if they put it on sale, I might do it just for he plate. I'll be pissed if they take it away again though.

funny...the game considers killing someone on the human turret as a vehicle kill.

while I'm having a blast with Reach, leveling up isn't quite as invigorating as it is in MW:2 which is digital testostorone.

It doesn't when it takes one shot. It does when that player has shields that you have to take off first. You know, the whole reason there would be any reticule bloom at all, from firing more than one shot.

Are there leaderboards for this game, and if so where? Sometimes i play Gruntpocalypse and see a friends name on the left with a score for that map. What i dont understand is i beat his score twice and it still shows up. I know it used to show other friends, and once id pass their score, it would show the next highest friend. Unless he is the highest on my friends list. But i thought it would show my name or nothing since i beat it.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. One shot kills in SWAT means you don't really have to deal with the bloom.

I played Gruntpocalypse for the first time today. Man, that really is a shit ton of credits. Not nearly interesting enough for me to try and farm it, though.
Awesome, do you have a link? Curious when this is going to occur and if there are any other details.
Stosh was talking about it on NeoGAF. Urk might have mentioned it as well. Going to be lots of matchmaking tweaks in the next update.

Thank god they're removing SWAT. SWAT was only fun in Halo 2 and even then, it wasn't that great. I really hate how everyone votes for SWAT right when it pops up. It's just a stupid game type filled with spawn killing. I had to play on Ascension (forgot the new name) today in a SWAT game and holy shit was it annoying. 4 spawns in a row I got raped before I could even go anywhere. Somehow, this game thinks it's funny spawning you in the middle of the map or on top of the sniper tower all the time.

I was looking for this Gruntpocalypse and could not find it. Are people just making a game type or is it one to download?

Matchmaking > cooperative > score attack
search for a game... and the voting will show up with one being gruntpocalypse.

WOW just tried gruntpocalypse and got over 1000 points in about 10 minutes. I have to say that isn't bad. I can see why people farm it. I wont lie I'm going to be playing it from time to time as long as it is up. Might play 2 or 3 rounds of it then some team multiplayer till I get sick of it then back to gruntpacalypse.

I tried Gruntpocalypse a few days ago too, and it's f*****g fun. I'm not going to farm though, getting those credits to rack up and buying new stuff won't be as fun if I get them so easy, but I'll do one or two games every day or so.

Today would be a good day for Gruntpocalypse since one of the daily challenges is kill 100 grunts in any mode (and another for 250 enemies in any mode).

I'll check it out tonight, also need 3 more MP matches to knock out the weekly challenge.

Sad to hear SWAT is getting dropped. I only got to play it once. And I enjoyed it being one of those skill-less players who hates shields.

Wait, what? I thought it was getting dropped out of Team Slayer but getting its own thing.

It's getting COMPLETELY dropped from the game? I think I misread something.

Shaq-Fu. I actually enjoyed playing it.

Maybe I misread in that case!

If it gets it's own play list, I'd be very happy.

The game needs a lot more play lists. Let people pick the type of game they want to play rather than suffering through what gets voted on. I'm fine with longer matchmaking waits as a trade off.

It would be great if there was a whole swat playlist with various game types with no shields (different starting weapons etc.). Would play more like a run and gun version of Call of Duty online then. Kind of best of both worlds as I hate the camping and focus on mid to long range combat in CoD, hate the shields and having to shoot someone so many times to kill them in Halo.

I completely agree.

Not sure how much I agree on the whole no-shields with different weapons, though. Seems like it could get pretty annoying. I guess it'd depend on how they executed it, you know?

Oh I completely deleted the teleporter and use the larger cannon instead to shoot you up the levels like I had originally intended. I deleted the old one of my file share and added the new one if you're interested. Can't figure out how to make a golf variant so I'm trying for a cruiser-to-cruiser style battle map at the moment.

http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/Leaderboards.aspx sorts at the top by game mode and then by map.

Not sure how to look it up in the game itself though.

Indeed. With no shields, any gun that fails to kill in one headshot is pretty useless in SWAT. I would love to see a shotty/snipers playlist. I have yet to see that game type as an option, and that was my fave in Halo 3, along with SWAT.

As I said, it would just play more like CoD.

A couple bursts from an assault rifle would be a death, instead of a clip and a half to take down shields and health (with no other damage and no head shot).

It gets old running around, shooting someone a bunch, meleeing them, etc. only to die because some else starts shooting you in the back etc. At least with no shields the person that had the drop on someone would get a kill most of the time like in CoD even if they are killed right afterward.

With the bonus of it not being a camp and shoot from cover from long distances game like CoD.

That's my whole problem with Halo. Any gun should kill in one head shot in any mode!

Whenever I played H3, it never felt...smooth. I was always terrible at it, and no matter what I did, playing it always felt awkward.

When playing Reach, it's completely smooth. I'm not sure what the change was. I can actually snipe efficiently, who'd have thought.

Yeah, I didn't play much H3 as it came out right when I got a 360 and I had a ton of other stuff to play.

But Reach does feel better, and while I'm still sucking, I'm at least sucking less than I did in H3.

Looks like Bungie wants us to play Firefight matchmaking today, all of the daily challenges can be completed there.

Kill 40 enemies in FF Matchmaking (400 cR)
Kill 250 enemies in any game mode (2500 cR)
Kill 100 Grunts in FF Matchmaking (1500 cR)
Kill 20 enemies with a Supercombine from the Needler or Needle Rifle in FF Matchmaking (400 cR)

I had the same thing happen with snipers. I could never snipe well at all in Halo 3, but in Reach I'm fucking amazing at it in campaign and not bad at all at it in mp.

They aren't that bad... I guess I'll be playing some FireFight for the first time since getting Reach today.

guess this is a known issue now, after some searching. here's to hoping for a fast title update release.

I tried playing campaign over 3 sessions, covering 2 or 3 missions; and literally the 360 blanked out (crashed) or froze up over 15 times!! this happened in gameplay, upon loading, and even in the armory. once, it even crashed from the pause menu; which is before I saved. I lost over an hour of progress; yeah livid.

multiplayer wasn't as bad, only frame rate (lag), and 1 load crash.

I have the 'ironically' halo 3 special edition 360; which I guess was the Pro. sighs...

so what happened in Beta again?!?
I made this video yesterday which basically shows every single Halo player I've run into so far. Let me know what you guys think.

so true, also applies to Gears of War players.

just generalizing, but yeah majority are like that. but the mature ones get friend requests though.

The video applies to the MP scene of any game with a decent sized community in general. Well done. One of the reasons I play mic less with randoms so neither one of us ever have to hear one bitching about the other.

I finished all these challenges in about 30 minutes in 3 Gruntpocalypse games. ;)

LOL not bad, but i sometimes say "how does he shoot me through a wall?" or "scrub has to double melee me?" LOL. I also hate when i constantly get killed from behind, and its always the second i turn around someone comes up behind me and shoots me.

Well it is found in a menu under matchmaking...
