fuck i wish there was a frys here
I believe some of the prices were available online, but of course with tax (if applicable) and their horrendous shipping rates it kills the deal.

I'll be buying my PS3 this weekend. Blu-ray movies I'll be picking up will be...

300 @ FYE for $17.99 after rebate

Black Hawk Down for $6.90 after GCO
Pursuit of Happyness for $13.90 after GCO
Open Season for $13.90 after GCO
Manchurian Candidate for $10.15 after GCO
Discovery Atlas Brazil for $8.89 after GCO

Plus Pearl Harbor, Corpse Bridge, Underworld Evolution, The Italian Job and the Transporter 2 for free.

How are you going to use GCO that many times?
Apparently you are allowed to. I asked the question in the deal discussion topic.
No, GCO *does not* work like a coupon - it is automatically deducted during *first use* of a new Google Checkout account.

You will need to use sep. e-mail addresses each and technically sep. credit cards. You can get away w/using same CC but most likely not *THAT* many times - plus then there'd still be the e-mail issue.

Let me know how you end up putting it together.

peaceout
REWN

You can use the same card as many times as you want, you just need a different email addy for each one. Yahoo email addresses work fine and take less than a minute to create.

FYE has pre-orders for PotC: Dead Man's Chest BR for $20.99 after rebate. First 500 reservations get a free 'Pirates gift'

http://www.fye.com/Pirates-of-the-Caribbean_stcVVcatId480289VVviewcat.htm?extId=FYE20070803pirate

I'd do the deal, but tying up $25 in credit for 4 months seems like a bit much with all the releases coming next month (counting down the days til House of 1000 Corpses)

They wouldnt charge until it ships, just "reserve the credit" until it ships

House of 1000 corpses... I really disliked that movie, which is funny because I loved Devil's Rejects (which I saw first)
Curious does Amazon need to hold to this price for Blade Runner HD DVD
http://www.amazon.com/Blade-Runner-Five-Disc-Complete-Collectors/dp/B000UBMZ4S/ref=pd_ts_c_th_4/002-4696332-8272013?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=right-3&pf_rd_r=15ZN76J5YZKEA5Z5M43C&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=278487301&pf_rd_i=193642011
I mean 27.99 plus my 10% off for a 5 disc collection.
I'm sure that one is an error that will be changed closer to release date.

They also have a listing for this one

http://www.amazon.com/Blade-Runner-...6-1938335?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1186276057&sr=1-1

I picked 300 on Bluray up from FYE today for $26 something. I said that after rebate it was $17.99 on the website. So the guy said if it really is come back with reciept and they'll fix it.
what. the. hell? here's the 5 disc collector's edition for Blu-ray, for $27.99:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=302668601&pf_rd_i=B000UBMZ4S

and there's another entry for $70. Put in an order for the $27 one and I'm crossing my fingers :)
Just ordered the $27 one as well. Wow. Not sure what's up with that but the description is pretty clear it's the 5 disc one so it should be an easy return if it's not.

At least there's plenty of time for Amazon to catch/cancel the orders, hopefully. (And not pull some stunt like charging full price on orders at $27)

you're listening to Remain in Light and Neu!

so right back atcha: :)

well they've got that pre-order price guarantee, so there's no way you'd get charged in full. what they will probably do is change it to the special edition...
hey, maybe we'll even get a $5 gift card out of it, haha

That's weird about Blade Runner. Sporadic did point out that even the Warner Bros store has two listings, with the difference being that one is the "Ultimate" version (even though neither has a complete product description). I pre-ordered the "ultimate" version before seeing this mentioned in the thread, but maybe I should switch to the $30 version. Then again, I have that 10% extra off with Amazon, so maybe I'll just leave it?

The ultimate Blade Runner is $40 more for the little Deckard case that comes with it.

The Complete set has the same 5 discs as the Ultimate.
The complete set has an MSRP of $30 so the amazon price is correct.

From Amazon's description of the the Ultimate version, the extra 30-40 odd bucks is all in the packaging:

Unique 5-disc digi-package with handle which is a stylish version of Rick Deckard's own briefcase. In addition, each briefcase will be individually numbered and in limited supply.
Lenticular motion film clip from the original feature
Miniature origami unicorn figurine
Miniature replica spinner car
Collector's photographs
Signed personal letter from Sir Ridley Scott

I'll leave my order as is for now.

Any news on if/when HBO is getting on board either HD format? I'm tempted by the $50 Rome First Season at CC this week, but if there's even a slight hint of it going HD I'll hold off.

They seem to both be the 5 disc verison.

It seems that the only difference is the packaging ala Forbidden Planet.

Even if it's only the 5 disc set without the case, I'm fine with that. I've been waiting for a good release of this movie...the DVD director's cut looks like a converted avi.

Also, I'm done with Weeds Season 1 on BR. If anyone wants it, $13 shipped takes it. I bought it new, watched it once, it was good, but I don't really watch shows more than once, besides the obvious (futurama, simpsons, family guy, adult swim etc.)

Just saw this on DVDTalk posted by edstein:

Nice...now I gotta figure what more I need from Warner. Just got 300 and TMNT should ship tomorrow.

The 25% off expires tomorrow so jump on board while you can.

I'm preordering all of the Kubrick films, Blade Runner, The Wild Bunch and Best Of HD-DVD vol. 3 boxset.

Should run around 160ish which isn't bad at all for 11 movies.
I still say the best way to get movies is Google Checkout. Alternate CC's and make yahoo emails.
That's kind of hard to do with 10+ movies and preorders.

On the fence, might pick up Blade Runner, Clockwork Orange, 300, and Eyes Wide Shut. Not sure if the Kubrik discs will be cheaper in B&M stores at release.

Preordered Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, Shining & 2001: A Space Odyssey BR's.

Usually I go the GCO route, but i figured $14.96 shipped each and receiving it hopefully on or before street date would be worth the $3 more than Buy.com (who sometimes take up to 4 weeks to ship dvds).

Being the cheap-ass I am, I wanted to combine the WHV 25% off coupon with free shipping, but there was nothing out now I really wanted that I could combine with TMNT for immediate shipping. I want Blade Runner, but I'm not going to wait four months to get my Turtles. I wound up going with Best of HD vol 2, so only a month and a half's wait, instead. Now the question is, what can I pair up with Blade Runner Complete to get free shipping or should I just go ahead and get the Ultimate... I don't think I'm big enough a fan to pay double, but there's a decent chance the extras could sell well by themselves on the secondary market; hopefully the discs come in a standard case inside.

They ship out/charge orders when they come in.

So TMNT would be shipped out as soon as they get it while Blade Runner would be mailed out in December.

Really? According to their online shopping FAQs, orders with preorder items ship when the preorder item arrives and they specifically tell you to make seperate transactions to get things quicker.

EDIT: Hmm, I guess that's just for "Advance Order" items. And I don't see the icon they're talking about on Blade Runner. I guess I'll cancel my order and re-do it, then.
2. Advance Order Program

Advanced pre-release ordering is available for selected Warner Home Video titles. These titles are noted with an Advance Order icon. If you would like to receive your video selection on the actual day it hits stores, please place your order by 10 AM PST the Thursday prior to the release date and choose the RUSH shipping option. If you select our standard shipping option, you will receive your advance order approximately 5 days after the release date.

If your order includes other products that are actually in-stock, your order will be processed with the pre-release title and shipped together on the release date. Therefore, for immediate shipment of your in-stock order, please separate your orders. Please Note: Advance order release dates are subject to change without notice.

Please Note: Advance order release dates are subject to change without notice.

EDIT 2: Upon inspection of my confirmation email, both TMNT and the Best of are marked as "ADVANCED ORDER" (versus Advance Order, no "D"). Is this their normal way of saying regular pre-order? I'm sure this has been discussed at length in previous posts, but I don't keep up on this particular thread too often, so any clarification would be appreciated.

Alrighty, thanks for all the first-hand experiences. I'll re-do my order.

EDIT: Boo, yet another e-tailer with email-only order cancellation...
EDIT 2: SteveMcQ: Judging by your user title and location, I'm guess you're a fellow Filipino?
