Halo: Reach
hmmmm a couple challenges look pretty hard. 30 kills in one game for the weekly challenge, i dont think ive ever had more than 29. Usually average around 10-16 kills a game. As for the daily challenges, 10 sprees today.... that could be difficult, 10 enemies while jet packing.... not sure if this has to be done in one game or not. The way its worded sounds like you wont have to do it all in one game.
TBH with you, they are pretty easy. I knocked 3 of the daily and the weekly challenge out in like 3 or 4 games. I only need 5 more sprees and weapon sprees do count towards the total.

Yeah, 25 kills is the most I've had (I mainly only play Rumble Pit and Firefight). I can't game on monday's (work late) so daily challenges today are moot anyway.

anyone know if you can get the skunked achievement offline with a second player?

edit: nvm got it online anyway

so im on my last 2 achievements. the ones that pretty much require you to get alot of cR. any suggestions to do this quickly?

Focus on daily and weekly challenges as well as leveling up commendations for those big credit bonus.

If you're not great at online multiplayer (and thus don't rack up a lot of credits) you can get more by playing Gruntpocalypse in score attack. They've toned it down, but you can still get 800 or so a match not counting any commendations completed etc.

And most of the firefight matchmaking daily challenges can generally be completed in score attack mode as well.
Kind of disappointing you unlock I think all the armor at Commander.
Im a colonel grade 2, and i dont have the security helmet. How does that one get unlocked? I really liked the way the security helmet looked in halo 3, but in reach it doesnt look as cool to me.

That's what I'm saying, I'm LT Col, half way to grade 1, the rest of the stuff that's currently locked is unlocked at Commander. The security I'm not really sure, possibly Colonel? Either way we can't get to Commander cuz the cap is at Lt Col 3.

Here's a link with all the ranks and amount of cred needed.

http://www.haloreachbeta.com/content/halo-reach-ranks

Bungie said something about adding more armor to the armory with the November update, but with them you never know, that could me by lifting the current rank cap you have access to stuff you would normally have access to without a cap or they are actually adding newer armor.
I hope they dont have more of these challenges, because id actually like to play levels on legendary and beat them with others through the matchmaking. But if they are going to keep up with these challenges, i can expect to play 1 level only, and have teammates leave once they die.
Consider investing your hope in random players who have more of a sense of good sportsmanship than the lonewolf complex. You have CAGs on your friendlist, just co-campaign with them. When I play MP w/out a buddy or two I never expect them to act as a team even though I do my best to contribute.

As for being disappointed that spoilers are showing all the currently available armor unlocks at colonel level, should it really matter that much at this point? I just get a kick out of seeing my spartan rendered in the cut scenes in the piecemail armor. There's still armor missing from the current armor list that was in Halo 3. No one said they won't be adding extras down the road, but expecting too much this early imo will only shorten the life of the game for you.

Microsoft and Bungie have a goldmine in possible DLC later on, simply in the form of extra armor unlocks and map packs. What's this? Spend 800 ms points and unlock a red visor and 2 new shoulder pads?! Hell yeah! (exaggeration but you know ppl will shell out the spacebucks for it)

I have confidence in the Reach experience, it only fails when you take the online community too seriously.

My taste for the game is now on the steady decline. Just didn't enjoy the time I spent. Want to get enough Arena days to qualify, but no mics, long delays between matches, crappy maps and getting booted on a betrayal for a freak plasma grenade toss just about ruined it for me.

I thought you meant everything available in armory was unlocked once you get to commander, and nothing else would be added as you got to a higher rank. I understand that when you get to a level, it adds new pieces that you can unlock once you get to the next higher rank.

If you run the numbers, you can pretty much purchase all the armor once you get up there in rank, it's the armor effects and more expensive extras that will take time...but it's up the player, some ppl want armor effects more than a spanky new helmet and bionic arm. I'm just unlocking everything as I go in hopes it might actually trigger something or even unlock something that wasn't available before. (i.e. utilities etc) I think I'm up to 52% armor completion. I probably won't buy any more FF voices until there's nothing left to buy, Dot and Gyst were both good, cheap, investments.

lol if you know how to betray people you can abuse the hell out of the betrayal system.

I do it all day =)

No one said anything about being disappointed because of spoilers. I'm personally disappointed because there's not much armor left to unlock after Lt Col which is what the current rank cap is at. For all we know the people who shot to Lt Col in no time and continued farming like they have been will have everything unlocked and have enough credits to buy it all come time to lift the cap.

I personally don't care about that, what I care about is I played at my own pace and am currently Lt Col, which means I'll hit grade 3 before or right around when the cap is lifted and I've already got most things unlocked playing at my own pace.

It's like the same issue with the lack of maps, it's like this game is lacking content all around, like they have the whole package, campaign, multiplayer, customization, but they just did the bare minimum in every department. And the maps they did include, the majority are bad, they thought they could get away with making a handful of maps that are playable through out almost every playlist which isn't the case, which is why they are removing hemo from SWAT.

DLC should be content that was thought up additionally AFTER the game came out, not something they kept from the disc solely because they wanted to turn more of a profit.

In a perfect world, we'd be able to design and customize our own game content but for the most part that's usually for the PC mod world. This is the console we're talking about here. The armor unlocking and cR earning feature is really just a feature though it is one of the major driving forces as to why ppl are investing hundreds of hours into the game outside of MP.

The rank cap and the community wide challenge...challenge is just a greater version of a game achievement. You can think of it as a developer's achievement unlock. *shrugs* 117 million challenges getting chipped away every second.

From a marketing perspective, if you introduce too many maps and content too early in the release you'll have players lose interest faster and look for the next videogame fix when it arrives. This is true, gamers today are a lot more advanced. We can run through a game on the hardest difficulty in less time than most developers estimate. 8-10 hours of play? Hah, I beat that in 5 solo...and another unsatisfied gamer complains that they didn't make a game challenging enough for them.

Give them just enough or even less than what you'd expect and you'll appreciate the next batch of virtual crack (albeit many complaints)...but I can't agree with the lack of maps mainly because Bungie integrated Forge allowing you to make your own custom maps. Sure, you won't harvest high amount of cR for playing on them but isn't there a Forge map contest? New maps down the road means giving everyone somewhat even ground to learn them and get good vs. the player who knows every nook and cranny of a map they've played 500 times over. New maps will also make Arena more a level playing field for a few weeks etc. Plus, you'd figure you'd expect this by now. The MP market is all about bonus maps, map pack DLCs, and other MP game modes. If Reach was a cartrigde they'd include everything in it with some program that unlocks it when you get to a certain level or beat it X number of times.

As for DLC being content thought up after the game's release? Perhaps in many cases that should be true. Though some developers probably couldn't develop all the extra content for the release date remembering, publishing and shipping the game doesn't happen overnight. I've worked in logistics...yeah, nightmare. DLC is really the developer's decision to know when to release it or reveal it most of which is probably based on lots of info gathering and statistics to maximize the replay value of the game and profit. Afterall it is a business and their main motivation to creating a great gaming experience is to turn a profit...at our expense.

...but I feel your pain.

Im really dissappointed in the lack of maps in this game and the new map pack doesnt do much for me because I enjoy smaller maps. I played through the campaign for the 3rd or 4th time the other day and its ridiculous how many of the maps are just repurposed single player levels. Laziness...

mentioned earlier in the thread, the reuse of campaign maps actually was a nice touch because it bridged some of the gaps between the single player to the MP experience. I prefer smaller maps too but I'm still going to get the map packs at some point mainly to be able to play online with my friends who will no doubt be getting them as well.

I'm making a Frostfire inspired map in forgeworld lol. Ofcourse during building I realized a complete FF remake wouldn't play in Halo very well so I'm trying to halofy the map yet keep it true to the original. But I suck at making everything pretty so it's kindof crude but it's recognizable. Still not done yet, but it's close. Still deciding on some last additions.

I got all the daily challenges done, but not the weekly one yet. Closest i got was 26 kills in swat. Another time i had about 24 kills, but my multiteam partner got to 21 kills, so there was no way i could get 30 since 50 total won the game. I think i might try to get 30 kills in invasion. Seems like if the match goes long enough both rounds, i could get 30.

Im 40,000 cR away from getting to Colonel grade 3. So about 260,000 away from bregadier. I should be able to get there before the cap is lifted. But lately i only play guntpocalypse if i can complete a challenge in there.

When you get to Colonel, what becomes available, but you can't buy it?

In the end, I can tell everyone's just going to have Haunted and Inclement Weather, and that's all we'll see in every match.

Irks me. Eh, what're yeh gonna do. I think Pilot looks badass, just without the skull.

I'll probably still be playing with default or close to default armor. :)

I dont think its much, a shoulderpad and utility or something. I just remember it wasnt much, and nothing really cool.

Todays challanges are way easy.... aside from the 4 double kills in one match.

4 double kills in one match is easy attainable on Swat.

The problem with Forge World is the maps that you make can only be played in Custom games, they can't be circulated into matchmaking without Bungie doing that.

I don't have friends who make AND/OR play on a lot of forge maps.

The friends I do have that do make forge maps, make terrible forge maps.

No one plays custom games because you earn next to 0 credits playing in them.

I was playing BTB last night and I randomly got matched-up with a Bungie employee. I never saw him during the game because he was sniping on the other team. We were playing Multi Flag and I was playing defense. I did not see any offense from the other team until the last 4 minutes (his team was probably just staring at his armor LOL).

Based on the youtube videos and my rank, it looks like you will be able to purchase the security armor once you are a General (2 million cR). That means you can only get the haunted helmet once you reach this rank because you need the last helmet (security).

That's actually a pretty good call, as much as SWAT frustrates me to play, that should be double kill territory.

That's the funny thing about armor progression, if the default armor was something you could unlock later in rank more ppl would be using that. There will be a point in the game when wearing the recon helmet w/out the preorder copy attachment will be considered in some rings "cool" again. (same reason why the black wii is so cool now over the white one, if they released the black one 1st getting a white wii would be on everyone's christmas list)

You can buy the regular recon for like 100000

New playlist updates are live. Living Dead and Team Snipers added. The order of the Competitive game modes is a bit different, so if you just kind of, by instinct, scrolled all the way down for Invasion, it's now lumped in the middle.
Just Infection and Safe Haven? Or did they add some other zombie modes?
I seen both when i played it. But man it gets boring fast for me. Once i die and become a zombie, by the time i find someone to try to turn into a zombie, the round is over. I never start out as the zombie.
Just Infection and Safe Haven? Or did they add some other zombie modes?
Only played one game, but the available choices were between Infection and Safe Haven on a few maps. The game I played gave the humans magnums. Don't know if that's new or not. I never play in Rumble Pit. I also noticed that SWAT now has SWAT Magnums, as well. That was pretty fun, because it wasn't quite as easy to just camp back and snipe people off.

If you happen to not be at great at SWAT like me, and you're looking to get the double kill challenge, just play some multi-team. The first game I played I got 3, then the next I got 4 and completed the challenge. The best are games with objectives, because everyone is dashing for that, and you can just throw some grenades in. If you happen to stumble upon the rocket launcher, even better. By the way, this is also how I got my 30 kills in one game for the weekly challenge.

Yeah, I thought it was new, but like I said, I almost never played Rumble Pit, so the zombie games are pretty foreign to me. The magnum game was pretty stupid, too, because it was on Powerhouse, and the humans all just gathered in the open part of the map and picked off the zombies with headshots.

Little disappointed in the removal of crashsite and not being to pick up other weapons in sniper attack.
Same, Crash Site was pretty fun. And being able to pick up a fuel rod gone in Sniper Attack was a great way to rack up kills and points for daily firefight challenges.

I think the weekly update said Crash Site would come back at some point at least though.

Indeed. I kind of understand removing the ability to pick up other weapons in Sniper Attack. That was kind of cheap...though I did plenty of it. It's dumb, though, because you can still pick up other weapons in Sniper Fight on FF, which is just as cheap and pretty annoying for the other players.

But Crash Site was kind of challenging. Sure, you get the extra shielding and can pick up other weapons, but having to protect the generator can be a bit tough sometimes. I hope it does come back.

Cliffhanger is just so damn bland, and it almost reminds me too much of that other map in the same setting. I'm bad with names so I can't think of it.
