I got 2 of my 3 DVD's from HDDVDWorld today. I ordered them on Wed April 25th at noon EST and they were shipped on Tues 5/1 (a week later)

Sucks, but at least they came

I finally got enter the dragon from warner home video... and planet earth set should be coming on monday or tuesday... had to cancel blood diamond from the order, cause they weren't going to ship until it became available...

They do ship even if you do have something with an unreleased title. Their policy has changed even if the site says otherwise.

Last month I ordered
V for Vendetta(HD)
Pan's Labyrinth(SD)
Scanner Darkly(BD)
Letter's from Iwo Jima(BD)

got V and Scanner on the same day. I just got Pan this Friday; nearly 2 weeks before release.

So letters will probably ship out on monday.
Warners website may suck but the speed of the service is super sweet.

Damn, I wasn't aware WB distributed Pan's Labyrinth (it is New Line after all). I would have preordered it during the WB sell. Did you get the 2 disc version during the sale, if so how much did it come out to, not that it matters now... I should have preordered Roots too...
I've (obviously) created a new gmail account each time as that's the only way to get it, and I know it takes a while before they crack down (I think I've actually only read of one instance from someone on this board?), but I figure I should pace myself so my 7 or 8 times are for things that are really worth it. And this way I don't drop $10 here and $5 there 'till I'm broke. Although I think I'm going to get Venture Bros season 2 from Buy.com with GCO cause it's just a dang good price.

And I know lots of Simpsons quotes, mostly Seasons 3-7. Another great quote from that same episode:

"And then Lisa cried... and I cried... and Maggie laughed... she's such a little trooper!"

Oh and the Howard Hughes Spruce Moose... arh I should go watch that right now!

"I said GET IN."
It's actually "I said HOP IN." ;)
I can vouch that I am having problems with DVE HD and the Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive. The disc will play certain parts fine, but when I try the video tests, I can't choose a specific test.
Have you tried connecting the 360 drive to a PC, then used a program like PowerDVD HD to run the disc? I wonder if it works then...

it'll work... if your system is beefy enough, since powerdvd requires quite a bit for hd playback.... down to specific video card drivers and stuff...

I've grabbed a few really good blu-ray deals from Gamestop recently. Got The Departed about a month ago for $11.xx after edge - it was stickered with a generic price sticker.

Then yesterday, I picked up Stranger Than Fiction, Eregon & Rocky Balboa using their buy-2-get-1. They were each $16.xx after edge - once you factor in the free one, that comes up to about $11.xx/each.

All of these look like new (I'm assuming because it's supposedly so difficult to scratch a blu-ray disk).

yea ive gotten it to work but its not perfect.. it should run better when i upgrade my vid card again..

but isnt the point of dve to optimize your tv...?

also matrix is getting close... wb store better not fuck this up.. i better have my damn copy on mon. or tues.
Anyone know if Lost is gonna be HD, blu or multi?
Its Buena Vista so if it comes out on anything it'll be blu-ray. As far as I know though, nothing has been announced regarding it.

Yeah but there hasn't been one word spoken about Lost on blu ray whereas Heroes has a release date already set...

True but no date for lost season 3 has been given for DVD yet ether. If the DVD get announced and no hint of bluray i might get disapointed but i might aswell think that something is going to happen now. No? Yeah i'm streching it.

Hot damn thats a good frys deal, i might just bite...

While the Heroes HD-DVD date has been known for a few weeks now, a few more details, such as pricing, have been let out:
Heroes: Season 1 on HD DVD, this August 28 (day-and-date with DVD release). It will be a standard HD DVD release (tentatively 6/7 discs, subject to further confirmation) and will be priced at $79.98 SRP. The main feature will be presented in 1080p High Definition Widescreen 1.78:1 video with Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 (English) audio. English [SDH] & French subtitles are provided.
Someone on AVSforum mentioned that Entertainment Weekly reported that the HD-DVD (and the DVD, I think) will have a feature that will let you play individual character arcs in sequence. Sounds cool if its true.

The article does say that.

Just stopping in to state that Circuit City HD-DVD section has just been added to my weekly Uber thread.

Highlight is the Toshiba HD-A2 player for $299.99 with 5 free HD-DVD movies plus 2 more if you buy a Matrix set.

Best Buy has the same player deal (but no 5 free movies mentioned) but the prices on the Matrix sets appear mixed up by $10.
well it seems warner shipped my matrix trilogy..

i should have it on friday!!!!!!
I hope mine ships today as well. Status says: "processing"

I think they're trying to get them to everbody on Friday. My shipments from them always take 2days. All the shipped posts I've seen are east coast, and up north.

And most were Ultimate not Complete.

EDIT: Just checked my status. It says shipped. They didn't update it until midnight though.
I still cannot decide if i should get that HDdvd player for the 360 from CC... it's expensive but a great deal aswell.
I think some of those $40 off CC coupons are still around. If they are pick it up, especially now since the audio has been fixed.

Just make sure not buy Batman Begins on HD DVD.(If you do you'll be hooked on HD DVD.)

Just a heads up but the 5 free movies is actually a Toshiba rebate that goes through July, so it's good no matter where you get the player but it's fair to say the Matrix deal is only via CC though.
Damn... my Matrix Trilogy still says "In Process" on that funky receipt site. Guess I'm gonna have to wait. :(
Mine has shipped, but still has a delivery date of 5/21

Yeah my Letters From Iwo Jima BR shipped a day or two ago, hopefully it will get here by Tuesday. I wish I had ordered Pan's Labyrinth and Roots during the WB sale... :(

Just to be clear, I'm cool with waiting. After all, I got some GREAT prices on my movies. I've watched Troy since I got it, and while many didn't think it was very good (co-workers and such), I REALLY enjoyed it. V for Vendetta doesn't hold the same light it did at release for me, probably because I've watched it to death... but was still fun to watch.

Anyway... for the discount, I can wait another week or so. ;)

Just picked up my HD DVD player from Circuit City with three free movies and media remote. Mission Impossible III looks phenominal, I'm going to have a very hard time going back to standard DVDs.

You should have waited till sunday. At CC the HD A2 is $299, with a $100 instant rebate from toshiba.(plus the 5 free HD DVDs by mail). If you have one of those $40 off coupons it's even better.

Plus if you get The Matrix (Trilogy or Ultimate) along with the Toshiba player you get 2 additional HD DVD's. Note that the $299 HD DVD player doesn't support 1080p...thats what I've heard anyway.

Anyways...congrats and welcome to the HD DVD club!

EDIT:

Beginning this Sunday (May 20th) and continuing until June 16th, consumers buying Toshiba's HD-A2 model player will receive an an instant, in-store rebate of $100. During the final week of the promotion (from June 10th through June 16th), Toshiba will extend the $100 rebate to any Toshiba HD DVD player, and will offer an additional $100 rebate to consumers purchasing both an HD DVD player and a 42 inch (or larger) Toshiba HDTV.

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/Hardware/High-Def_Retailing/Toshiba_Offers_$100_Rebate_on_New_HD_DVD_Players/637

I wonder if this brings the HD-A2 from $299 down to $199 next week?

Ehh, I'm more than happy with the add-on right now. The player is $299 after the $100 instant savings, which is a very good price, but the add-on was still $100 cheaper. Also, the free movies are by mail and limited to 15 titles, and mine were instant from a huge selection.

Hmm.. so lets say you buy the CC HD-DVD player at $299.99 on Tuesday the 22nd, less $100 for the instant rebate. Then buying Matrix set, that's $100. But then you get 5 free movies by rebate + 2 in store (right?).

So, let's value hd-dvd movies at $25 average.
Cost: $199.99+$100 = $299.99 (+tax in CA: $321.74)
Value: $299.99+$100+($25*7) = $574.99 (+tax in CA: $616.68)

Wow, not bad, about $295 difference after tax. Wait, make that amazing.

Without Matrix set...
Cost: $199.99 (+tax in CA: $214.49)
Value: $299.99 + ($25*5) = $424.99 (w/tax: $455.80)

Still saving $241. Nice.

I think as incentive to jump into HD, this is a great deal. Too bad I'm not super excited about much of the 15 titles offered. I think I'd go for Sky Captain, Casablanca, Constantine, Apollo 13 and why not, Blazing Saddles.

Is this the time to jump on board with HD? I don't have a decent TV yet but my g/f just got a 720p LCD. Maybe I can talk her into it...

You can PM the Ultimate Matrix Set at Best Buy as well, its 89.99 thereand then you get 10% off the difference. ;)

If you're a father...father's day is coming up, good incentive for convincing the wife...thats why the promotion is in play. That and to push HD DVD to more consumers.
