yep ima go to fry'z later again tonight, hopefully they restocked, but i bit the bullet and bought talladega nights unrated version off ebay used for $9.63 shipped, great steal deal, now a lot of bad reviews for the movie, hopefully i wont be dissapointed...da guy who sold it said the movie was so bad he didnt even want it free wit the ps3 and that he didnt even want it in his collection.
I thought the movie was pretty good and looked decent enough in blu-ray but the rated is definately funnier than the unrated... it is probably the first time I've heard of whole scenes being left out of the unrated version of the film.

FYI, the following Blu-Ray titles are $15.25 each on Buy.com right now, even though only one of them is any good -- Finding Neverland, King Arthur, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, The Haunted Mansion, G.I. Gane.

What the hell??? So are you basically after movies that look and sound great on Blu-Ray, even if they're some of the most godawful movies ever made? Like Stealth? If that's the case, you could always pick up Pearl Harbor or Gone in 60 Seconds or Fantastic Four or X-Men: The Last Stand. Crank is supposed to be top of the line for both sound and picture quality.

Stealth wasn't so bad, why do so many people hate it? I enjoyed it a lot....

I am going to order 300 as soon as it comes out, i have to go on vacation on 7/27 to 8/8 so i dont want it to get delivered and no one home and someone might punk it...

you can always tell the post office you're going on vacation and they'll hold your mail and won't deliver anything until you get back

Did anyone see the cheaper HD-DVD prices in Best Buy's weekly ad?

Thx, but is IWO JIMA good as a stand-alone title? Do I have to buy FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS to appreciate it more? Also, in terms of visual quality, is ERAGON better or the cgi animated MONSTER HOUSE film?

Letters is a much more regarded film than Flags, but it's nice to have both because there are scenes in each that will set up corresponding ones in the other.

As for a new deal...

Heroes HD for 66.45; that's pretty good when CDUniverse and Deepdiscount have it for around $80.

Those of us with the Amazon 10% off get it for under $60.

Argh! Unless you live in the NW and have to pay tax to Amazon. Then it's about $70 even with the discount. :(

I have both of those, as well as the Matrix and Troy on HD-DVD from WB store... I'd highly recommend them all, though the Matrix obviously has the biggest appeal for most.
What Amazon 10% off?
Amazon had a promotion where you can get a 10% automatic discount on future hd-dvd or blu-ray movie purchases for 1 year on your account with your first hd purchase. I think it ended a few months ago.

BTW, check FYE/Suncoast/Saturday Matinee stores for deals on USED HD/Blu-Ray movies. Noticed a few decent HD-DVD titles ( I think the buy 3 used & receive 4th one free still applies):

Superman Returns $19.99
Letters from Iwo Jima $19.99
Departed $19.99
Mission Impossible III $19.99

I check my local FYE every so often for HD-DVD/Blu-Ray deals.

I recently bought a used copy of Chicken Little (Blu-Ray) there for $18.99.

Yea, FYE is great for used HD-DVD/Blu-Rays. Sometimes even for new ones (they seem to be doing $22.99 new releases lately). Theyre an easy place to make huge store credit profits, so even their retail prices can be more then acceptable (right now you can easily get $16 credit for less than $2 if you dont mind flipping).

Thanks for the extra 5% discount code Orimental! With the 10% off I was already getting on HD DVD's on Amazon.com I was able to get it for $59.45.

Circuit City currently has the BDP-S300 player on their website for $449 after a $50 MIR. With store pickup, it would be YMMV but you could get the player with 2 free movies for that price. (or $10 more with the $40 of $200 coupon)

Pardon my ignorance, but what does that mean?

Flipping means to buy something in one place and instantly sell (aka flip) it at another. A lot of people look down on it, but its one of the easiest ways to legally make cash. In this case, theres a game that Gamestop/Eb sell for $1.99. FYE pays either $14 cash or $16-18 credit for it. Meaning you can legitimately get a new HD/BR for less than $4 (or a PS3 for $80, lol)

What game?

fye's prices for next gen is pretty ridiculous.. i dont even think they have used hd movies around here.

also i think im holding off from buying any more sony bd movies... the damn stickers that keep the cases closed always leave a nasty mudge.

i only notice these on sony movies
fye's prices for next gen is pretty ridiculous.. i dont even think they have used hd movies around here
They used to be bad, but theyre getting a lot better. Most new HD/BR releases are $22.99-$24.99, and they do random $7 maill in rebates ($17.99 for 300 BR, woot). The average HD/BR used price is $11.99-$19.99 (most being in the $15.99 area). The used deals were sweeter with GCO (House of 1000 Daggers & Fifth Element BR for $1.99 each), but unfortunately thats done. Using store credit makes up big time for the difference in price compared to places like buy.com after gco.

thanks i cancelled my May order, because it wouldn't apply to the already existing order, so it stacked with my 10% offer.Grand Total:$59.45

All others who have heroes ordered to get both to stack (if you have the 10% offer on your account) you need to cancel the existing order through Amazon.com.

Thanks a lot for these details.

As I understand it, the first five Harry Potter films are to be released on Blu-Ray AND HD-DVD in Q4 of this year. Immediately went to the WB web site to see if I could pre-order with the coupon codes from pg. 72, but they aren't there yet. Definately looking forward to getting these, especially with their great online discounts! ;)
